I don't really remember who, anyway it does not happen too often to them since they keep their mineral count low.
What i find problematic in using one probe to build several buildings is that in 2v2, in early mid game, i don't have a lot of space, therefore, i send my probe to build for instance 3 gate in 3 different locations and the gates will be built with a 5 or 10 second gap between them. It is not convenient when your are under the opponent's fire and you want to transform them into warpgate because you have to come back to your base 2 or 3 times.
I thought i could take a groupe of 3 probes and order them to build several buildings (like 3 gates and 2 pylons), so the buildings will be finished at the same time.
But when you queue this kind of order, your probes will move to pointless places and you loose mining time.
I must admit i may be wrong because did not try several method in a custom game.

Erm, do immortals regenerate shields while inside the warp prism?
|
So I got to top 8 Gold by pretty much massing Roaches every game. My MMR is high enough to match me against low Masters. But I'm looking to open up my play..
However Ling openings are getting me killed, its more of a problem of when to take gas.. I usually gasless expand when going roach, then fill all 4 gases by 6.30 ingame minutes. This is a 14 pool, 15 hatch build. How do I do a similar build but with Lings? Or do I fill 2 gases earlier instead to take Metabolic Boost into consideration?

Yes, you can see the blue shield outline increasing around the unit portrait in the cargo section when you click the prism.

Zerg help me thread would be a good place for this.
You'd probably get this answer: Read belial's guides on ZvT and ZvP! :D They're titled "[G] Belial's Comprehensive Guide to ZvT", and ...ZvP
Pretty much covers the ling openers. Honestly, I open drones in ZvP (lol no joke, 0 units until I need them), in ZvT I use queens, spines, and reactive lings, and ZvZ I go defensive banelings -> third -> roaches -> hydras -> win if they go infestors
This game's an art, but that's irrevelant in lower leagues (me included). There's so much depth to it, I'm still learning and I have ~600 games this season, and 500 before that! Generally Zerg is about surviving until you get a maxed army of broodlord/corruptor/infestor with 80 drones and tons of spines backing it up!
My question is: has anyone ever LOST to someone who goes standard roach/hydra/infestor midgame into fast hive (broods or ultras)? Everytime I see this I smile and win -- especially infestor/spine turtle is always free wins, even in an even game O.o
Aka mass roach all day erry day :D Hydras rock in ZvZ, otherwise don't make them. 3 roaches : 1 hydra is about right...infestors are imba (2 supply wtf!)
Yeah /my rant on Zerg.
Gl hf, read guides, play, focus on perfecting mechanics and having fun!

I usually go ling/infestor in ZvZ but that can be easily dealt with by a solid roach army from my opponent. If I were to go roach/hydra instead when should I be taking my roach warren and gas (I usually go 15/15/15, first 100 gas to speed, then banes, then lair, then on infestors/mutas)?
Edit: (I'm in silver, by the way)

Which race has macro mechanics designed in a such a way that you can focus maximum attention on your army? In other words, which race has the quickest macro? Please refrain from posting unless you are equally versed in all 3 races. Also, Protoss may have the smallest apm requirement, but that could be due to the time-consuming process of warping in, binding what you warped in etc etc and not because it is necessarily the quickest or easiest. Something to keep in mind.

To be honest you can make an argument for any race. I'd argue Zerg though, far and away the best race to macro while multi-tasking something else; everything can be produced from one hotkey, including their supply providing overlords. Maintaining your creep is important too, but a vastly different concept from either race.
Terran is designed similarly, but you're also dropping depots/mules/infrastructure/swapping addons too, none of which zerg has to do to the extent Terran does. Protoss functions completely different from either though, requiring constant chronoboosting/warp-ins. Can make an argument on which is more difficult, but Protoss is definitely the least suited towards multi-tasking.

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this so please forgive me if it is not and please point me to the correct one:
I'm looking for something to practice timings with. I've been using YABOT freestyle since it displays a nice log that says at what time I dropped my factory and such along with some resources info. The problem is that the size of the log is very small so if I do a 1raxFE it only covers something like 7 minutes or even less. I'd like to be able to check stuff more into macro side of things like a 3/3 timing or a 4th cc.
So far I've been doing that by speeding through the replay but I'm wondering if there's a more efficient way.

hihi guys,
Gold level random player and keep having the same problem in ZvT. I always mess up the lingbling vs rine/tank engaments. I know the theory of the micro, but i never know how many banelings i need. so i either make to many and am gas starved or to little and die . Does anyone have some simple guidelines for ling/bling ratio.

I'm no expert, but your ling/bling ratio is obviously going to depend on your opponents marine/tank ratio. There is no magic ratio that will suit every scenario.

I am aware that it's situational. I am not asking for set in stone rules or the magic ratio. But for example the guideline of 2 pylons as toss on 2 base per warp in round really helped me figure out that mechanic. Same for zerg ovies. I am asking if anyone knows any guidelines for ling bling ratio.

You should avoid giving out advice unless you are an experienced SC2 player or, at the very least, your advice be very very concrete.
Dishing out very general, non-specific advise and then ending it with 'I'm in silver, btw" helps no-one.
No offense

Did you read my post? I wasn't giving advice, I was asking for it (gas and roach warren timings when going roach/hydra in zvz).

On September 03 2012 20:33 ghost_face wrote: Did you read my post? I wasn't giving advice, I was asking for it (gas and roach warren timings when going roach/hydra in zvz). Ok. I like to open greedy (15h,17p,16g), double queen, and if they went gas before expand I go bane nest first, if they went hatch then gas I go speed then bane nest. Spine around 5:00 in main, walk to natural. Make 8 lings when bane nest is halfway done, morph 4-5 banes once it finishes.
42 second gas + evo 44 third hatch, +1 missile, roach warren, lair if you aren't about to die Double gas (4 total now) and pump roaches while third is building. Remember: lair ASAP. Spines suck; can't defend your third with 10 spines in your nat! Once I'm halfway saturated at my third I like to double gas and pump 1 last wave of drones, throw down hydra den (don't need it until 6 gas) When +1 is almost done, throw down second evo. Start +2/+1 ASAP.
This is I THINK what should be done, but I wish I had a ZvZ practice partner to play sgainst things like 2base roach/ling all-ins, 2base muta, etc. In theory, roach/ling all ins are very all-in, so if you lose your third it's ok, but I'm not sure. Even I am not sure of the gas timings in ZvZ xD
I used to go 2 base muta -> 3 base double evo roach/hydra and literally crushed everybody, but I wanted to play bigger macro style.
Anyways, not a simple answer, but I hope it helps!
Btw Belial might be coming out with a ZvZ guide soon (fingers crossed)

I'm not sure on where to post this so I'll just post it here. I'm looking for a certain replay of a while ago. It was a SlayerS inhouse game, Boxer playing vs a zerg, was losing to a ling bane roach attack, but barely managed to hold and killed the zerg with a counter drop. Not even sure if a replay was ever released, but i've been hurting to have it haha
