TL Mafia XLVII + Show Spoiler [Important Posts] +
Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players. Only you may post on your account. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe. If you feel that any action you are considering may be against the spirit of the game, or deemed cheating, it is best to contact a host and make sure it is allowed before proceeding/

Activity: You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.

Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.

Out of thread communication: It is common for mafia (and town circles if PMs are allowed) to use a medium outside of TL such as QuickTopics or IRC to communicate during the game. Please be mindful that other players may be more tech savvy than you and they may attempt impersonate members of your team or attempt to infiltrate your chat. You use these media at your own risk.
Voting rules: 1. Voting is done (in a separate thread, located *here*) (not yet made). Please keep votes there, and only vote there. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Qatol. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game. 5. This game uses deadline lynch, that is, the player with the greatest number of votes at the deadline will get lynched. In the case of a tie, the first player to have reached the highest number of votes is lynched. 6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
Signups: This game is open to anyone. Signups will remain open until all spots have been filled.
Game-specific rules: Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List.
Replacements This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until day 3. If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Clues: There are clues. They will be based on the player's username and anything in their profile.
PMs PMs are NOT allowed in this game.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a 24 hour night/48 hour day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is time, but that is subject to change.

Role/Setup information
This is a semi-open setup, that is, exact rolecounts will not be revealed, but all possible roles will be posted here. There will be no roles not listed, but not all roles listed are guaranteed to appear.
Please note: all roles with night actions please send a PM detailing your action to all hosts. The results of all night actions will be returned with the posting of the next day post.
Note #2: For the purpose of the Lurker Bane, a lurker is defined as a player who has a low number of low content posts, or a player who has a majority of posts that are not game relevant. Basically the Lurker Bane must make a good case of why the player is lurking to me when submitting his action.
All roles depicted here appear as they do in the actual role PMs, with the exceptions of any parentheticals
Town Aligned Roles Vanilla Townie Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a townie! You may not have a special role, but you are the most important part of the town. You are armed with three deadly weapons that will serve you well in defeating the mafia: your vote, your brain and your life. Now, go and kill the mafia before they kill everyone in the town. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Miller Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a townie! You may not have a special role, but you are the most important part of the town. Detective Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a detective! During the day you walk around like a normal townie, not revealing your identity as a super secret ace investigator. During the night you can analyze a player, figuring out their alignment, either town or mafia. Your sanity is not guaranteed, that is, you could be either sane, insane, paranoid, or naive! You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.(sanities explained here)
Medic Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a medic! You can use your medical expertise to protect your fellow players. Every night, you may select a player to protect from a night hit. You may not protect yourself. If you save a player from a hit, you will both be notified of your success. Each medic protection is the equivalent of one hit – if a player takes two hits while being protected by one medic, they will die. If you protect a veteran, your ability takes precedence over theirs. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Veteran Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a veteran! Your military experience gives you a second night life. It takes two successful hits on the same or two different nights to take you down. You will be informed if you lose your night life. Lynches still kill you as normal. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left. Being roleblocked suppresses your additional life for the night you are roleblocked.
Vigilante Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a vigilante! You are armed and dangerous. You are more than happy to take the law into your own hands, using your trusty gun, and the only bullet you could find. Once per game, at night, you may PM me a player to be shot. If your kill overlaps with a mafia or another vigilante your bullet will NOT refunded . You may not kill on night 1, as you will be too drunk from the post lynch celebration party. When you kill a player a clue pointing to you will appear in the day post, just like with mafia kills.You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Lurker Bane Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Lurker Bane!. You have been in too many towns that have been wiped out by an uncaring town being unable to fight off a cunning and devious mafia. You will hear no more of this! Armed with your special GMarshal's Lurker-Lyncher 2000 you will not allow lurkers to prosper! Once per game, at night, you may choose to kill a lurker, as long as you can provide coherent evidence that the player is lurking. If you attempt to misuse your powers by killing anything other than a lurker, your Lurker-Lyncher may backfire on you! You may not use the Lurker-Lyncher night 1 as it needs to be properly primed. When you kill a player a clue pointing to you will appear in the day post, just like with mafia kills. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Mad Hatter Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Mad Hatter!. You are what is affectionately known as a demolition enthusiast. Less affectionately as "that nut with the bombs!". You are a maniac with a suicidal bent, but you fight for the town, you have two home made high explosive bombs. Every night you may plant one bomb on a player, or move a bomb from one player to another. When you die the bombs go off, each counts as a single kp. If a player is killed while you have a bomb on him (shot or lynched) you lose the bomb. If a player with a bomb on him is modkilled, your bomb will be refunded. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Rolecop Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Rolecop!. You are a master sleuth, expert at finding out the roles of other players through simple observation and a little creative investigating. Every night you may choose to check a player, in the morning you will be informed of their role, but not alignment. Mafia goons and vanilla townies will both return vanilla. Godfathers may select what role to appear as to your checks. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Town Roleblocker Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a town roleblocker! Every night, you may choose a player whose active night action you will prevent. Players will be informed that they were roleblocked regardless of whether or not an ability was actually prevented. Roleblocking bodyguards does not affect their ability to protect their designated leader. You win when all threats to the town are dead, and at least one town aligned player is left.
Mafia Aligned Roles Mafia Goon Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Mafia Goon!! Your goal in this game is to deceive and destroy the town. To help you do this you have your vote, and the ability to talk with your team. Every night you may discuss with your team who you wish to kill. You win when you outnumber the town or nothing can stop that from occurring Your team is: Your Quicktopic is:
Mafia Godfather Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are the nefarious leader of the mafia, the Godfather himself. The mafia chooses the godfather or godhathers from amongst themselves on night 1. The godfather always appears town to detectives and can choose what he appears to rolecops. The Godfather must be chosen from the mafia goons, as non-goon scum have other duties to fulfill. Mafia Medic Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Mafia Medic! Like your town counterpart you may select a player to protect from a night hit each night. You may not protect yourself. If you save a player from a hit, you will both be notified of your success. All detective checks on that player will be reversed, that is, if a framed Vanilla townie would return Mafia to a sane detective, while a framed mafia roleblocker would return town. Mafia Rolecop Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a mafia rolecop! Every night you may choose a player to investigate, finding out their role, this extra information will be invaluable for finding those dangerous town power roles, that may be hiding amidst the lurkers. Mafia Vigilante Welcome to TL Mafia XLVII! You are a Mafia Vigilante! You have taken up arms in the service of evil and are even more bloodthirsty than the rest of the mafia. Once per game you may go out on your own and brutally murder another player. This kill is in addition to any normal kills performed by your faction if your kill stacks with another kill, your hit will NOT be refunded.You may not perform this kill night 1. Elections This game uses elections! That's right folks, day 1 you will all be voting for a mayor , rather than for who you want to lynch. The man (or woman) you elect to the august position of mayor will determine your day 1 lynch. The player with the most votes at the end of day 1 will become the mayor, the runner up (player with the second highest vote total) will become the sheriff. In the case of a tie the player to have reached the highest number first wins. In addition your two elected officials will receive a number of bodyguards that will make them immune to all night actions (except roleblocks, although being roleblocked will not affect their *elected* powers, only their role based powers). Elected roles keep their original role, that is an elected detective still gets to make night investigations. Bodyguards will be chosen at random from vanilla players (vanilla townies and mafia goons), mafia bodyguards do not actually protect the mayor/sheriff. Bodyguards will be notified of their status.
Mayor You won the day one election! You are now the defacto leader of the town, and have a huge burden on your shoulders. Your first responsibility is to lynch someone to celebrate! Unfortunately you will not be able to lynch the Sheriff due to political reasons. From this point forward your vote counts for three votes, instead of one, as you are now a man of authority. You also have the power to, four times per game, at night, declare that the next day a double lynch will take place. When that happens, every player will gain two votes, and at the end of the day the two players with the most votes will be lynched. Players may not vote for the same player twice (obviously). You also know that your bodyguards are:

