How do you deal with mass cloaked banshees as protoss. I've had a bit of trouble dealing with mass cloakshees with viking support. The terran scans and snipes my obs and suddenly my army - which is most always bigger than his - is in full retreat and getting destroyed by the high DPS of the banshees. How should I be dealing with this? I tried to have a few spare obs trailing my army when my initial one gets picked off but the terran just rescans and repeats. Any ideas on how to deal with this? If the terran is playing sky terran, you should think about getting either templar or phoenix, both help against that army comp.

But how do you deal with the cloak portion? I mean, if my obs are getting sniped within a few seconds, is my only option to feedback as many banshees as I can before my obs gets killed or is there a better method?

You can storm the cloacked banshees. Also, if archons are in play, their splash can hit cloacked banshees as well.
But you are right, feedback IS preferred. Use storms as secondary measure.

What is the proper response in ZvT when Terran takes an early third...before you take your own third off 3 rax 2fact tanks around 9-10 minutes. They still have a semi-threatening army...maybe 4 tanks. and some bunkers. Let's say for Shakuras Plateau.

Barrin and other proponents of maps featuring lower income per base refer to those maps as "FRB", what do those initials stand for?

I've been reading all the articles on the subject and I didn't catch that, and for some reason my brain was not coming up with that as a possibility.

Hi. Is there any way I can stop people from seeing me online on b.net? There is a person I want to avoid, but he/she has added me with my character code. (yeah I can obviously ignore him/her, but he/she has other means of contacting me outside b.net)
Every other friends system has an option of showing yourself as offline

Do people get nervous about ladder games? lol
I do like I do about other forms of competition, I dont like to lose, so I try to put myself into a position where I cant lose (aka not participating) it really bugs me because every season I am the same, I get to about 15-30 in my league early on, then get nervous about dropping rank and losing games.
I see people with like over 500 wins in bronze and silver and I think it is embarassing, (have about 150 in silver) and I don't want to get like that where I am just stuck in same league with loads of games played and look really bad :///
what do you guys tell yourself if/when you get nervous about ladder?
I've tried smurfing on a friends account but I find myself less bothered and I throw away games I could've won, or GG earlier if timing attacks dont work because I cba going into the lategame...

this may not be the best way to ask this question, but does anybody have any advice for how to now get intimidated by another player's deathball? Even if I have an army that is just as big or bigger, I always get deathly scared of losing the engagement. This is probably the reason I lose a lot, as I see my opponents army, and just become so scared of it.I have the most problem with Zerg and a 200/200 army with a lot of lings. ps. I am Terran.

Some people just get nervous. It releases adrenaline which can actually help you quite a bit in Starcraft.
One thing to do is focus on executing your build and performing the basics instead of worrying about your opponent. Once you get really comfortable with the basics they become automatic and you have fewer things to worry about.
If you are still bothered, play 2v2 and mess around with other races. It's fine to not care about losing as long as you have fun.

If you do want to get to higher leagues I would recommend you stop grinding ladder games as it's clearly not helping you at this point and get a friend to watch you play and help you out. Get free coaching if you can find it (i've seen a few here and there).

As a Terran player you should be afraid of the other races maxed out armies. You should be trying to stop the other player from finishing his deathball. Its sounds impossible, but don't engage a 200 army directly as terran. Think guerilla warfare. It takes a bit of apm.

If Protoss did not have forcefields, would there be any reason to drop banelings on an army, rather than just attacking into it?
|
On March 30 2012 21:50 Hulavuta wrote: If Protoss did not have forcefields, would there be any reason to drop banelings on an army, rather than just attacking into it?
Yeah there are a couple of reasons why it would still be a good idea. First, Overlords would have to be target fired to hit the Banelings, rather than them just being on the floor and hit by the full strength of the army. Second, when you hit an army from the front you're technically wasting the back half of the damage, and given how often Protoss armies are grouped up, you might literally double the damage from a dropped Baneling.
I should add, with this post I'm just covering reasons. I'm not good enough to know whether it's better enough that it's worth devoting APM too, but specifically addressing the question of if there are any reasons to.

It should also be noted that stronger Protoss units (Colossus and Immortal) can only hit ground units. Having your banelings in the overlords will protect them from these stronger units.

When I watch higher level replays, I notice that Terran players tend to lose a mienral patch or two really early (relatively) in the game. It is from repeatedly dropping MULEs on the same mineral patch. My gut instinct tells me this is bad because if you mine out a single mineral patch as opposed to half mine out two mineral patches, you lose income.
I know dropping MULEs on closer mineral patches is better than far patches, but there are usually more than just one or two close mineral patches. Is there some other benefit that I'm missing or is it that it's just not worth worrying about when compared to other things?
Kinda like how zerg players sometimes build buildings with drones that have minerals or palyers sending a worker with minerals into a geyser.
