He isn't saying build Alistar/Taric pure AP, he's saying spend your gold on something useful instead of getting philostone/Shard of True Ice and other crap that isn't that useful when you have the income to straight up build stuff like Grail, Icebourne Gauntlet, and Frozen Heart and most of your income is generated passively.

well kindle is fine if only it gives CDR. spending the extra gold on negatron and then visage is incredibly selfish and wouldn't help your team as much as getting more mana, CDR or AP, in that order of priority. alistar (and to a lesser extent taric) have a high tendency to overheal themselves anyway, visage is just silly overkill (or overheal)

Hp and resists so you can initiate and disrupt and not die are far far better for your team than AP, expecially for healing cdr is basically the only thing thats important as it has a .1 AP scaling for ally heal. Not saying visage is good but its not bad and I would never buy AP over any sort of survivability on Ali.

I love it on Alistar since it offers everything I want on him. CDR, Tank and stronger heal. I don't consider it a selfish buy at all, it will make you stick around (the boost of tank granted by stats and massive heal boost) cannot be understated; and as we all know a dead cow is no heals.

Regarding his heal I think you are looking too much into the displayed ratio, and not the practical ratio. How I consider it:
n allies = in range 0.n ratio
-- as all other heals are single target.

Then with the spam heals during waves I don't think his heal ratio is all that bad. Basically, if my team does not desperately need a tank from level 3 I'll aim towards tanky-ap cow as I've found him scale much stronger, besides where else do you get to eventually buy Lich Bane on Alistar.

1. reroll
2. build him ap

i cry a little inside. athene's is the only ap item you should get because the ap is almost just icing on the cake considering the cdr mana and mr it gives.

raka should build athene's -> cdr boots -> guise -> rylai's -> zhonya's IMO. full cd (with masteries), fairly tanky, does ton of damage, always heal never not heal

Exactly. I'm not saying build pure AP, just build like you actually have an income.

But as sob3k pointed out, when you have a heal you basically should always rush Athene's and cap your CDR. Sustained healing is so very, very powerful in ARAMs.

I always cry when I see Alistar players start Emblem of Valor, because while their heart is in the right place I know they're wasting Alistar's potential.

Athene's just seems like a must on anyone who can remotely use the stats (meaning: anyone who uses mana and has AP ratios). ARAM is all about sustained presence: 20% CDR means 20% of all of your kit, the mana fuels it, and the MR means you don't get poked out as easily.

Unfortunately as we have no way of knowing our behind the scenes MMR there's really no answer to that question.

While you'll start finding people who do that eventually, a big part of the problem is that it's easily the single most difficult call one can make in an ARAM. Depending on team composition, champion, spawn times, how late in the game it is etc. the correct choice when deciding between survival and suicide changes and blurs. At higher ARAM Elos games are won and lost on that decision, much like Baron.

How do you guys build Syndra? Just come from a game where we had one carrying our team hard as hell, only thing I noticed was she rushed for 40% CDR and then controlled all fights with massive AoE stuns due to the higher amount of balls she could lay out.

@Ezreal guide: I always build him AP in aram, as you mention his issue is getting items - which is "easy" in aram. Starting with Sheen and gives plenty of damage early. I also prefer playing him 30/0/0, this helps his weak early game prescence, because the only times you usually die are unavoidable or intentionally.

Yeah, it seems like the best Syndra build for ARAM would be the same as for SR: Athene's, Morello, then MOAR AP.

Sounds right. Looking back at match history she finished with Morello, Athene, Swifties with Alacrity (wut?) and Seekers. Think she was just having fun after 40% cdr and boots 1 tho.

So for AP's how are you guys opening up?
If I want to get morellominicon as first item I open up with philostone + farie charm +boots +pots.
The regen is really strong for early game stats on ARAM.

If it's a Athenes first, chalice first opening is the obvious choice, with boots + pots.

If Tears stacking, I get tears, then I try to die pretty quickly early on the second I get enough gold for chalice. Then Chalice + tears = stacking tears super ridiculous fast.
