[D] Blink micro to DODGE attacks

I was experimenting one day when I discovered that in addition to moving hurt stalkers to the back but to actually DODGE some attacks, such as: Marauder, Stalker, Roach, Banshee, Yamato, NP, and Spine crawler attack. Of course I'm sure I am not the only one to figure this out and I found this video....
Do pro players know about this? If so is it just to menial to do? It would seem like a great advantage if you could do it a couple of times. Or is it because it take extreme timing and APM? I think this could be something to look forward to when (if) blizzard ever releases a lan version for tournaments.
Is it weird that I play most of my online games at work? And that it's a pizza place??

There's not too much point in doing this. If you have monstrous APM and multitasking skills, then go ahead, but the reward is fairly minimal for the effort involved. No one Yamatos or NP's a Stalker, Marauders/Roaches are usually too numerous to make any sort of payoff, and it's easier to just Blink under a Banshee and shoot it down. Solitary Spine Crawlers might be a nice target for this, though.
The room is ripe with the stench of bitches!

I'm pretty sure every pro must know this. It's present since WC3, and in DotA it's extremely useful. In SC2 it's useful only in some very special situations, since in large battles it's more important to blink using shield as a reference, rather than avoiding a projectile, and since there's no projectile based special abilities, there's no real use for it in that sense either. In DotA you'd use it to dodge single targeted projectile nukes and stuns. There's no such thing in SC2, or at least none that would target a stalker anyways.

Yes I would imagine it is very well known, and no, it is not viable to do past the early game; the APM needed to do this efficiently is much better off being put towards multitasking.
If you watch Godzilla backwards it's about a benevolent lizard who helps rebuild a city and then moonwalks into the ocean.

Yeah, I think one of the benefits of doing blink micro with clumps of stalkers is that a few will inevitably be under fire, so in effect you waste a few shots from roaches or whatever you're facing each time you do a blink.

@grobyc do you think this could be possible with builds like 3gate blink stalker? (im not a protoss player) or some kind of all-in where you dont have alot else going on?
Is it weird that I play most of my online games at work? And that it's a pizza place??

I think there's an achievement for this where you blink away a stalker when it otherwise would've gotten hit and killed. It's a well known fact, but honestly, it's good enough to just blink stalkers back once their shields are gone rather than attempting to dodge attacks.

How fast do shields regen in battle?

The idea behind this is the exact same as picking up and dropping off a tank quickly from a dropship.

Actually it's one of the main skills required in blink battles in PvP. If you guess which of your stalkers will be target fired next by your opponent, you can blink back during his volley, and gain a serious advantage.

Also I've seen some sick shit from HuK on his stream. He is controling a xel naga tower with a stalker, then a stim marauder comes to take the tower back. The duel starts. In the middle of a concussive shot, HuK blinks his stalker on the side and the marauder wastes his attack, then the stalker ultimately comes out on top and kills the marauder. Sick move.

Do you guys think that the lag inherent in playing online makes this incredibly more difficult also @zenithM thats awesome you probably dont have any replays of him doing that do you? that would be awesome to see!!

They don't. Shields begin to regenerate 10 seconds after a unit was last damaged. Once they do, it's 2 shield per second.

It is for this reason you see players blinking back units in groups vs roaches, as you will in fact simply not take damage at all if you do it right. Once in large numbers though it is more effective to let the shields go down as you will then have time to let the ones at the back regen their shields.

Actually, I just remembered! Good you asked.

haha i only knew it existed because i posted it. it's good to remind people from time to time. and that 1 stalker beats 1 marauder once blink is finished.

though even upgrades (except 0/0) make marauders win no matter what. (if protoss is ahead in upgrades as is normal then stalkers win w/ micro)

Even so, like paintfive said, it's a waste of a blink. Sure you dodge 1 hit, but then he target fires that stalker you blinked and it will die because of the cooldown timer before it can blink back to safety.

You can also dodge baneling hits, just like how ling run close and back up, blinking while the baneling is detonating will allow the stalker to avoid the attack.
