The mayor is kind of another *blue* (that is if he is a townie :p) for town right? So if he dies he's gone forever and no possibility to get a new one, right?
Never played with elections so I'm better off asking before the game starts :p

Why is this allowed? It seems to be that in certain circumstances this would effectively be akin to abstaining. For example, at the end of the day if there are no votes for me, I can effectively abstain from the vote (and from pissing anyone off) by voting for myself. Technically doesn't that break rule 6? Also, couldn't the entire town just decide to self vote every night?

You're probably going to draw more attention voting for yourself, than voting elsewhere. On November 19 2011 05:03 TheToast wrote: Also, couldn't the entire town just decide to self vote every night? How would that make sense though? Town wants to lynch scum, not give up an entire cycle and go through another round of scum kp.

They could, but according to the veterans here you should have enough info by day 2 (when the voting for lynches begin) to identify people as mafia. Whether this is true or not doesn't matter, because you know somebody's gonna accuse somebody of being scum on day 2 and then people are going to analyze the shit out of it and vote for scum because they've got a sure thing. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that a mass self-vote would be good for a town that doesn't know who the scum are, but somebody's always got an idea about who's scum.

Which is it? | ||

Bodyguards will be chosen at random from vanilla players (vanilla townies and mafia goons), mafia bodyguards do not actually protect the mayor/sheriff. Bodyguards will be notified of their status. What is the point of having mafia bodyguard if they don't actually protect anyone?

What is the point of having mafia bodyguard if they don't actually protect anyone? because as the mafia you want one of your own as a bodygaurd, so you know that you can safely shoot the mayor. Also it sets you up to claim bodygaurd to avoid a lynch.

Which is it? well not all players think the same, and often blue roles aren't in the hands of good players (lol) so if you do something dumb there's a strong chance a vig will choose to shoot you just because they want that information. Vets can't control blues, they can only influence them. Unless vets are blues themselves, of course. Vigilante shots are best used against lurking scummy players though, which often results in a bad, dumb townie flipping because they decided to fuck their wincon and become a big pile of useless.

Vig can be a very stressful role because if you mis-shoot you will have let the town down. Take your time and carefully choose a target. I generally will just shoot who I think is scum when town is in a position where we can afford a loss (ie, we aren't at lylo). I'm not always right, but I'm usually not lynched in response because I make sure I analyze that person carefully, post my evidence and push for their lynch.
