Actually this build is easily countered especially if the opponent scouts early. Edit: To add, 2 of those 3 loses where against opponents I've already used the build against. Well then you really went 5-1. I think the best part of this build being popular right now is that you can wall bottom of ramp every game regardless of your plans and if you are lucky the opponent starts to defend against an all in that will never come.

Encountered on ladder this too, just a few mins ago versus "KevinLee" on xel'naga caverns.
i also saw it coming with my drone moving around outside his base
I defended with two queens ~8 zerglings, 1 spine and all my drones minus 4.
I think it's doable even if you don't scout it. If he blocks the ramp with rax/depot, make only 1 queen and 1 spinecrawler instead of 2 queens. Follow that up with another queen so you have 2 queens, 1 spine, ~4-6 scouting zerglings and your drones.
Good enough to defend esp with two queens tanking.
pon 838 on NA if anyone cares...
will post replay later.

People making this sound way easier than it is. Walling in on the bottom is ridiculous. Im 99% sure a zergling should be able to run in there

Sorry if someone had answered this, but it is possible to save your natural as a zerg when you have good scouting? Thanks.

anyway this build rocks (i was doing something similar before, but this one is better) and i don't understand the point of all the people saying "this won't make you better/jelp you at all!!!1" no shit sherlock, you don't do this build to get a better game understanding or get your mechanics right, this build is for fun and quick wins =)

Goddamnit, every terran on ladder is doing this shit. =.=

You'll have two queens, ~6 zerglings and drones by the time this hits. it is 100% defendable even if you don't scout it.

i played against this and knew it was coming and still lost today (as zerg) terran just walks past your spine on xelnaga caverns its kinda stupid
|
Given the ease of implementation vs. the difficulty defending, you may have created a Nash equilibrium for the ladder.

didn't you have 2 queens + drones + zerglings to def? the longer he delays/goes around the more zerglings u'll have. u can let the hatch take a bit of damage

I've been playing around with this build. Pretty easy to beat as Zerg now. If you scout the below ramp wall off, just throw down a roach warren right after pool.
|
I used this like 30 times today and probably went 20-7. Most of my losses came against zerg who just plopped down some early spines. But I then i had a couple TvTs where we both did it. hahahaha and then the micro battles. I will stop doing this for the time being and bring it back later. In a random tourny match! =D

Played around with this build a few times on ladder today. The two games before I figured out how to wall the bottom of my ramp correctly I split 1-1. After that I won 3 times in a row vs P/T and then lost vs a protoss that forge + cannon as soon as he saw the walloff - He had read this thread, assumed i was doing this and blind countered it. After that game I lost to a zerg who had around 1 spine 12 speedlings and a queen. That game I probably could have one if I microed it better.
All in all I feel that this is a very, very strong cheese that my normal PvT build would lose to if I mismicroed at all and which might end up forcing tosses to commit resources countering this every time terran does a depot/rax bottom of ramp wall off. This cheese is very strong and very very easy to pull off - I kinda don't want to ladder as protoss for the next couple of days :-(.

No. Please don't post misinformation.
Use the seach function and you would find this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=214208

is forge mandatory as protoss to defend this?
this pretty much means everytime a terran walls the bottom of his ramp I need to invest in a forge now -.-
not good...
|
So I faced this today as toss after reading this thread, instead of going forge I didn't cut my zelot or stalker and when I scouted the push coming I triple pylon blocked the top of my ramp in order to get a sentry out and get free shots on scv's. I cut probes at 17 and constantly chrono'd zelot/stalker/sentry out of one gateway. With the makeshift wall off and forcefields my stalker/setry zaped away at scv's for awhile until they broke the wall in. By that time I pulled a handful of probes to deal with the rines and it was an easy win.
Basically you deal with it exactly the same way you would deal with a 6/7 pool when you don't 1 hex wall off your ramp as toss.
Still don't know what I would do on taldarim though, stupid terrans cheesing wins after thorzain.

Actually never mind, just played against a Master terran in masters who did the build, i just sacked my natural and 1 queen + 1 Spine to get blings out, Standard 15 hatch 14 pool - (early gas - 13). Felt really good when i beat it. Maybe Sheth's Early Roach aggression might work better.

Exactly, when you see the wall and you build spines, if there is 2 port Banshee behind that wall, you lose.
In this particular build, he is using it for a 3 rax all in, but the wall on the low ground could be used for anything.
You can actually just wall the high ground too, and put the 2nd and 3rd raxes out of sight of the ramp.

Don't worry, you'll get better at it Given the number of players I face that spend ages poking at a low ground wall, feeling assured they can get through, it didn't seem unrealistic to me that you were being serious. Sorry man
