I thought all mods knew that? o.0 and elected roles again? seriously? :/ I've seen games where DTs get their checks back quickly, such as Caller's last game when he returned the results of the check promptly. I'd assume as such that it should be that everybody gets actions responded to simultaneously, since that brings fairness to this time cycle-based game. I recall when browsing the TL mafia guidelines and tips topic, I think I saw mention of the BG/elected official thing. I've not read a game on TL (haven't read them all) besides BC's XVI where both the elected officials survive not getting lynched. Because in past games elected officials were immune to role checks, inherently the town is suspicious of them. Furthermore, I've read about the problem that is tedium: needing to kill bodyguards before being able to strike at the elected roles. With the bodyguards being chosen anonymously and randomly (and there is never any incentive for a BG to give up his role) it would be very hard to hit bodyguards and would be a 'waste' of mafia firepower. With this setup, I'm attempting to alleviate these problems some. Having elected officials open to role check is just something new I'd like to try, and it forces the DTs to make another choice when choosing who to role check, and how to announce it. With Bodyguards instead being the ones who are immune, the town will be more suspicious of them, and it raises a cat-and-mouse game between the mafia and medics. It's not a perfect solution, mind you, but I just want to give the non-immune elected roles and pedestal bodyguards a whirl. So sorry if you're disappointed :/

Having any role that takes a lot of effort to kill is going to be hard to balance imo unless they are a third faction role that has to have it to survive. If lets say...a Detective gets Mayor or Pardoner they should instantly roleclaim. Kill the bodyguards if you want but now we've got Medics too! Medics prot bodyguards. Bodyguards cant be killed. So now its back to find the doc syndrome. Except when you kill the doc, now you can kill the bodyguards. And if both of them don't die you've just tattled on your Mafia buddy. So how does the Mafia stop that?

Mayors that know their BGs in old games technically gave the town a group of Masons (pure ownage). So how does the Mafia stop that? Eh, I agree with you on all those points. Though all I can say is give it a whirl, who knows. Plus, if the medics are indeed protecting the bodyguards then the rest of the town is open to snipes. (cat-and-mouse scenario, again.) Either way, I can see how things can become tedious for the mafia, but as a relative newcomer, personally I find the elected roles add a bit more fun into the game. Worse if the DT also gets 3 votes v_v Just letting you know ahead of time this is hella broken but o well ^_^ Mlah, I got the suggestion from a few of the other higher-ups and it sounded good to me. If it really does turn into a game-breaking strategy then we'll know what not to do for future games, da? Also I lolled at the phrase 'rape face.'

I honestly can't think of a game where DTs got the rolechecks back at the end of the night before this one.

I honestly can't think of a game where DTs got the rolechecks back at the end of the night before this one. It was like that from way way way back. I've only been a DT once on TL so I didn't know mods were doing that. Technically no one is supposed to talk at night. So if a cop gets an RC during the night before it ends it kinda screws the Mafia over. Hence even if the Cop dies that night his information still got out. If they get their information back before night ends then they are daytime cops and should be called as such.
