I haven't worked with banks or triggers enough to know how easy that would be to implement though, just an idea. ^^

How can players see each other ranks? After game starts rating and stats appears as a subtitles. I will change it later to mote beautiful way to show stats ![]() - Those who want shall be able to rank their games. Some players find motivation in reaching for a high rank. Others find it stressful and must be able to turn it off, in case they wanna experiment and relax. Now it is possible to turn it off, by typing "-unrank". But this unranks game for both players, otherwise it will be unfair, is not it? - If possible, it must be an easy system that is "play and go." Preferably no extra clients or anything must be downloaded. I want it to be easy for anyone who wanna try Starbow to just search for it in the Arcade and play it. My variand did not need any additional downloads, that's an advantage :D - I will keep a map pool of 5 maps at the same time. After a couple of weeks I will rotate some of them for as long as people have interest in playing this. The ranking system needs to work on five maps and continue to work if some maps are replaced. Must the system work globally? If a player on NA plays a lot of Starbow games and then join EU, is it important that the rank "follow" him? No problem for both systems. In my system rating is map-independent and version-independent. You need only to copy triggers in other maps. - The rank must not be haxxed. "Yo yo look at my rank! Its 10.00000 points whoohoho" (I can´t imagine why anyone would ever do that.. but it would be cool to keep it protected so players are honest ^^) When i will implement encryption in bank file it was not so easy to hack. Unfortunantly, to keep it safe you will need to publish locked maps. And players could reset thier stats to 0-0 easily, and save-load them. That's an advantage of purakushi's system. - The ranking system must still work even if I upload a new patch to Starbow. (Which I will probably do after the tournament if some imbalances are found, etc..) Both systems are even and map-independent and version-independent - Is it possible to have a place where all players ranks are collected? Like if anyone wanna see who currently has the most points on EU, where can one look? purakushi can do this, my version - not. I'll think if it can be possible by using only sc2 editor. - Most importantly, I assume the main reason to have a ranking system is to help players find opponents at the same skill level? How will this work in reality? If you mean auto-searching of opponents with same level - i dont think that it is possible. Each players knows his rank and can communicate with others: "Hey, d/d- i want play"

Maybe if a player typed /rank or something the rank for those playing could be shown on the left side of the screen for a few seconds? I haven't worked with banks or triggers enough to know how easy that would be to implement though, just an idea. ^^ Done! You can see your rank by typing "-rank"

It sounds good. I like that no extra client is needed. I think it sounds fair that if any player write -unrank, the game is unranked. (Unless they do it just when they are about to lose, to avoid loosing points) Maybe add a time limit? -unrank must be written in the first 30 seconds or something? The system works because I add a trigger to each individual map? Do I need to add anything to the MOD-file that is in the dependency of each map? Is it a bad thing that players can reset their stats? Will they be able to do it anytime? Is it possbile to write /rank PunchTheBag and I can see your points, number of wins and loses etc? I know I ask a lot of questions. I just wanna understand it better ^^

There is a time limit now, 1 minute. The system works because I add a trigger to each individual map? Do I need to add anything to the MOD-file that is in the dependency of each map? 1 - yes. 2 - no. Honestly, i never worked with mod-files. Is it a bad thing that players can reset their stats? Will they be able to do it anytime? I dont think that this is bad, but save and load statistics may be bad (for example, he can lose and overwrite rating file to old version). Is it possbile to write /rank PunchTheBag and I can see your points, number of wins and loses etc? If it is you current opponent - of course yes. If no - i dont think so. Now it is under investigation. I know I ask a lot of questions. I just wanna understand it better ^^ Feel free to ask me ![]()

1. Register on the SC2ReplayStats website. 2. Download either the standalone program or SC2Gears plugin. 3. Activate the above by inputting a unique hashkey that identifies them with their account on the website. Haskey found under Settings when you are logged in on the website. 4. Enable the plugin/program. 5. Create a 1v1 game versus another human on the appropriate maps and play as normal. 6. After the game ends, the replay will automatically be sent to the website database, and it will do all of the calculations for you. 7. Check the website for details, ranks, and other match statistics. - It will still work if you upload a new version or new maps. It is map or version independent. It would be nice for Breath to have some heads up, though. - If players do not wish to be ranked, they can just play without the plugin/program enabled. I have also uploaded separate maps so this is even easier. For example, [R] are ranked maps, but you still have to have the tool enabled. The other maps will never count as ranked. - Personally, I think bank files are easy to exploit, even though I hope no one would >_<. By having the statistics stored on an external server, more ways to combat cheating are available to us. Breath already has some security for this system and will continue to improve it. On top of that, we have all of the replays stored and whatnot, so it is available for us to examine if there is any weird stuff going on. - If people want to find people of similar skill, they can either just do what FISH people do and say it in chat "1436+++" or whatever. Or they can just go to the website and check who is close to them in rating and then give them a message in game. Kind of clunky, but it is definitely a start. - Right now, my mod is only on NA, but I plan on expanding it as soon as I work out a few things. The way the ranking system works right now, I believe it is a global ranking, despite people being separated by server region. Maybe later this can be changed as Breath improves its functionality, but with Global Play, I do not think this should be too much of an issue. - If the game is less than 1 minute, it will not count as ranked. There are a lot of good things about using Bank files, however. It is seamless, as there is nothing to download. Furthermore, you can just make it so that you can check stuff in-game. It really is up to you and what the community wants. ![]()

I believe that the correct usage is to treat both unit names and abilities as proper nouns, so they're written capitalized. I just looked at a couple of Liquipedia articles, and they capitalize them, as well.

Since players are not automatically matched, security is less of an issue. If a player plays against another player that cheated with the ranking file, he will find out. The result: 1. He will most likely not play against the cheating player anymore. 2. It will be known in the chat and the cheating player can no longer play anyone. or he does not find out and: 1. The person in question is quickly defeated, unless he was actually good, and it all doesn't matter in the end. 2. Nobody cares, nobody knows since ranking files are personal. Because of this, its not that much of a big deal if someone cheats with the ranking file. It will flush itself out. I still want to stress that you have to go to quite some lengths to cheat with this system, and the most likely scenario is that very few will even attempt to cheat the ranking file for a mod.

You can add an option in lobby, already beginning to choose whether to play ranked or unranked, as sc2bw.

DO YOU KNOW HOW AMAZING CAPYBARA'S ARE?! I asked my gf if I could get one, she said sure, mabye later in the future. I told her you actually needed a pool or a large swimming area for one of them. She said, ok.... Then I told her they need community, so we'll have to get a herd of Capybara. It'll be amazing!!!!!! The Capybara is second only to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxodon, but that one is extinct. Very sad day.
