It's understandable though, this is an international event, and they have a lot to gain from asian audiences. Of course they're going to rule this way. (also, insert joke about how initial ruling for Ray Rice was only 2 games of regular season)

What about accidental racism though? Like I highly doubt he maliciously made the name because he hates asians. I agree with Eppa that that is a really danish kind of joke, which would have had absolutely no malice behind it.
Like it's fine for americans (who live in the social hot-bed of must-not-be-racist) with your cultural melting pot of races, to look at that and go "oh that's so racist, lifetime ban plz." But in denmark, (and especially anywhere in denmark except the few large cities) that wouldn't really be seen as offensive at all tbh. Denmark just doesn't have asians at all, (like walking around the center of the second largest city in the country for several hours i'd see maybe a single black person, and not a single asian. There's no real concept of boundaries as to what would be offensive to them, i can almost guarantee he wasn't aware "ching chong" was actually offensive.
Basically knocking SK completely out of the tournament for that feels like riot are just hanging Svenskeren out to dry because they don't want their massive PR campaign which is LCS tarnished in any way. Fair enough, but imo it's really really harsh on svenskeren...

This guy has already been fined for toxic behavior and warned multiple times by Riot. If he still thinks after that and a cultural sensitivity briefing that choosing such a name is not a problem then he's an idiot, period.

The issue here is that the name was picked AFTER they were all given some lessons and pointers on how to not do/say offensive things while in Taiwan and South Korea. Like it's one thing if he picked the name in an attempt to be funny, people saw it, pointed out how offensive it was and he said, "whoops, my bad. I'll name change it now, plus donate X amount to anti-racism organizations." Riot gave them all fair warning ahead of time that this is you representing your region to the world audience, at a time when eSports is beginning to make more and more mainstream media attention, and you have a player that is competing for the league's World Championship on a practice account name that rude?
Plus, he's got a history of doing/saying stupid shit. If SK as an organization can't keep him from doing this stuff that screws them over, how long do you think his career will be?

I would say that people are overly sensitive but I now think people are too unforgiving. Look at football where it is a couple of matches for physically and intentionally hurting someone.

Yeah, fucking League of Legends. I'm sick of watching these pros stream all day, talk to us, post on social media, do videos with sponsors and go on shows like SI. So if you spend a year of your life, and a year of 4 of your friends lives, working your arses off to get to this tournament. You get a practice account, which you have to name, you're stressed, tired, and you've been travelling a ton, and you have to name it. You pick a funny name, which would have been perfectly fine to say in public where you grew up, and riot never said anything about the phrase chingchong being overly racist, why would that specific phrase be racist? Oh wait, our entire team is (essentially) booted from the tournament.
Like, ofc racism is bad, but essentially ruining one of the groups of the supposedly most competitive tournament in the world, because an 18 year old kid said something he didn't even realize was racist?
I'd like to think in this day and age punishments are judged based on the intentions behind the action, not purely on the end result. Like I'd hate for someone who planned out and intentionally ran someone over to be punished identically to someone who accidentally hit a pedestrian on a dark, rainy night.