Sheriff So close! You almost won the day one election, but instead came in second. Now you have been relegated to being the local law enforcement. You may, every night, imprison a player in the county jail, making them unable to take any night actions, but also making them immune to any night actions that might be performed on them. You may not imprison the same player two nights in a row. Also in case the mayor gets killed (by lynch or otherwise), you gain control of the remaining double lynches, if any. You also know that your bodyguards are:
As long as they are alive you are immune to all night actions, except roleblocks.
Bodyguard You have been selected to protect the mayor and the sheriff. You do not know who the other bodyguards are. As long as you live the mayor and sheriff are immune to all night actions except roleblocks. If you are mafia then you will be a poor bodyguard, allowing kills to go through if all non-mafia bodyguards are dead

Signups A note on sign ups. This is a megamassive game, that means there is no cap on how many people may sign up, we are aiming for as many people as we can get, that means that if only 30 people sign up, we will balance around that, but if 70 people do, we will also balance around that. Remember: the more the merrier. Just post /in to sign up! If we exceed 80 players we may have to make some modifications, still, sign up. Players!

I don't see any specific format to sign up to the game, is there one other than /in?

Can the sheriff roleblock a mafia kp? If the sheriff can be targeted by night actions, won't he just be roleblocked every night (assuming mafia has a roleblocker).
Can a guy with 3 posts on day 3 be targeted by the Lurker Bane or do you have to prove the difference between an inactive player and a lurker?

And yes, the sheriff could theoretically be eternally roleblocked, but roleblocks don't stop abilities from elected powers, only natural role abilities. So if you roleblock the sheriff he can still imprison people normally.
For the purposes of lurkerbane, lurkers and inactives are equivalent, unless those three posts were wall of text analysis that blew me away, the lurker bane would be perfectly able to target the 3 post player.
