Sick! Gotta say, as a longtime lurker who randomly got LotV - looking forward to playing in this, losing in this and eventually laughing at myself when watching re-runs :D :D

BaseTradeTV will cover the league and qualifier in English !
For anyone wondering: The TaKe-subscribers are known as "Ultras" and their donations go towards the pricepool - but it is not a crowdfunded event as such as far as I know. Also, as round robin seems to have become somewhat synonymous for the GSL-type system I´d like to point out that here everybody plays against everybody else once.

Doesn't BasetradeTV covering something just go without saying these days? What was the last non-korean event they didn't cover?

Nah its not true. We have partners for the league. We simply name it Legacy of the Ultras because we want to promote how awesome our community at TaKeTV is and want to give something back to them - thus this league. Donations have nothing to do with pricepool, thats already covered

17 invites - 3 qualifier slots. We already have ~10 or so invites done, a few pending and a few still open.

This is exactly what the beta needed : an amazing tournament that gives an incentive for players to start playing seriously and optimize their build orders. If something is broken and need to be change we will see it.
"3 Qualifier slots are up for grabs" Why do you invite more than 80% of the players ? The qualifiers could be interesting too.

Oh ok, because the OP talks about the "first qualifier". I was hoping for a more open tournament but I'm still hyped, don't worry.

Because in the current state Zerg and Terran are superior to Protoss. We wanted to make sure we also do have Protoss players in the tournament and I believe invites bring a bit of balance between races / nationality and you can choose interesting people.

Thanks for the info, yoshi. I was wondering what sort of buff/crazy Ultralisk mod was going to be in this tourney :D

I like TaKeTV, but the only really lame thing is their biased invites and almost no chance, due to only 1 qualifier, that other players beside those beloved ones can enter the tournament. That should change!

In this case an invitation-system is very useful, also with HSC where you want to have players who are comfortable with casting and such, but TakeTV has always been very invite-focused and biased in my opinion.
Here I see no problem with it though - there are no WCS points on the line, it's a beta tournament to showcase the new game and Foreigners may very well put more effort into that than the Koreans anyways. I also like the Bundesliga-format, old memories of EPS came up in me after reading that. ^_^

Yeah, inviting the weak race makes perfect sense here. Even if most of the Protoss will actually lose in the first round. OH I have just found NarutO's secret plan

I know that in terms of organization, invitations are more easy to manage. But i think they're a lot of ways to involve the community to pick even just ten players. And if you're afraid of the current race imbalance, well, one qualifer/poll/KoH per race can be a solution. I dont mind when it's HSC because pple come to your place but here it's a online tournament.

Same thing like for Gfinity Spring Masters II. How do people pay the players to go there? I mean the chance of getting some of the kinda low money is not high. Is that even worth it? Love both events but i just don´t understand how they work offline. Can somebody tell me please?

Watching a row of sentries explode like water balloons to lurker spines is like masturbating with your feet; tricky, doesn't happen often, but so totally worth it.

I can't wait for the day people stop using twitch. Trying to watch these qualifiers, the ads load perfectly smoothly and fine, but then the streams don't even work on low. Azubu needs to get more popular, its so much better it's not even funny

I will take everything with a grain of salt, since the game isn't even figured out yet. I am not sure exactly how weak Zerg is with Lurkers and new almost broken Swarm Hosts. Not even mentioning that Vipers became Defilers of SC2 now with Parasitic Bomb because they are countering everything now, funny thing is that most of the people forget about that ability and just get crushed by enemy air. Late game Cracklings and 8 armor Ultralisks take the lead.
Yes Ravagers are nerfed, and they really need to be redesigned into something else, but I doubt that Zerg is the weakest race, unless you are looking just into the early game where they seem a bit weaker since Ravager nerf.

Yeah the problem seems to be that zerg just dies in the early game or is always behind after the early game, thanks to new Reapers and Adepts. But who cares, it's the beta, it's good that zerg has to use other units than the ravager for a while until Blizzard puts them back into the game.

I agree, but still it just feels like that they didn't adapt to the new Reapers and Adepts yet. Ravagers are just big Roaches right now, that are also weaker and it doesn't make any sense lol. Only reason you would use them right now is against Force Fields and that's it.
I will admit, it will be interesting to watch a gateway unit with a large amount of shield compared to hitpoints. Might force ghosts into play again. Or atleast a lot of widow mines We'll see.
The adept certainly looks like a core unit right now.

Yeah I think they should patch Ravagers back again and make them Lair tech instead. Maybe give zerg hatch tech Hydras, without the speed/range upgrade of course which would stay Lair tech.

Oh god, the balance comments in this thread are so far gone it's depressing. The number of threads on this kind of thing are overwhelming.
I really don't see how zerg is the weakest as well. They just got so much new powerful stuff to work with. 8 armor ultras, lurkers, vipers, real cracklings (personal favorite :p ). I guess the problem right now is surviving till the good parts.

Exactly, if zerg gets to the midgame without falling behind early, they are absolutely now weak at all. Just doesn't seem to happen right now .
It's completely normal too and nothing too worry about, Blizzard just doesn't want to see Ravagers every game.
But now look at early game buffs for each race and you will see Zerg got none, while Adepts and Reapers are going ham. Could also be zergs adapt and learn to defend in the next weeks without a patch.
The thing is when you take a look at those ZvX early games, all of the Zerg players are doing quite a big mistakes against Reapers/Tank Drops etc. We can't really judge about ZvX until we see top Koreans in the current state of the game but even without them game will probably change in 1-2 weeks.
