Bnet2.0 is a pretty girl with absolutely no brains and a mouth like a hurricane. I love LOOKING at the interface of Bnet2.0 with all it's flashy little emblems and countdowns but it is devastatingly bad for both competitive and recreational play. I feel like I am alone in the abyss and it becomes incredibly drab and boring. That is me.. a guy sitting on vent with 10+ people who has a friend list 20+ strong.. and STILL I feel lonely.. come on? Not to mention the lack of support for lan play, geographical divide and the already heinous amount of copies I will have to buy to play this game. Blizz better love and NEED the money they are getting cheaply from this game because thus far they won't be earning my loyalty from raw eSport dedication alone.. it will be a product of a robin hood jacking this game from the idiot hands of Blizz and making it accessible and fun for everyone through force. I am thinking ICCUP2.0 or something of the likes. Or.. or just maybe, someone at blizz pulls their head out of the sand and acts on their claim to care about the community and eSports.

Interesting article, however Lz should stick to speaking down the microphone. That grammar was extremely painful to read.

I think they need to keep divisions, because they allow noobs and casual players to get a sense of compitition as they fight to get higher in their silver league, but also integrate either global, or realm leaderboards. All in all I think new units added in HotS will add amazing variety to the game just like lurkers, corsairs, and medics did in broodwar.

The game is in an amazing state for a beta, and as a spectator sport I think it outdoes bw in quite a few ways. I just sincerely hope they come up with great units for HotS, because that along with the protoss disc will completely change the gameplay dynamics.

Also I seriously dislike the sensor tower, it makes harass impossible. Which in my opinion is too strong a counter part to terran mech.
I aim to become a hydralisk and then stop posting, cause I don't wanna be a queen...

IdrA: I don't particularly like it, but it will depend on how easy it is to make alternate accounts. If I can make another ID to practice in private without anyone knowing anything about it, I'm fine with official ladder matches being open to the public.

It will be relatively easy, you will just have to pay $50 (per server) more.

P.S. All bow before Idra the prophet!

I really love these articles because I respect top players like idra and the rest, it's really interesting to compare what they think to your own thoughts. It also gives a great sense of community, <3 tl, more of a community than bnet 2.0

Disclaimer, I couldn't logon with regular username at work for some reason, so I created new username just for this post.

I read and read and read these posts almost everyday, and I remain STUNNED at how naive everyone is regarding patches/balancing. I have no idea why people assume that the games balance should increase linearly as we progress through the patches. While patches may very well be improvements indirectly, the purpose of the patch is primarily data gathering. If I was Blizzard and I had a game that was pretty good, I would not waste the final weeks of my BETA making micro adjustments(not the SC vernacular "micro"). I would really rock the boat, and patch in nonsensical nerfs and buffs. All for the sake of data gathering, and defining where exactly the game should be.
I'm guessing people have this mental block that prevents them from seeing a "patch" as not necessarily an improvement. Balancing this game, like it or not, is through trial and error, laced with educated guesses. I don't see why the patches shouldn't tinker and deform as much as possible in order to triangulate the best balance more accurately.
WHY DO PEOPLE THINK the patches are moving linearly toward the final product? just becasue there are 15 or 16 patches does not mean that all the chronological changes are set in stone, and that the final product, say patch 19 or whatever, follows perfectly from the previous patches.
The final product may take things from patch 7 results a little from patch 11 results, and a little from 14 results....WHO KNOWS? As if anything Blizzard changes restricts them from going back to previous settings. lol.
Gawd, when you're trying out new build orders, you no doubt sometimes try some wonky stuff out of curiosity. And sometimes overstepping like this shows you all kinds of little things. Just because you go from a 60/40 win rate to a 30/70 winrate during this experiment does not mean you are becoming a worse player does it? You are using the experience to improve/expand your previous ability, by adding the newly discovered data to your previous paradigm.
The criticisms all over this site are awesome and constructive and help add data to the project. It's these emotional brats that cry as if their sacred cow is being dragged all over the countryside behind a speeding vehicle. They are dragging the cow around as much as possible ON PURPOSE!

Rant complete, now back to work...

Machine: Like I have mentioned before I believe Siege tank Thor Viking is very hard for zerg to deal with at the moment, and I have also noticed that it is very hard for terran's to deal with void ray's even after the range nerf (-1 range LOL)

Incontrol: Nope. I used to bitch about Broodlords but they frankly are just like several things found in broodwar. It used to be that if you allowed a terran to get maxed on 3-4 bases while going mech on Hearbreak or Destination or something you were completely screwed ZvT. The same kind of scenarios apply in SC2.. Broodlords are expensive and situational, if you allow them to get there you usually have yourself to blame. The closest to "unbeatable" or problematic imo is ZvP in general. Zerg needs to win 1 conflict to have full control of the game. I believe it stems from the inject larvae where a zerg can simply reload and punish the slightest mistake too fast and too heavily. Perhaps changing injection to +3 larvae or something will help in that regard.

IdrA: Turtle mech + vikings and ravens vs zerg is unbeatable on most maps if executed correctly.

LzGamer: If there are Unbeatable or overpowered strategies I have not seen them.

Artosis: Yeah, absolutely. Well-played Terran mech against Zerg, as well as a well done Banshee/Tank/Marine allin are both pretty much unbeatable for Zerg. There is also a timing where Protoss can move out with a ball of units that Zerg just can't seem to be able to stop. For examples of this just look at IdrA vs White-Ra and IdrA vs Tester from the most recent big tournament finals. I can't speak on TvP strategies at the moment.

Jinro: (cont'd from previous) I'd say there are no unbeatable strategies, tho there are probably a few that are currently stronger than they should be, especially on the current map pool (i.e mech on steppes of war).

I really did rofl at this bit. Everyone says something along the lines of "ZvT is extremely difficult for zerg", and the Terran just goes ahead and says that there no OP strategies.

Im not a terran or zerg though, so i can't comment, just found it funny.

Awesome writeup! I looked forward to the Bnet 2.0 part when I saw this and the responses didn't disappoint me Now let's hope Blizzard reads this and Husky's video about Bnet 2.0. (maybe sum that up and put it in the OP also?

Wow, I hated every one of Lzgamer's comments. The only useful ones here were Machine, INcontrol, IdrA, and Jinro's. Also Artosis.

Idra whines to much. Every time he loses he blames unbalance. After White-Ra beats him game five at HDH he didn't even gg. Bad loser.
