I opened up Unit_Test_Map. I placed two marines on the low-ground of the platform. I placed a ghost from the opposite team on the high ground (I put him on hold fire to keep him from shooting the marines). With both marines on the ground, they could not shoot the ghost, as expected. When I picked one marine up, the other started shooting at the phoenix.Picture: + Show Spoiler +
But were they able to shoot the ghost is the big question, shooting the phoenix might just mean that the gravitron beam triggers the air unit counter attack vision, basically any air unit that attacks from high ground can be attacked back regardless of vision, but ground units on the high ground cannot be.

Very good point, I didn't think of that. I retested and no they were not able to shoot at the ghost. Editing my post now.

Can anybody point me to replays / VODs of a pro terran playing mech vs zerg in a major tournament?
(The liquipedia article only has 2 and the searching turned up nothing.)
The most recent vod I would recommend would be MVP vs Sniper on Daybreak from the GSL up downs. You can't really go wrong learning builds from MVP (even if he is in a mini slump lately).

I remember seeing a picture that laid out the very basics of starcraft for somebody who doesn't know anything about the game, explaining economy, aggression etc.
I've tried searching, but I cannot seem to find it. Does anyone know where to find it??

sweet! very quick reply, thank you fine sir.

MLG posted the winter championship vods, but a very limited number, like only one game per series. For example, Polt v Stephano, just game 1. Is this normal? Should I expect more soon, or not?

This isn't really a strategy question, but why do some pros play on low graphics? sorry if this has been asked.

It seems like many pro Zergs in the GSL skip (or forget about) the Adrenal Glands upgrade after getting to hive tech -- even if they are still using upgraded lings as part of their army composition. Happens very, very often in the GSL which makes me think it's an active decision to omit the upgrade. Why?

They do this to reduce the amount of latency or lag they experience when playing the game from strain on their CPU, so that they have the smoothest possible gameplay

Having 3/3 lings attack 20% faster is ALWAYS worth 200/200 the Adrenal Glands upgrade costs. The only explanation that I can think of is that they either forget it or have such a low economy for some reason that they cannot afford it.

That's what I thought -- TONS of pros in the GSL are forgetting it on a regular basis! I'd even be willing to wager that the number of high-econ hive tech games where they forget AG outnumbers the games where they remember it. That is, in the 2012 GSLs I've seen (which is most of them)...

After an especially taxing/frustrating game, why don't players stay in a bit longer and collect themselves instead of immediately GGing out? Is it that taboo, or is the space between the game ending normally and the next one starting enough to compose oneself?

Lots of players continue to play out a game for quite some time after they've obviously lost, and you sometimes see games in the GSL where the losing player is just sitting there with his head in his hands but hasn't gg'd out yet.

What was the graphics option setups which gives best vision to see cloacked units? I never cant see observers.
Currently I play everything in ultra settings.

Believe it was just the lowest settings. However I think it was changed to make it a bit less obvious at low now.

At one point, setting everything to lowest and then setting textures to ultra would make cloaked units very easy to see, but that seems to have been fixed at some point.

Is there a protoss build order optimizer, like the Evolution chamber for zerg?

How do I kill a noobie terran that surrounded his 2 bases with turrets, bunkers and siege tanks without having to waste like 20 minutes chipping at him until he runs out of minerals while I have the entire map? what I usually do is to use your build, but get a fair amount of tanks. Then you have to save up scans and just engage in a tank battle as usual, with sitting just outside sight range but still within range. Once I have successfully set up position, I get bc's. To answer your actual question, you really cant. You just need to be patient.

I don't know if this is right area to ask, but I don't think my question deserves its own thread. Anyway the question:
How do you deal with mass cloaked banshees as protoss. I've had a bit of trouble dealing with mass cloakshees with viking support. The terran scans and snipes my obs and suddenly my army - which is most always bigger than his - is in full retreat and getting destroyed by the high DPS of the banshees. How should I be dealing with this? I tried to have a few spare obs trailing my army when my initial one gets picked off but the terran just rescans and repeats. Any ideas on how to deal with this?
