Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here. Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk. |
This is sick thanks!
You guys should also try the unit tester http://www.mediafire.com/download/k5ynkqc80mx9amk/UnitsTester_LotV.SC2Map
It's awesome. Adepts can actually figght marines it seems, and the shade is freaking fast and can go a huge distance, so you can teleport a huge distance with the adepts. Especially if you go the other way with the real Adept.
Oh and morphing Ravagers look beautiful .

Yeah there are also no grid hotkeys sadly :/.

I fear that the teleporting ability will be really hard to balance while keeping it different from blink.

A lot of our old habits are going to be shaken by this expansion, far more so than for T and Z players.

Toss's central design has been one of the worst parts of SC2, so I'm glad they're willing to alter it.

I'm not sure of that, adepts and disruptors look pretty strong and LotV prism is probably plain broken. But most of our usual compositions are going to be obsolete from what it looks like, and some work will need to be done to deal with roach ravager.

There are big changes coming for every race, buddy. Don't act like you're special.

Some more good news. SC2 LotV uses Asserts to check data integrity in runtime. So far there has been none. Now hard time for maphackers is coming and it really isn't easy to bypass. A little tiny change in SC2 memory -> Crash.

Immortals have been buffed vs all five tier one units by giving barrier. Hardened shield exclusively activated against +3zealots, which is a minor nerf in the one matchup where it hardly matters.
The interesting part is the change in interaction with higher tier units, which hopefully in sum works as a nerf turning the immortal into less of an high tier hardcounter, low tier deadweigth unit.

You can't act like immortals and warp prisms are ruining all of Starcraft.

But if you're rushing your opponent early with Immortals, if they intercept you midway across the map and force barrier usage and then disengage, they can hit you again when it is on cooldown (lasts 3 seconds, has 60 second cooldown). Basically how they bait Forcefields now.

Basically how they bait Forcefields now. Why would you activate barrier before your shields are down? Rushing in will just result in the opponent taking free damage in comparison to now, while the immortal will have some shields regenerated for the next fight. It's a straight up buff against anything that doesn't do more than 10damage per hit. And against those units, it is still to evaluate. As long as you keep your immortals in your deathball, it's not like small groups of units can force an activation of the ability (sadly. I think the ability would be much better if it was autocast on depleted shields or something like that; would also remove the boring task of tabbing through another protoss unit to press a button, a meaningless skill that only makes it hard for newbs but has no influence whatsoever on higher tier play)
What's the stats of barrier again? 200 more hitpoints? That's a massive combat buff against marauder/roach/hydralisk/stalker/hellbat/Colossus-type of units in an amove battle, even though they have more than 10damage.
