so excited for this especially since it has great hours for eu lol and it''s still vacation haha, I love my life.
edit: Not gonna lie though, although Im excited for this, I still think that whatever NA team qualifies is gonna get smacked at s2 finals by clg.eu/M5 and the koreans and that's only 5% of my euro/korean bias speaking and 95% of objectively watching ALOT of LoL during the last couple of months. I dunno about CLGEU... They lost to SK and TSM beat them the last time they faced each other. I think M5 is the only team that every NA team should really fear atm. CLG eu loseing to SK was a fluke imo. CLg just played really really bad for some reason that series make silly mistakes that they usually don't. I've don't think the finals of the eu regionals would have been such a stomp if it was clg vs m5 instead of Sk. Yellowpete talks in this vlog about it: CLG yellowpete post-gamescom vlog
Ah, thanks for the link to that - quite nice and measured. I had to check the date it was uploaded (last Friday) when, talking about accusations of their play being boring, YellowPete said "in a final, you're not going to try and risk anything for the sake of entertaining people - that's not what anyone in their sane mind would do".

Got my ticket for tomorrow's matches printed out. Never been to a big RL LoL tournament before. It's vindicating to see this game so big now. When Riot was first at PAX, their booth was a 10-computer LAN (one of which wasn't even working) with some shoutcaster who had a cold telling everyone how the game worked. Now they have an entire floor of the expo all for themselves.

So the timing for these matches is utterly terrible the first 2 days...2 and 5 PM EST, its like telling NA plz don't watch our NA tournament except for match 2 these days if you get home by 5 if you are east coast only.
|
I'm a big noob can someone tell me if there is or is not a stream of this tourney? Can't find a link to it anywhere if there is one.

and double elim sundays suck balls for the viewers. I think circuit points could work well, but when they were implemented the scene was still too new, and I think it stifled opportunities to some degree. I think this is true in the sense that TD would be MINIMUM 4th seed if they had existed on jan 1st (they haven't finished under 4th in a major with nintendude) but if you think any other team can crack into the top 3 you are kidding yourself. I agree. Td vs dig is a good example, both are real shots at top 3, but cause of the format one of those teams isn't going to get the chance.
To whoever said osl, yeah, that format would work too. A single elim sucks when there's a player or team a level above the rest. Winning their side of the bracket is almost a formality, but it sucks for the other teams on that side who may be stronger than the other side of the bracket

we might agree on some things but I still think double elim is the worst tournament format known to man.

8pm and 11pm, I guess I know what I'm doing tonight yay

Glad to see you continue on my legacy of the LoL LR threads JBright, your peristance rocks

I don't really like double elim, I'd have preferred an OSL-style (5 matchups - seed1vseed4 | seed2vseed3 -> winner vs winner | loser vs loser | the 2 teams that are 1-1 play each other) or round robin style (less preferred) setup for the first round. It gives us a few more matchups, so you get to see more than just "o well, flash / tsm crushed soandso and now they're out." It also gives a chance for someone who otherwise plays say, TSM first to squeeze through and potentially still get 2nd place.
OSL-style (although I think it was the MSL was the one that did this?) is really just 4-man double elim with Bo1s. Actually I wouldn't really mind that at all, we'd get to see more matchups. But I think that double elim AND Bo3s together take way too long, you'd probably want to use one or the other

But it's undeniable that CLG.eu had some problems, especially with Froggen. Hopefully they're back in shape for S2 though because I'd say they're definitely a contender for top3 at least.
Based on their play in OGN I'd say it's fair to assume EU finals was a bit of fluke and they're one of the favorites for S2

Who's the guy in the picture in the OP? I definitely have seen him but just can't put a name to his face ><

OK I am thinking maybe I should make a sign that says "I got the reset (yes!)" and bring it to the Dig game. I wonder how I should print it out and how big I want it to be, though.

Looking forward to this event, I've got 1st TSM, 2nd CLG, 3rd Dignitas down as the 3 to make it through.
It's a Riot run event as someone pointed out so they are using Riot only employees which I can fully understand. 5 casters for EU Regionals was way too many so it would be silly to have anymore at PAX Prime. Really wish I was there though as it looks awesome!
You'll be seeing me at more events soon enough, I still have about 10 days left to use up! Just need to choose the events wisely if asked.
