Hello, I am new at this TeamLiquid.net so if I breached the rule just in case, I will apologies then I will delete the thread.
Straight to the point. I am Gold Leauge Terran player but I switched to Protoss because more of my style. But I am having so much difficulties at early stage defending my base. :/ Everybody is rushing and harassing me so I won't get big army. I usually like to play Marco game so I don't do 4gate unless I need to. So I expand early. :/
I am studying through Liquipedia but still can't do well. :/ PvZ I am fine with Forge expand. But PvP, PvT not looking so good. Early 4gates army, Marine & Marauder rushing. etc :/ So I do 3 gates 1 Robo Expand so I can get Observer and Immortals for defense but still can't hold them off.
Any advice? :/ Tutorial Video will be nice too. Thank you
edit: replay to avoid ban? :/ That's new info to me. :/ I don't know how to post replays. Anyway thank you for the advice.

post a replay (: for robo expand do you get a lot of sentries? and use probes to scoutt :O

For PvT, make Sentries very early on. I mean like your 2nd~3rd gateway unit early.
For tutorial on how to use Sentries early game, watch MC play PvT.

Forcefields. And you should post replays to avoid ban. In PvT you should always be safe with a 1gate expand.

For PvT here's a good 1 Gate FE build that will hold most all early Terran rushes while letting you expand into 3 Gates and eventually tech to Robo.

PvP is my least favorite matchup. If it's a 2 players map I just cannon rush so it's over fast.

You wont get banned for forgetting a replay, lol, worst that will happen is your thread getting closed.
But yea like people have said getting at least a sentry by your 3rd unit, should help you hold most stuff just by FFing yer ramp to buy time. PvP try not to over make sentries as their DPS is pretty low and yer gas is better off on other things.
W/o replays its hard to give much more advice (which is why its a rule to include them when asking for help).

This isnt necessarily a post that requires a replay because its more of a "point me to useful builds / strats / help me" then it is what did i do wrong in this game.
I know this is always being said, but your mechanics are probably bad and your timings are most likely slow and i can guarantee your missing warp ins. Switching races is hard so dont expect to be at the same level as your old race right away, the macro mechanics are different for each race.
As for general strategy for each matchup here are some useful links. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=256711 http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=223726 http://day9.tv/d9d373/
In order to simplify learning protoss i suggest you open almost exclusively with 3gate robo in pvp and pvt. Colossus will win you most of your games and its key to know how to use a robo-centric build in order to improve. Not only is gate robo gate gate safe versus a 4 gate but if executed correctly its one of the safest openings vs terran as well (can ff and hold the ramp vs early pushes and you will have obs vs cloaked banshees). Yes you will sacrifice economy but in gold league having a solid foundation and build order will be more helpful then having 2 bases and not enough production and a mish mash of units with no clear goal in mind, or you end up mixing your pvp and pvt builds up and then lose because you half did one strat.
Good luck and if you have any other questions dont be afraid to ask, you wont be banned for asking for help. (just make sure you use the search function to try to find useful topics before creating new threads)

For PvT the best build is MC's 1gate FE. In the thread everything is explained except that to do against 15CC or 1rax gasless FE, so here's my tip: Against 15CC/1rax gasless FE you can either pressure really hard by just doing the default MC's 1gate FE build chrono boosts on stalkers. There's 90% chance that you'll force him to lift off CC. After you do that, just place your own nexus, contain him a little bit and fall back before ~9:00 (medivac timing) Also a build worth trying is 16 Nexus. Most likely in your league you won't be able to pull it off every game due to the cheese tendency but it gives you the most powerful economy that you can get as toss.
PvP I was in the same position as you, stuck into 4gates but then I found those 2 great guides -> 4gate is dead (compilation of every possible 1g/2g build and Modern 3 Stalker. Those are absolutely the best guides for PvP. The 1st one is what I'd recommend because the 1g/2 builds are absolutely my favorite and imo the best builds for PvP - you get tech really early and you can be safe. Feast proved us that 1g/2 builds are capable of holding 4gates (Feast vs HerO game). The 2nd build is also absolutely brilliant, it's the more common one in ladder and tournaments because of the map control you can get. Imo it's as safe as the 1g/2g builds but if you lack confidence, this is the build to go for because of the map control. The possibilities from the 3stalkers rush are almost the same as those from 1g/2g builds but with the 3stalkers you can FE expand more safely. How you ask? You get your 3stalkers, 2 more sentries and expand but you must totally deny your opponent from scouting that you FE'd. PvZ well you said you're okay but still PvZ followups after FFE. Notice Saber96's great reply a little below. And of course the standard 1gate 1assim FE.
P.S 3gate robo sucks really really hard with the current evolved metagame

Synd has answered your question incredibly comprehensively. However, if 1-gate FE in PvT is causing you problems, you could also use CecilSunkure's 2-Gate Robo Expand. This is a build that is too economically weak to win at high levels, but at gold (Or even plat/diamond) it will work for you. It's a very safe opening that gives you a lot of information about what your opponent is doing. However, it dies to the 1-1-1 all-in (Marine/Tank/Banshee/Raven 1-base attack) so if you're facing that a lot, learn to 1-gate FE.

The most important thing is: Get your builds straight. It is a hell of a diference whether you have warpgate ready when a push hits or whether there are still 15 seconds until you get it; and having one unit less than you could have can easily cost you the game as protoss. I don't agree with those that tell you to do strongly macro-oriented builds like 1-Gate-Expand. You won't need the extra edge in economy in gold league, but your problem of defending pressure will be even larger. If you don't want to stick to 3 Gate Robo against terran (there is nothing wrong with using that build in gold league!), you could try one of these:
- 3 Gate Expansion - 2 Gate Robo
The first one gives you an early push against greedy opponents (with which you will kill many people straight away in gold league) and a lot of sentries to practice forcefields, but is not safe against early cloaked banshee (so you would have to scout for that and throw down a robo if necessary).

Out of all the marco games i like to play, marco polo is my favorite.
On a more serious side note, if you have a build order it will tell you how to defend pressure. Also game knowledge of what is going to come at you and the mechanics to get the units necassary to deal with it.

OP: it's discussed a lot, I think.. the point is PvT and PvP toss ah to rely on mechanics/micro + some force fierds.. That's just how the race works. PvT: meet them in the middle, kite, delay, rely on perfect FFs, use probes as meat shields (that's why you dump all chrono into probes early on, right?). PvP is just PvP Decent builds are posted above..
