TheCore Quick Start GuideThose of you with mechanical keyboards should take more care when removing keys because of the way mechanical keyboards are designed. Not pulling the key straight off can damage the switch. Bent paperclips work well.

I saw something like this in a video... (I am talking about HOTS)

There are hotkeys for a UI Customizer, but I don't think its ready yet.

Is there a changlog from version 0.5 to 0.5.1 ? I couldn't find one in the OP.

I guess I just don't understand what P* means P* is a layered control group which can be selected by hitting "Shift+P" (to select queens) as opposed to "P" to select hatcheries This allows the inject method to work for the core where you hold shift then hit P (to select queens), O (to bring up inject), ; (to go to basecam 1), click (to inject), l (to go to basecam 2), click (to inject), k (to go to basecam 3)...etc As detailed in "How do I do larva injects with TheCore?" in the FAQ in the OP.
I like to use minimap injects, which I think are v. quick, and are for me a bit easier to handle during crisis management, since sometimes a queen dies, and having to cycle through your bases to see where to inject can be a bit chaotic. I select all my queens, hold shift and hold x, (I use the grid layout, would love to try the core but play on a laptop and don't have place for an external keyboard on my desk) and click the hatcheries on the minimap. The cross changes to green as soon as a queen has energy. If you're very quick with your injects, you'll notice that there are a few seconds time between the message 'additional larvae spawned', and the moment that a queen has 25 energy, so there is the risk of queens going on a hiking trip, to prevent this, you inject, then issue a 'stop' command. Better a missed inject than 3 queens at one hatchery for the next inject. I guess you can do this with The Core too, I guess there's no real reason to use the camera's instead of the minimap. I really like the idea of layered control groups, that is a very smart idea.

@arie3000
Minimap injects and Layered Camera Injects are the two best inject methods in my opinion. I think that Layered injects are easier and faster to learn, but maybe not necessarily faster than minimap inject. Minimap inject requires a shit ton of mouse accuracy to rival the speed of the Layered Inject, so if you have it, and you like that style, more power to you, but if you don't then the Layered Inject is the way to go IMO.
Concerning the Layered CG, it will be smooth with the minimap inject the way you described it as well and will be more efficient that way (as we save space by layering that control group without slowing the inject in any way.)

it all seems pointless, anyways you can't vote no on the poll; not sure what kind of result your expecting; but they aren't accurate. play the way that comes most natural to you thats my opinion.

I believe the poll is just to get a league distribution for the people who are using TheCore, not to see what percentage of people use TheCore.
Also, how does it all seem pointless? Hotkey optimization is not pointless in terms of SC2, just look at Artosis and his opinion on customizing hotkeys as another example. TheCore tries to take the idea of getting the most out of your hotkey configuration to its limit. For me personally, my play has benefited from switching to TheCore. It might not be for you, but I don't see how you can possibly say that "it all seems pointless" for everyone.

What's the reasoning behind having the MSCs on I, K and Comma but the Sentrys abilities on I, K and Minus (which I prefer)?

I can't speak to the reasoning but I would say that you should include which layout you are talking about when you ask questions like this. I would guess PRM, but it'd be easier if you specified.
|
Sorry, I was talking about PRMM!

@Sickan
In order to ensure good finger combinations, the hallucination and gaurdian shield are on index finger abilities because the next thing you are likely to press after one of these abilities is another ability, making for better combinations.
EDIT: So i said combinations a bit to much... oh well

Hi Jakatak First of all thanks for this, I'm a mid eu master using grid right now and thinking of changing to your layout.
Do you have any progamer comments / thoughts on this?
thanks

infinity seven's Sanddbox took a couple of weeks to get back to his old APM, and a little longer to start reaping the benefits. He's using the most updated version and really likes it.
iEchoic uses a heavily modified version of TheCore because he wasn't ready for such a drastic change. (although I really think he should complete the transition by updating to the latest version). He likes TheCore concepts and logic a lot.
I think they both read the thread, so if you two have any amendments or additions to what I said, feel free :D

are you saying the change was intended?
i dont think so because I seems to be bound multiple times so it looks like a mistake

I'll take a look at it. I don't know what you mean by "bound multiple times"
