How that works: You launches the map and the match is unranked whithin first minute (if you has problems to load, it would not consider as lose). Within first minute you can type "-unrank" and the match will not becomes ranked - you can train and lose. Otherwise the match will became ranked and if you lose you will lost points (and gain if you win). Crap, it is 7 am here, i do it at night and there may be bugs. The map is locked for security reasons (because information about rating is client-sided and can be changed manually). But, of course, i'll send this map to kabel if it will want to add this feature to starbow. That is an very early version. In nearest furure i will add encryption of client-sided data to prevent (as far as i can) hacks. Unfortunantly, it is better to keep this map locked when publish. About ratings: i fully copied rules from ICCUP: http://ru.iccup.com/warcraft/wc_rating_system.html If you want another - please tell me, and i do as Kabel and community wants. Good news! I fixed issue when one player ragequits (by pulling the power wire :D). The statistics saved correctly and he must get his lose.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=17788857 I told him I'd let the other modding communities about his work. Please get in contact with him if you are interested or you can just let me know or something. The process is really seamless. There are limitations like what he is willing to do (currently, at least), but overall it's great. We're using ELO ratings where every ranked game counts. I think someone mentioned that he wanted Starbow to be only rated during tournaments, so I do not know. Personally, I think it is better that non-tournament games are ranked. Let him/me know!

But it seems purakushi's system has been worked on for a longer time and works well. Hope they also added that ranked games must be longer than a certain time since 10-20% of the games seems to drop someone early on.

The new map is nice! Terrans will like to expand the to the middle and take 5 bases with 3 OC's and 2 PF's while tosses should definitely investigate taking the outside expansions versus mech. Hide called NeoRequiem along the lines of "the multiask monster of a map" since there are so many places to drop and fight.

I consider to upload it after saturday, when the first day of the tournament is done. (I don´t wanna mess anything with the uploaded maps now, in case errors, bugs or something else disturbs the tournament) Or maybe its good to get the ranking system up before the tournament? Hmm........................ What do we want to archieve with a ranking system? Here are some things I find important: - Those who want shall be able to rank their games. Some players find motivation in reaching for a high rank. Others find it stressful and must be able to turn it off, in case they wanna experiment and relax. - If possible, it must be an easy system that is "play and go." Preferably no extra clients or anything must be downloaded. I want it to be easy for anyone who wanna try Starbow to just search for it in the Arcade and play it. - I will keep a map pool of 5 maps at the same time. After a couple of weeks I will rotate some of them for as long as people have interest in playing this. The ranking system needs to work on five maps and continue to work if some maps are replaced. Must the system work globally? If a player on NA plays a lot of Starbow games and then join EU, is it important that the rank "follow" him? - The rank must not be haxxed. "Yo yo look at my rank! Its 10.00000 points whoohoho" (I can´t imagine why anyone would ever do that.. but it would be cool to keep it protected so players are honest ^^) - The ranking system must still work even if I upload a new patch to Starbow. (Which I will probably do after the tournament if some imbalances are found, etc..) - Is it possible to have a place where all players ranks are collected? Like if anyone wanna see who currently has the most points on EU, where can one look? - Most importantly, I assume the main reason to have a ranking system is to help players find opponents at the same skill level? How will this work in reality? This is just some concerns and criteria I have for a ranking system. I know nothing about how this works. But based on those criteria, which of the two systems would be "best"? (If I have missed or missunderstood something important, feel free to bring more perspective into this)
