Im REALLY impressed with Fnatic.
Also, maybe AmazingJ was better, idk if putting in Koro1 was the best choice.

g1 he was definitely better, g2 he majorly fucked up in a snowball matchup then got the ever loving shit camped out of him with a fed lb and riven on other team. G3 he did ok.

still waiting for a series that isn't a stomp...hoping tomorrow will have a good one

To be honest I rather see QG or Snake playing at World's. At least they are not bloated by money.

They're just as bloated by money as any other Chinese E-sports organization.

It's a pitiful excuse at best and no excuse at all at worst. What this worlds has shown is that LPL management completely dropped the ball when it comes to integrating the Korean imports, preparing their teams for worlds, and in thinking about their region's match ups against other regions. The LPL analysts also all failed to see this and even MonteCristo failed to see it.

And no, I don't think teams eg QG and Snake would've been able to out perform the top European and Korean teams here. So enough with the idea that iG and LGD didn't deserve to be here. EDG, which I think nobody thinks is actually worse than QG/Snake, did equally bad.

This isn't a failure of one team, two teams, etc. The entire region failed. It didn't matter which teams they sent. They were ALL out classed.

You're just shifting blame.

I'm placing the blame where it ought to be.

To be specific, I think the practice culture in China was and is, above all, the main problem with their region. This talk about Chinese teams/players not practicing, and not try harding in scrims, etc. pervades both Dota and LoL. This is a management issue, and it was shown in full force this worlds by Chinese teams not practicing in the new version, not going to Korea to play against the other teams, not working together, etc.

Listen to what people such as Sanshao posted about the way the Koreans structured their scrims, the way the Europeans did, etc. and the way the Chinese did it, and you get what I'm saying. This has actually been a long standing issue in China and it's hurt them in Dota in the past, so I'm easily able to say that it's the same issue in LoL.

Why are they so successful in dota2 with a much smaller playerbase?

I think China might have the same issue as NA. Where streaming is so lucrative that being a pro is more stress for a marginal gain. The talent doesn't really want to go pro and when it does it's more about enjoying the short ride.

For one, they don't import 40% of their player base in Dota, and so have to develop their players themselves...

But of greater importance, I think, is that Dota has A LOT of international tournaments, and this helps a region that has a bad practice culture because they don't need to practice when they get their experience straight from a dozen+ tournaments. Chinese Dota doesn't need to figure out a patch in isolation of everyone else, the way they do in LoL. They're able to do it through playing - and losing, usually - against Western teams at the start of a version.

Then come the big tournaments, they're already hardened against that version and know how to play it.

man I wasnt paying that much attention to Azarkon's posts about China but now i truly feel for my brothers on liquiddota.

If KOO beats KT, I think fnatic will play finals.

It also helps that major patches in DotA are significantly less frequent, so a region whose habits thrive in a stable, developed version will perform better because there are less periods of new patch instability.

To support what I said above, the worst year for Chinese Dota was 2013, and this was the year in which there were the smallest amount of tournaments for Chinese teams to go to.

If memory serves it was also the year in which the pre-TI patch was closest to the main event. Though that year was exceptionally strange given the weird ACE decision to limit top team participation in even domestic tournaments. A lot of backward decisions were made that year in Chinese DotA, lol.

Rekkles saying they can take the whole thing and Febiven stating they have been scrimming all teams basicaly, makes me all fuzzy inside. So they must at least not get smashed by SKT in scrims. Fnatic 3:2 SKT finals the dream for the greatest moment in esports.

Actually SKT 3:2 Fnatic would be the greatest moment in esports. Korea assassinated, humiliated, depreciated, and finally, restored. The glory.

Why? Because he got camped? He did make a mistake in lane as fiora vs riven which prompted FNC to capitalize but he outplayed Huni several times too.

I hate this logic where people look at CS numbers and say "oh wow he's so good!". Some teams really help their tops get ahead others don't. EDG helped Koro more than they helped AmazingJ tho. AmazingJ got the Dyrus treatment vs SKT.

There will be no glory. FNC vs OG finals. EU masterrace.

It also was the year in which Chinese Dota was acting the same way Chinese LoL was acting prior to this year's worlds - ie "Western teams don't know what they're doing. We're going to crush them." etc. a month before Alliance went to China and completely crushed all Chinese teams.

Even so, they placed 4th in 2013, which I think just goes out to show that Dota international competition is, in fact, weaker than LoL competition due to the absence of Korea. Thus, even a completely clueless China in 2013 was able to go in and smash all but the two best Western teams and one SEA team.

Not so in LoL because of Korea.

I mean, that goes without saying, simply because in DotA NA has internationally relevant teams.
