Don't forget that meteos farming is their strenght but since the other jungler was way ahead their whole strategy was gone.
[S3 Worlds] Quarterfinals - Page 125

Two things as public notice: 1. + Show Spoiler [Quarterfinals 1 spoiler] + Congrats to Fnatic, they played superbly and glgl to them in the Semis! No one is saying that Fnatic only won because of the level 1 in Game 3. Please keep the nationalistic statements out of our subforum. 2. Riot's Worlds format is atrocious. Let's not beat a dead horse here. I will certainly be talking to Riot's eSports dept about it in the near future. I simply ask everyone to be civil. Humble in victory, graceful in defeat. Enjoy the games~ -Neo, Sept 23rd, 3:20 PM PDT, page 120

Like the analysis desk said, if c9 sat back and played a more passive/defensive game their team composition did seem stronger than the pick/assassin composition that Fnatic was playing. And this is just my opinion, but this probably highlights more-so a fundamental issue that Riot's been pushing more and more as of late: with small but significant changes to the various champs (especially the mid lane ones) it's allowing these pick/assassin champs to shine. Granted, I think I'm ok with it, as assassin champs are inherently dangerous, as if they get shut down they're useless in mid/late game. It's a fundamental choice that these teams are deciding: that a high-risk, high-reward, skill intensive champion is better/stronger than a more team-heavy/wombo combo team fight composition. Also, so much dirt being thrown on Doublelift. I think the relative dearth of any of the more immobile mid lane champions stands testament to that. No Xerath, Lux, Cassio, Karthus (I've only seen Dyrus play him top), etc. There was the Cool Syndra, but that's about it. I would argue the risk/reward factor is currently skewed towards reward, as assassins can't be shut down hard "enough" so to speak. Even if an assassin like Fizz or Ahri get behind, they have ways at coming back, and still have decent impact on the game.

Sucks for you, Europe has the bragging rights for another year. (or until next allstars when europe sends a mix of russians, french & german who play 3 ranked5 games to prepare, again) Also btw. that lvl 1 was an advantage but I've seen teams come back from a bad lvl 1 18-0 is just utter domination though.

Well, we know how they can lose: level 1 kills/mistakes, which is also a huge weakness for most of the Korean teams. If c9 can correct that major weakness of their game play, for Season 4 I just don't see how they aren't back in it for Worlds, only now with more game experience, more international level experience, and probably helping to elevate the competition in NA as well, so that the other teams (TSM, Vulcan, CLG, etc.) are playing better and keep the scene competitive. But we'll see how season 4 shapes up, because who knows what Riot's going to do for season 4.

They seem to have the same weakness as Korean teams as you noted, and it turns out going into midgame against a truly world-class team majorly behind will cause you to lose, and lose hard.
