Change to whatever hotkeys you want to be using and load up a custom map like YABOT or Micro Trainer and just grind long sessions of using nothing but your new setup, make it a toygame and just forget about everything else other then burning in that new muscle memory for SC2, dont stop till its 2nd nature.

Add more unit producing structures and rally it to enemy base instead if you don't know what to do with money.

In TvT especially, this is perfectly fine behavior. Makes you super safe against those annoying drops that could happen when you're out of position. TvP and TvZ is a little bit more situational otherwise.

Helpful hint- select multiple SCVs- hit B, T, and then Shift click turrets onto the map. All of your SCVs will stop mining and in a minute you'll have insta-D.

Quick Q ZvZ. I like to open 14-14 with a quick baneling nest. I do pretty well with it but have problems with one specific build. If the other guy open 1 base quick roach.... what is my best option?

If I press with my initial push 5ish bane and lings. It doesnt do damage. Roaches pop at the same time with a queen and a good simcity its not good.

If i pull back I can hope they block the ramp with all their roaches and you can baneling bust. But good players dont allow that. Also if they switch to lings after initial roaches you auto lose.

If i pull back cancel bling nest after scouting with ling then expand... I am open to a 1 base timing attacks.

I played around with canceling bling nest and then blocking my ramp and teching to infestors... but by that point im behind pretty far and dont win a lot. Same with mutas.. you have to do a ton of damage or lose.

I am just at a loss... Is is just a build order loss or what? I'm playing high diamond and low masters if that matters.

A-clicking is bad because banelings will attack-move banelings attempt to explode on the closest enemy which is probably sticking out and away from the heart of the enemy ball. Since banelings deal damage when they die, you should (almost) always move command your banelings into the middle of a pack of units to allow them to deal the most damage.

Good intuition. Banelings are most effective detonating on light units, so you typically move them, not A-move (which means you need them on a separate hotkey most likely), into position. Once you're up close and personal, you can just A-move and they'll blow up all the marines, etc. For more advanced levels, you may want to specifically target them onto clumps of units, but you'll need a pretty fair APM for that feat.

Also try to keep them on creep especially early game ZvT. Separate control groups are your friend. Try to block the retreating enemy units with lings. Also if you have high APM, click a single bane as they chase and manual detonate with X... Just make sure not to X the entire control group of banes.

Can someone please tell me where I can find an efficient DT rush opener for PvP that can hold a non-optimal 4 gate? Obviously a perfect 4 gate should beat a DT rush, but realistically I can probably stall, or many opponents won't play perfect. I want to try it out. Saves me time if I don't have to engineer the BO myself.

How "non-optimal" of a 4 gate do you wish to hold? Check out MC vs Naniwa game 1 on metal from MLG Columbus.

As Zerg, whenever I create a batch of units I ctrl+click the eggs at the bottom and shift-add them to my control groups.
I like having my reinforcing units moving towards wherever my army is headed, regardless of where it goes, but it also means I have to handle the creation of different units in sequence if they belong in a different hotkey or are drones or OLs.
I'm concerned I may be handicapping myself by doing this instead of hotkeying the units after they hatch at my rally points.

Is this detrimental to my army control or macro?

Thats my method jpditri. Or at least close to it. Maybe my tweaks make it more efficient.

I'm going to make roaches, lings and corruptors and i have more larva than I need:

Select hatcheries/Larva hold down/tap R, control click eggs shift 1
Select hatcheries/Larva hold down/tap C control click eggs shift 3
Et cetera.
I just reselect my hatchery to clear the previous selection of eggs. It will take 3-5 seconds tops, and I know i'm no master player but I can dedicate 3-5 seconds of a 20 minute match to putting units coherently together in the first place.


However god help you if you control group burrow your units. You'll always accidently burrow one rally pointed. Best to select by dragging the mouse for hot burrow action.
