Also, maybe AmazingJ was better, idk if putting in Koro1 was the best choice.

G3 he did ok. still waiting for a series that isn't a stomp...hoping tomorrow will have a good one

Where streaming is so lucrative that being a pro is more stress for a marginal gain. The talent doesn't really want to go pro and when it does it's more about enjoying the short ride. For one, they don't import 40% of their player base in Dota, and so have to develop their players themselves... But of greater importance, I think, is that Dota has A LOT of international tournaments, and this helps a region that has a bad practice culture because they don't need to practice when they get their experience straight from a dozen+ tournaments. Chinese Dota doesn't need to figure out a patch in isolation of everyone else, the way they do in LoL. They're able to do it through playing - and losing, usually - against Western teams at the start of a version. Then come the big tournaments, they're already hardened against that version and know how to play it.

It also helps that major patches in DotA are significantly less frequent, so a region whose habits thrive in a stable, developed version will perform better because there are less periods of new patch instability.

If memory serves it was also the year in which the pre-TI patch was closest to the main event. Though that year was exceptionally strange given the weird ACE decision to limit top team participation in even domestic tournaments. A lot of backward decisions were made that year in Chinese DotA, lol.

So they must at least not get smashed by SKT in scrims. Fnatic 3:2 SKT finals the dream for the greatest moment in esports. Actually SKT 3:2 Fnatic would be the greatest moment in esports. Korea assassinated, humiliated, depreciated, and finally, restored. The glory.

He did make a mistake in lane as fiora vs riven which prompted FNC to capitalize but he outplayed Huni several times too. I hate this logic where people look at CS numbers and say "oh wow he's so good!". Some teams really help their tops get ahead others don't. EDG helped Koro more than they helped AmazingJ tho. AmazingJ got the Dyrus treatment vs SKT.

It also was the year in which Chinese Dota was acting the same way Chinese LoL was acting prior to this year's worlds - ie "Western teams don't know what they're doing. We're going to crush them." etc. a month before Alliance went to China and completely crushed all Chinese teams. Even so, they placed 4th in 2013, which I think just goes out to show that Dota international competition is, in fact, weaker than LoL competition due to the absence of Korea. Thus, even a completely clueless China in 2013 was able to go in and smash all but the two best Western teams and one SEA team. Not so in LoL because of Korea.

I mean, that goes without saying, simply because in DotA NA has internationally relevant teams.
