Is catallena somewhat a special map ? in PvT when going :

9 Pylon
(10 chrono)
12 Gate -> probe scout
(12 chrono)
15 2*gas (2 probes in each)
(15 chrono)
17 pylon
18 cyber
(18 chrono)
21-22 expand
22 mocore

the 4:10 reaper arrives before i even begin my mocore. With the exact same build on every other map, the mocore pops 1-2 seconds after the reaper arrives, so with a bit of probe micro, it's normally possible to avoid losses.

Am i missing something ? i tried stacking my probes to no avail...

Whenever you do a 2-gas expand, your expansion and your MSC are going to be just a little bit later than a one-gas expand. Catallena has a relatively short rush distance for reapers since they can just directly out of the main into the middle of the map and then directly into your main. With good micro, you should be able to avoid losses, but maybe the best solution for you is simply learning how to do a 1-gas expansion for this map.

Hey thank you for your answer. But i think i was wrong, actually.

After some researching vs the easy AI, i came up with this : the simple answer to my question is "no Catallena is not special, your build is the problem, it's just greedy/not safe"

The more elaborate answer would be :
1) you might simply not 13 probe scout (which could die to a proxy 2 rax/proxy rax + 2 rax at home, but that's another story)
2) hide a probe behind the natural minerals
3) build the mocore *before* the nexus (then with a chronoboost it finishes @ 4:09, exactly as the reaper arrives)
4) build the nexus in the natural

It does not change things fundamentally, but it's safe and it's the right way to 2 gas expand. If other people are interested, it's possible to probe scout, but in this case, probes should be cut @18 supply to build the cyber. If not the cyber will be delayed, and the mocore also, which leads to a reaper going to town in the mineral line.

So, something along those lines :

Shouldn't need to cut probes if you're going MSC before nexus. It should be equally delayed compared to a 1-gate FE in which the MSC is delayed by ~10-15 seconds by the nexus instead.

Yeah, i didn't mean cut probes for a long time, but rather prioritize the cyber, which lets 2 seconds without building probes (it's not a real cut). Or do you mean something's wrong in the build order demonstrated in the sc2planner link ?

Hey guys,

haven't played since a year and just wanted to ask what the current go-to builds for ZvP and ZvT are?

Thank you.

Check here first: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-strategy/402752-the-hots-zerg-help-me-thread

In general, ling openings -> muta/corruptor mid games are getting big in ZvP. And ZvT has stayed about the same, with a few minor changes to the order of your baneling nest/roach warren and upgrades.

1. I want to split my lategame TvP army (many MMM+Ghosts+Vikings) up into 3 Control groups (MMM, Ghosts, Vikings). What is the fastest way to do this?
(It seems i have to select all the army at least threefold.)

2. What is the best way to get the ideal number of workers per base? Change the CC waypoint at a certain moment of the build or transferring workers manually?

1. You need to use shift click for this. (You can also double click to get everyone of that unit type thats on your current screen)

2. It depends on what your overall plan is. Usually its better to way point at the beginning, and transfer later. Waypointing in the beginning wont stop your economy for several seconds. But in the later stages you might want to transfer right as an expo finishes for faster saturation, so you can mine as much as possible before potentially losing it.

Can someone please tell me how to automatically add a unit out of a production building to a control group. I've read you can do it with shift + CG but I must be doing something wrong, cause it doesn't work for me. Thanks....

Double check your hotkeys but shift + CG is correct. Select unit shift 1 and it will be added to group 1. Double check that your hotkeys are set up that way.

Close sc2 and open it again, it glitches sometimes.

@elpanavic You have to add the units manually, and the fastest way to do that is to select the units and use Shift+Control Group. You can't have the units automatically added to the control group.

Not possible, unfortunately. U have to select every unit manualy to put them on CGs.

I type with only my index fingers. While my speed is pretty good, I feel like it is limiting my performance in SCII. I have a hard time breaking 150 APM. I am currently diamond, but trying to make it back to masters.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of typing habit? Has anyone have help changing that?

apm isn't really about your finger speed except at the highest levels... on diamond/master ladder the only thing you need to do to improve your apm is improve your knowledge of what you're supposed to be doing at any given time in the game. depending partly on your race 150 apm is honestly fine unless you're looking to go semi pro or something

not sure i really understand the problem anyway... are you saying you move your index finger around to hit every hotkey? i can't even imagine doing that, it seems like it would be less natural and more difficult... can't say i've had to learn how to stop doing it, but i don't know what the solution would be other than just to sit down in a custom game vs AI and just practice using other fingers to reach hotkeys? idk. if you play at 150 apm i dont think you have a problem unless most of it is just spamming army movement clicks or boxing or something

Sounds like your problem is as easy as simply not having used your computer enough. Most people who play sc2 have used computers since childhood, and gotten used to hitting every key on the keyboard with every finger. I don't think there's really any guide you can follow here. Just play more, and try to be conscious about using every finger on your hand to reach the buttons you need (and don't bother with how you type. I also type mostly with my index fingers (occasionally using my middle fingers and little finger for enter/return), but I'm still faster than everyone i know of)
