You send the medivac somewhere with a move command, and as the medivac is flying over the destination you click the individual unit icons in the medivac hud and they pop out.
You don't need to do that, you can simply hit the drop button and click your medivac. It will continue to its destination, but start dropping while doing so.

PvP, Void rays vs carriers, should the void rays win or do you need tempests to kill the carriers, or just more void rays? Say like 15 void rays vs 8 carriers, about a 2:1 ratio maybe less.
edit: rephrased my question.

As Terran if I am harassing a zerg players mineral lane with helions and in response he drops down a bunch of spines in response to this what is the correct way to proceed after this?
I am finding if I continue to harass with helions I am hurting myself more.
Also if I am harassing with drops and in response he drops spores what should I do? Currently I would switch to helion run bys or firebat drops.

Once a toss gets storm should I basically never engage head on? It seems unless I have a very wide open area balling up while running to them is suicide if I don't get perfect EMP's. Last game I hit 3-7 ht's and he had enough storm to essentially beat me from a 100 supply deficit but I did stim a move at him. I am extremely bad at dealing with storms.
|
How do you beat marauder ghost terran lategame? Seems nothing can beat it at all. As protoss ofc.

Leave - spines will outrange you no matter what micro you have - best is to see what tech he has and escape if possible. if he has spores when you drop, boost medivac out of there and dont waste time killing spore - kill the drones as much as possible that will set him back the most

What is Zergs solution to HTs? as storms can be very effective in killing a lot of units from zerg arsenal as well as feedback can kill vipers, festors etc.

im dying to every kind of harass in TvT , whats a safe defensive opening? is there any BO which can be played safe in every matchup?

You obviously need a critical mass (15+) to get damage done, but it does very well against them. If you wanna check it out, Rekatan is a master at using them. It's very educational as a zerg player
BTW, what do you guys recommend against Hellbat/Thor with 4-5 widow mines? If it's pure Hellbat/Thor, it's easy to destroy with ling baneling, but once I engage, the banelings roll through the hellbat, but the follow up ling/bling are blown up by the mines, and they can't handle the Thors. I just saw that in a ZvT, and I thought it was really interesting/hard to deal with. Anything I should have done?

What do I do about mid/late game dt harass? I'm getting few Dt's throughout the map hitting me. bunkers and turrets ? turrets and PF?
is it ever worth making a raven if someones goes dts ?

Why do protoss upgrade armor first in tvp?
|
Q: How do you make your units colour something that isn't red/blue/green? I saw someone laddering with pink on a stream
|
Q: Can someone give me an up-to-date list of defensive economy Terran players to watch for HotS? I've recently just come back to SC2 after a long break so it would be great if someone could save me some time from having to watch a bajillion replays ^_^ Vods/replay links also appreciated!
I play from a crap NZ connection on NA so I prefer less micro-intensive styles and I figure a good economy will make up for a few mis-micro'd units.
Thanks

Because terran's main strategy in TvP is really Bio heavy. And Bio consists of lots of fast hitting units that deal low damage per shot... so armor is usefull more often.
i.e.: marines shoot for 6 damage every 0,86 seconds. so with 1 extra armor, you're diminishing it's dps by 1,16. on the other hand, PvZ you'll fight against roaches...
roaches deal 16 damage every 2 seconds, so with 1 extra armor you'd reduce it's DPS by only 0,5. so you'll usually upgrade attack (with the added bonus of zealots 2shotting lings whenever you have more attack upgrades than his carapace ones)

Hi, just wondering if anyone made a port of YABOT or another similar map for hots because with all the new builds it is really nice to be able to restart a practice game without having to re host it.
Basically is there a map in the current map pool using the latest patch (do they auto patch along with the game?) that has a restart feature.
I asked this a while back and there was no responce, not sure if this counts as double posting... Thanks in advance =]

Simple Question: Are league promotions still available in Wings of Liberty with the release of the new expansion?

You must have watched a custom and thought it was a ladder game. The only colors available on the ladder are red/blue or red/green.

Roach/Hydra/Viper is the go-to composition against mech. Going lings against hellbats/mines are going to give you a very hard time.

Well, if you're able to get into his mineral lines, more often than not you are going to do damage. If he's sacrificing more drones to create spines, then that's obviously very good for you. But competent Zerg players will not let that happen again so it's best you discontinue your aggression as the hellions did their job (obtain map control and possibly kill Zerg drones) and continue to macro up with a significant lead.
As for your second question, spores are very good at zoning out the medivac in certain locations, but with the new speed boost, if you want to get some place, you certainly can at the cost of a few hitpoints. However if you can land your marines, you can get a positional advantage by pulling the Zerg army back. Just make sure to micro your medivac well so your marines have an escape route. And make sure you attack elsewhere at the same time as your drop!

Static defense and swarm hosts do work against HTs. The casting range of storm isn't that far and storming the locusts is the last thing the Protoss player wants to do. Swarm hosts indirectly counter HTs as the locusts zone out the HTs and because of the HT health pool, trying to move past the locusts is quite stupid to do.

Hi,
Third base : bunker and turret(s) is fine. 1 turret 1 bunker when you take it, make it an habit. It's basically the same for every match up. Grab a bunch of scv's, right click on minerals, then build bunker-turret-(refinery)-depots
4th and so on, unless you are really in control of the game (in that case there should not be unscouted pylon on the map anyway), make PF + a couple of turrets. Only 1 can be tricky if you are not quick enough to pull scvs and surround the turret when the DT(s) target it.
In HOTS I am of the opinion a raven is always worth it. Spotting observer, making your life easier against DT, PDD against mass blink (rarely seen in midgame, but it can happen in some weird situations - think of banshee and mech play in general), and HSM (against high templars or whatever).
Another option to consider : if you are playing heavily bio (like most terrans), at some point you would need to go for ghosts anyway and to have at least 5-10 of them. Probably a lot more in lategame (10-30). At that point, taking care of DTs should be easier (use EMP)

Q: Is there a hotkey option for cycling between camera positions, similar to TAB for units/buildings?

What's a good response in PvP if you notice your opponent has his expo up before you, like say his expo is done before you start yours? Is it possible to catch up economically or should I all-in? What's good all-in to counter this?

The best response to this is what you will be doing next game. If you're just doing something on your side and suddenly go "oshi, he has his expo up!", you're already behind and your strategy is obviously not working. You should always aim at either constantly scouting him and plop down your expo at the same time as his, go for a timing attack that will either outright kill him if he expands, or at the very least let you get a safe expand behind it, or try to get an early expo down yourself.
If you already find yourself in this position, you can choose to either go allin, take an expo and play from behind (quite possible if he's being passive. Or you can also take a quicker third and try to get back into the game this way, or go for massive endgame tech and turtle up..both very dangerous if he decides to attack), or try to harass him back to your level with DTs, drops or phoenixes (You should still expand behind harasses. Its going to be quite safe considering he will lose everything if he decides to move out)
