In the map textures => modify menu that opens the data editor, that we use for changing tilesets and things like that, there's an option called "hide lowest level" if ticked, it makes the background of the map be the skybox model of your choice. | ||

I think hitting Shift+H does something that disables you from seeing the placement grid as well, this has happened to me quite a few times, since it uses 2 of the 3 keys. | ||
