Hey, I'm a silver player who relatively recently switched to Zerg. Simple question: What basic builds should I use for ZvZ and ZvP? I'm just looking to learning the game on a basic level right now (being silver), so it seems to me that having one per matchup will do just fine while I work on my mechanics. I usually do a hatch first on 14 gas on 14 pool on 14 versus Terran.
Thanks in advance Hank

I usually do a hatch first on 14 gas on 14 pool on 14 versus Terran. Thanks in advance Hank This is what I currently use for ZvZ, if you want to play around with baneling shannanogains: 14g 14p 15h @100% pool, 4 lings, speed, pull one drone off gas, queen then overlord. (you may have to extractor trick the queen, depending on how good your drone-stacking-on-close-patches was at the beginning). Scout with first 4 lings. @60 seconds into ling speed, baneling nest. Note that you may have enough gas earlier, but this allows the nest to be hidden for as long as possible and lines the finishing of it up with ling speed.
From here, you play to your opponent. If they are greedy or just went 15 hatch, then you need to take the aggression to them with your banelings. If your hatch timing was ahead of theirs, then just defend.
If you'd prefer not to go banelings for one reason or another, here is an awesome 15 hatch guide.
For ZvP, I normally open with: 14p 15h scout on 16 4 lings at pool completion queen, then overlord. 18g Speed @ 100 gas 2nd queen ASAP
If your opponent opened gate first: mine with only 2 drones on gas after starting speed @200 gas, pull another drone off of gas drone up to 26 (should be 34 supply if you kept all your lings and 2 queens alive.) Roach warren, and 3 extra overloards.
This lines you up for a nice 8 roach timing that isn't all-in unless you follow up with speedlings, which is perfectly fine if you see your opponent is under-defended. The rule I use is: If my opponent has a cannon, don't follow up with lings and instead take a third.
If your opponent opened forge first or nexus first: A guide so I don't have to write one! Note that this is a little bit out-dated and assumes forge first without scouting, so your opener is a little bit different in this guide. Still the same basic concept, though.
If you have any questions, just ask
edit: LOL broken link, fixed.

I thought hte ladder reset was supposed to be yesterday, but it was today. Was I just plain wrong, or when they say its reset yesterday, does that mean that it only takes effect today or something?
Thanks in advance.

why is TLPD not adding every game that happen in major tournaments but only seem to random pick some games and dismiss others? It's kinda retarded cause it makes the whole ranking system much less credible. For instance if you check huks profile his last games are the ones vs MC at last MLG from the GROUP stage. He played at least 10 games after this and they dont seem like they are going to add them since they already added games from more recent tournaments..

Im not sure if this is a simple question, but why do players look for a team/clan when they attempt to go pro? Couldnt they just enter tournaments without one? What advantages are there to being in a team?

What do I do against mass zergling, baneling, muta?
The banelings simply come in and just destroy me... Thanks.

Thanks in advance. They did announce that it was Tuesday, as far as I know.

There is also the increasing likelihood that even relatively-low-level teams will still have sponsors, and can fund the travel to a tourney.

The banelings simply come in and just destroy me... Thanks. This is far too general without a replay, consider opening a help thread. Make sure you post a replay and follow the strategy forum guidelines because we aren't too lenient around here, and the rules are to help you more than anyone else.

Well that is a traditional ZvT style utilized by Idra especially. I recommend watching his games versus Bomber in the recent MLG.
Generally, as a Terran you want to seige your tanks first as the mass zerg ball comes towards you. Use your tanks to focus fire the banelings and stim your marines. The objective is to clean up all the banelings so that your marines can clean up the lings and muta. Obviously this is a very abstract response, but your question is hardly specific.

not strategy talk but simple question.
Does anyone know if anyone is working on a heart of the swarm custom map? Kind of like sc2bw but for the new hots units and such.

So I'm just curious, for the new season 1v1 map pool, i see they brought back metalopolis and got rid of searing crater, but it seems like there is something else missing but i cant remeber, does anyone know?

Possibly a very stupid question, but when playing zerg, I have a difficult time using up all of my infestor energy in a large scale engagement. I select my infestors, hit F, hold shift and blanket click the enemy army. However, the problem is that it seems that many fungals are not used and several of my infestors die without touching their energy. Am I attempting to do this the wrong way, or is there a more optimal way to perform this task?

If you are having trouble with banelings, you should try a mech style as there is little micro involved. I am assuming you are trying marine tank which can be quite difficult when playing against banelings due to the intense micro that is needed to keep your army alive.

NEVER hold shift when you are issuing orders to spellcaster units. 99% of the time they are moving and what you are doing with shift is queuing the cast spell command whilst their move command still exists.
The game translates this to 'Walk to this location, then fungal growth in that spot' which will not work and will get your units killed. What you want to do is to just press 'F' and then fungal growth the desired spot without holding shift at all. This will cause the ability to be done instantaneously.
(EDIT: You can issue orders to your spell casters while they are moving, just make sure you are not holding shift and your spell cast order will over ride the movement command.)
I hope this helps.

Aye it does help. Thanks a bunch .

I'm relatively new to SC2, and the resounding suggestion I'm hearing is to make sure I have the basics down pat before I start thinking about tricky builds or strategies.
It seems that an MM push at 7mins (around 50food) with stim seems like a solid strategy for me to work on. I want to pay particular attention to maximising my army and not skipping SVC production.
My question is - how will I know when I've mastered the basics? Will it be when I'm diamond, masters (currently plat)? Will I be able to reach diamond league with only this strat if the BO is perfect?

I just have no answer to the protoss deathball. Im talking about 6-8 voids, + 4-5 colossi and any gateway units. I usually get broodlord infestor roach, however, if they push out earlier before I can tech to broods what the hell do I do? No matter the number of roaches I have, I just get FF'ed and rolled to death.

Does anyone know when the KOREAN ladder is supposed to reset and season 4 begins?
