Hey ! I wanted to know if there was a replay pack somewhere with examples of the most common way to play each match up, done by top masters / Granmasters/ pro players.

If they were none, if it'll be interesting to do this as a community work.

(sorry for bad english)

Hi everyone,

I've been having a really hard time with PvZ lately so I decided to try messing around with the creator prime chargelot/collossus 3 base thing. This is a game I had a particularly tough time but won in the end. The only reason I won was because of the upgrades.

Some things I did horribly:

I really messed up scouting the third. For some reason I thought I had scouted it not being there but I didn't. The idea of the build is really rough right now but I think I should make stalkers much earlier around 140 supply when I push their fourth. Other than this I was wondering if there are any tips regarding how to engage the enemy as I am having a tough time with that. Any nuggets to come out of this near loss that I didn't think about would be GREATLY appreciated.

http://drop.sc/276103

I know I am supposed to use replays where I lost but my near loss though very far ahead on upgrades (because of horrible engagements) I think there is something to learn about engaging from this replay.

Thanks.

I think I will compile a mix of wins/losses after to have a more extensive look at the style and timing. I hope creator uses it at WCS so I get more VODs to watch for it.

the point is to hit a pre-hive timing which IMO has a better chance to win against zerg than 2base immo allin which almost all decent zerg on ladder shld be used to by now. plus thats CK, a decent map to do immo allin along with ohana. try doing that in daybreak.

Being used to a build doesn't mean you can stop it. All protoss know zerg is gonna make 20 gglords,50winfestors, a ball of corruptors, and who knows how many number of spine crawlers that makes you just shudder at when seeing them, can they stop it? hell no lol

Don't call them gglords and winfestors in this thread, bud. That stuff belongs in other threads.

Cheers.

So instead of a 2 base immo all in you want to try and sneak a third and hope to have enough army before his hive? There's a reason you only see 6 gates/7gates/ immo/sentry all ins and other "2 base cheese". Playing vs. zerg is like playing against a clock.

I'm a decent Z player and the scary thing about 3 base Toss is you don't know if you should max out to defend one of the plethora of 3 base all ins, or you need to drone hard and enter super lategame mode. Personally, I don't overseer scout enough. Is he doing a fast third into 11gate blink +2 all in? Is he doing a 9 gate robo stargate expand? Is he doing a 12gate 3 colossus +3 all in? Chargelot/archon/immo? Stalker/Sentry/Immo? So hard to know, and each one requires a different reaction. Like if you make corruptors against a sentry/stalker/immo all in, lolgg. If you don't make corruptors against a colossus all in, lolgg. If you do infestor/spine fast blord against chargelot/immo/archon, lolgg again.

So in my opinion, Protoss 3 base timings have way more options that are harder to (at least remember to) scout than the 2 base ones, and this is mostly due to how in the early game we have 100% overlord vision of your base, but in the lategame we can hardly get on your side of the map without overseers. IDK, I have a lot more trouble with 3 base timings than 2 base timings, but they're still defensible if scouted + reacted to correctly. I'm just bad

But I can defend an immo/sentry all in 9/10 times....only took like 50 practice games and writing a guide on it, lol.

No, you dont really only see immo all-ins. Everyone still has the potential to outplay zerg opponents of even ratings, doing damage with pressure and following up with a better controlled pre-brood timing. The "clock" hasn't changed since beta.

By walling off either your main ramp or natural with gateways.

Too vague of a question. What match-up, what opening, and what specific tech are you gunning for on how many bases?

What has changed since beta is zerg's ability to control his late game army. For a long time zergs would just attack move their whole army (which was roach/hydra for a long time). Now you see even low masters zergs splitting their broodlords and infestors and being more careful when they push. Lategame is genuinely tough vs. zerg. It definitely isn't unbeatable, especially below GM, but it's a lot harder than it used to be.

I think looking at chargelots is a really good place to look to find potential strategies to play a longer game vs. zerg.

How many Colossi should I attack with when doing a 1-base Colossus all-in in PvP?

When should I get my Robo when doing a warp prism 4-gate, and should I get a second gas when I do the build?
<@Wikt> so you are one of those nega-fans <@Wikt> that hates the company that makes a game and everything they stand for <@Wikt> but still plays the game <@Wikt> (like roughly 30% of blizzard's player base, maybe much more...)

1) 2 is the most common number, but 3 can work. People don't usually get range anymrre though. You can do with a single Colossus if your all-in a reaction to defending a 4-gate.

2) You can get the proxy pylon at 24/26 supply and build the robo there, Parting did it off 1 gas in the BWC finals, but you can get 2 and stop mining from it after you start the robo.

1) One colossus with no range and 2 immortals is the more standard Colossus all-in these days. Anything slower makes it harder to push a fast expansion.

2) http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=233968 works both in pvp and pvt. It's just one variation though, there's more out there.
