    • Rally Hotkey for SC1 Profile changed from Y > R
    • Time it takes for a worker to mine a Mineral Field increased from 4.592 > 5.4
    • Time between when a worker finishes mining and when he starts to return to the CC/Nexus/Hatch reduced from 0.5 > 0.0
    • Dark Templar Hotkey for SC2 Profile changed from R > E
    • Corsair Hotkey for SC2 Profile changed from R > E
    • Rebalanced all units Acceleration and Deceleration

    • Fixed stupid Pathing Blockers on Heartbreak Ridge that should of never been there in the first place (center highground)
    • Reworked more unpathable areas, removed alot of trees to fix pathing issues and blocked vision problems
    • Fixed Siege Tanks grabbing the double damage rune in the river and bloodlusting my ass because my jackass team didn't ward it!
    • Hotkeys should now be correct for all locales

    With 1.2, SC2BW is no longer a modified map. It is now a full blown mod.
    Thanks to Blizzard's size restrictions for map/mod files, my map now contains these SC2Mod files.

    • SC2BW_-_Custom_Assets_1.SC2Mod (Imported Models/Textures)
    • SC2BW_-_Custom_Assets_2.SC2Mod (Imported Models/Textures)
    • SC2BW_-_Data.SC2Mod (All the Game Data. Units Stats and all that)
    • SC2BW_-_Protoss_Music.SC2Mod *
    • SC2BW_-_Terran_Music.SC2Mod
    • SC2BW_-_Zerg_Music.SC2Mod

          * Ignore Protoss Music, too many dependencies and the map crashes.

    These mod files are best placed inside the Starcraft II Folder
          ..\StarCraft II\Mods\

    Then there's the maps themselves. Maps can be placed anywhere on your HDD.



    Now you will learn about dependency hell.

    So, going by this diagram, you see the map file (i.e. Grand Line) uses the dependency SC2BW Data.
    SC2BW has 4 dependencies:
    1. Custom Assets 1
    2. Custom Assets 2
    3. Terran Music
    4. Zerg Music

    Dependencies are published FIRST. So you would start with Custom Assets and Music, then publish Data. THEN publish the map.

    Here is what dependencies should look like for SC2BW_-_Data.SC2Mod:

    Notice the version number on these screens. If you re-publish a dependency and it goes to version 1.1. you will have to open SC2BW Data and update the dependency to the new version and re-publish that. Then again, opening the map file and updating the new version AGAIN and re-publishing. Pain in the ass. I know.

    So to clarify.
    1. Publish Custom Assets/Music SC2Mod Files first.
    2. Then add all of them as Dependencies in the Data SC2Mod and publish that.
    3. Then open the map and add the Data as a Dependency. Publish the map.
    If correctly done, it should all work.



    Common problems that I've encountered:

    • If you open one of the maps in the editor after doing all the steps above, sometimes the map looks blank or there is no minerals/vespene/doodads.
        This is because the dependencies have failed to load.
        Typically because you are not logged into Battle.net.
      • Login.
      • Close the map.
      • Re-open it.

        If that fails:
      • Close the editor.
      • Re-open it.
      • Login to Battle.net.
      • Open the map.

        This is purely a visual problem. You can publish with this problem and it'll be fine.


    • Sometimes the editor gets confused when updating dependency versions, and thinks you want to use 2 different versions of the same dependency.
      • Save it.
      • Close the map.
      • Re-open it.

        It should be ok now. Always make sure you have the latest versions in your dependencies.


    That should be it. I'm awful at explaining things in real life, so this is probably no different. I'll upload the mods and maps to sc2mapster very soon. Good luck.

i'm sure tons of people already made maps like this
but if you're going to make everything like BW, why even play SC2

Because sc2 is nowhere near as cool or crisp as BW and EVERYONE's been dying to simply play BW in 3d graphics... also BW is much more balanced and everything is significantly cooler. like dragoons compared to stalkers, vultures compared to hellions, lurkers compared to roaches.
brood war also had significantly cooler abilities like spider mines, lurkers attacking while burrowed and reavers being able to kill like a whole control group of units in the blink of an eye. sc2 is lame and boring compared to what brood war had to offer so being able to play brood war in intense graphics would be that much better.

just a typical post that average user would be warned or temp banned for...

ie bw doesn't work for many win7 users and freezes very often so we can't play BW, so this custom map would be greatly appreciated

I can't play BW on my new Windows 7 computer, would really like to see this!!!! You should use the infestor as the protoss reaver I think.

edit: I get STORM_ERROR_REQUIRES_UPGRADE when I try to patch it... anyone know how to fix this?

I think a BW remade in SC2 would be a lot of fun, if it could be balanced. It's not something you can just port over because unlimited selection and the pathing changes completely change everything. I mean something as simple as zealot dragoon vs Tanks would be completely different because tank AI. It would take a team of quite a few A- or better players balancing it for it to be fun IMO.

definitely not wasting time, there are people who would play it. I just with those guys at Project Revolution had made their 3d models available, for that really authentic look (but in 3d)

and yeah, why would you do that. They needed a target in BW, but the vulture would drive right to it instead of the mine spawning a little distance away. But they still needed a target. Maybe easier to get multiple vultures to lay mines with a decent spread this way
