The only time you're really ever building cannons for defense as a protoss is versus a zerg who's all-inning you. Virtually anything else you want gateway units. The question is vague though, and probably can't be appropriately answered without more details.

Should i chronoboost units or drop cannons for defence so i dont die =P. im sory if my question isnt clear or its a stupid question =(.

If you want better advice, I highly recommend posting some replays in a new thread or post them in the protoss help me thread. It sounds like there are multiple issues beyond how to hold those 6-7 min attacks that I can't really see without a replay. The basic answer to your question (which isn't the right question to ask in this case, so my answer may or may not even solve your problem) is that you need to get your warpgates faster (chronoboost), you need at least a few sentries out to stall (forcefields), and you should try to scout these all-ins (see if he expanded) since you're particularly vulnerable while expanding to these attacks. You definitely do not ever need to make cannons unless you're forge fast expanding vs zerg, and if its a PvP, you really shouldn't try to expand so quickly.

Im in bronze league and I find i have an acceptable early game(for a bronze league player) but i dont know how to transition into later games and i dont really know a good goal to end up. Any advice? This is a very general question. You don't even say what race you are playing. But a general answer is to try to have better economy than your opponent and to spend your resources.

The question is vague though, and probably can't be appropriately answered without more details. I take issue with this. Cannons definitely see the most use in PvZ (mostly to fortify walled-off positions), but they find plenty of uses in PvT countering banshees and drops (particularly in conjunction with a well-placed feedback), as well as PvP (mostly with phoenix-based openers). Even after all the nerfs cannons went through in the early days of sc2, it's still a very powerful piece of static defense.

I started to play SC2 again. I am quite a beginner and decided to play Terran again. Is there something like an "easy" build order to start with? I started with my ranking games and realized that my old MMM doesn't work that well anymore.

Hey guys, I started to play SC2 again. I am quite a beginner and decided to play Terran again. Is there something like an "easy" build order to start with? I started with my ranking games and realized that my old MMM doesn't work that well anymore. Did you look anywhere for an answer to this before posting? Because this is literally the first answer to the first post on the first page in this thread. Also not an easy answer but like the original answer states. "Liquipedia has you covered."

well yes I found that page already but I asked for a recommendation for these buil orders. Is there one that I should start with? Maybe there is one that is easier to play or to learn? no I did not read all the questions which were asked before... there are just too many Right now I'm reading generall pages about how to get better in SC2. Since this is simple questions simple answers i would suggest that you check out some builds you like. Then ask suggestions on which of these builds people would recommend for you. Cheers

Atm I use backspace inject but I find that its annoying when you lose one queen or dont have a queen for every hatch. What methods do you guys use and what do you reccomend? Thanks! I believe it was TLO who popularized the use of mini-map injects, which I believe is the preferred method these days. I still use camera hotkeys when I off-race as Zerg, but that's because my main race is Protoss and it's way to hard to land chronos on the mini-map, so camera hotkeys are just more accurate. Don't think you have to worry about that when all you have to aim for is hatcheries, though.

Kinda big post + Show Spoiler + For a few weeks I was forcing myself to play 2/3 games a night, alongside other stuff (martial arts training, other bs adult stuff!) and I felt it was going well, I wasn't always winning but I was spending my bonus pool and I felt like I was improving. Then after one weekend I just stopped and now find myself playing a few games, but becoming immediately titled when I lose one, even if I knew what the mistakes were and how to fix them. The other day I prematurely left a game (had 3 cloakshees in base race situation, opponent had no detection and only 7 probes) and I got extremely annoyed at myself for doing so. I just find myself beating myself up after losses and thinking that I've just ruined all my hard work (latest case went 3-1 +72 points -12 points, so +60 overall). It is really ruining my gaming experience that I am only finding it fun when I win. When I get tilted I end up playing something else, or some campaign, or whatever and sometimes wont play ladder for a few days. Which really affects my position on ladder and my chances to get promoted (would like to be diamond before HotS - Gold atm). I feel like every loss is a step back and I sit there analysing the games, tweaking the builds vs AI but not actually doing any LADDER!

I never had ladder anxiety but rather just lacked motivation to play so this might not apply to you. Recently I've been laddering a lot, while I used to only play a few games a week max. What changed is that I've been playing a lot more just for fun without any real expectations. I used to lose a game in a terrible way and just get mad and stop because I felt I was never getting better. Now I just do things I find fun like ling bling drops ZvP or whatever else I want to try, but all the while I'm focusing on macro trying to max my SQ to keep on top of my game. (If you dont know SQ do a search on TL for it, I find it a better metric to track than wins or losses)

I always get ladder anxiety, a key factor in my gradual decline in playtime over the years. I'm still not quite sure how to solve my problem, it's just a useless ladder account who gives a shit, right? I think CatZ or TT1 said it best like "When I get rank 1 GM, then I get ladder anxiety."

I feel like every loss is a step back and I sit there analysing the games, tweaking the builds vs AI but not actually doing any LADDER! Every loss is pretty vital for a step forward. Win streaks only give you complacency in that you're eventually gonna run into the next brick wall and not see it coming. Even if you feel you've regressed, you have to go back and find the issues beneath. Ladder rating is probably the worst way to judge your progress, as you're going to fight a wide variance of opponents with their own experiences and different styles which you simply will not have the experience to deal with all of them-- losses are inevitable. You just kinda have to focus on the games and ignore your league, watch yourself come together and just let the promotions come and go on their own. Leagues are superficial and only measure your win rate moreso than your development, and it's entirely possible to go on losing streaks but be steadily improving. It's difficult to separate ladder ranking and your own progress as a player when it's thrown into your face with each loss, which is why smurfing for people who really want to work on their game but have anxiety relieves a lot of the pressure associated with ladder rankings when it's on an account you don't care about -- it pretty much separates ladder from your game for you. Don't worry about ladder so much. If you really feel practicing against the AI (or smurfing) will help you, then the dividends will pay off when you literally get to the point you're just better than any opponent at your rating and make the permanent step forward on ladder.
