Repair. Got rid of them for me.

why isn't swain played at competitive levels? he seems overpowered lol

On June 22 2014 06:49 travis wrote: why isn't swain played at competitive levels? he seems overpowered lol Gets shoved in early game. Terrible autoattack animation along with low attackspeed makes his early game beyond painful. He also is susceptible to getting blown up early on. Also he has no good item timings until like the 3rd or 4th item and even then it's pretty underwhelming.

cant rly blow him up it feels like he just chunks u if u try to get near him
but i can see getting shoved on
but even still these dont seem like strong enough reasons for him to not see play. his damage and sustain are unreal

His auto animation isnt nearly as bad as you say, getting used to it i can last hit with it pretty consistently and its not even a problem. His 1-5 can be a problem but if you ward and dont over extend its pretty decent.
I feel like people who think Swain is a weak character either dont know what they're talking about or havent played him. His main problem is you want to harass constantly with E but against the mages that are popular now you really need to max W to not get shoved in instantly and out roamed imo.
His damage and sustain are totally fine

On June 22 2014 06:49 travis wrote: why isn't swain played at competitive levels? he seems overpowered lol because i don't play at a competitive level. lol xD
he's just really item dependent compared to whats popular in his stead. he's best when you can force laning for a long time so he can get his core up before fights, but thats a bit harder to do. and RoA limits him quite a bit when thats the itemization you choose to go for.

His damage is high, yeah... but it's also all DoTs. Against most champions Q will break after only doing a 3rd of its damage. While it's nice because no cast animation and you can keep moving, you want to E first anyway if you can, reducing the gain from Torment.
- You get shoved in by pretty much anyone because you only have 500 auto range. Your spells don't help with last hitting because they're single target DoTs. - You're outranged by pretty much anyone, and silences wreck you because while someone like LB or Ziggs will smash your head in pretty fast, Swain needs to cast early to get mileage out of his spells. That's why Kassadin and LB were getting free trades if they took you off-guard and silenced you before you could turn ult on. - You're bascally nothing without your W because you need to hit it to force a trade (and you tend to hit like a truck, I'll give you that) and if you do that you can't push, and you rely on a long cooldown, kinda like Veigar (who at least can harass with Q meanwhile). - You're super farm and levels dependant. You get stronger at levels 6-8, but past that you start relying hurting for your level 11 and level 2 ult, the base damage makes a big difference for your healing.
You can't shove, you can't force fights, you can't really siege, and in 5v5s you're susceptible to getting blown up before you do anything if the enemy team has enough cc/burst. You're strong in skirmishes but while they're fine in soloQ you won't get them in competitive, and less easily in high levels of play where people know how to group.
You don't burst, so assassins do a better job at killing people than you. You don't burst, so the currently popular shield and healing champions (or the disengages/mobile to get out of Q/R range) make your DoT pattern a liability. You're short ranged, so late game it's hard to reach your targets, but you're also a combo mage, so you can't afford to dump spells on the frontline to peel/help damage it while waiting for an opportunity like Ziggs, Kayle, Ryze, Syndra, etc. can. You can't farm fast and you're extremely farm reliant, so your gold income will take a sharp dive once your team starts grouping (like Morgana).

Alarics wall of text is pretty legitimate.
Most teams would also 2v1 the swain. Dude would be so so poor at the start of midgame. He has no ability to lane against like cait + nami. His tower would die so fast and he'd get no creeps with his aa and lack of burst items.
But in soloqueue he is a real strong top imo.

Dig played him in S3?
The thing about Swain is that he is a snowball champion due to the way he is designed. If he gets ahead he is a beast. If he gets behind... well.

I predict right now that nid will be nerfed. I would predict cougar CD. Way too flexible.
|
Holy damn Nid's winrate dropped. I'll wait a few more days while waiting for the dust to settle though. I'm thinking the old AP kill everything with spears playstyle is bad now and since Nid needs to spend more time AA ing and in cougar form might benefit from a more bruisery playstyle. How is this even possible? http://www.lolking.net/champions/nidalee®ion=all&map=sr&queue=1x1#statistics Never seen 40% before. Considering how useless the lowest winrate champions are, I didn't think it was possible.
Skarner's win rate has risen. It makes sense. His ult can deal more damage.

has anyone had issues clicking thresh's lantern?... I don't think I'm THAT bad at this game

these minilags are driving me fucking crazy

Got a Nidalee to handily beat a Syndra last game (granted Syndra took a bunch of aa harass, she was around half health before she hit 2, guy was prob bad since it's Syndra with her Q), once Syndra got strong enough she just 100-0'd Nid (Nocturne camped her post-6 too) but her roams did work with the burst in the scrappy skirmishes that it created. She didn't seem to have too much impact in teamfights though (apart from her heals, I hogged them and Morgana's Black Shields all midgame long with how bad I played dammit).
|
I'm seeing a lot of Nidalee's going AD bruiser-type now, I didn't think they nerfed the AP ratio on her spear that much...
Also saw one go jungle bruiser, she took fucking forever to get relevant (ganks are worthless, no dmg., no snare/stun, etc.) but when she finally got gold she could dive to the back line and just cause havoc on the squishies in cougar form.

Is there any site similar to Probuilds that updates for pro player's smurfs? It's kind of dumb when some players like Doublelift or Wildturtle almost never play on their mains, so it has hardly any of their games on there.

in at least half of my ranked game since the nid rework where someone has picked nidalee, they get in game and go "wtf nid has cougar level 1 now?", probably contributing to the horrible winrate by not knowing how to play her now

I agree with this. I've never turned 3/0 into 10/0 as easily as I have with Swain. But he sucks so much arse if you fall behind. Can't kill, get bursted.
Also on the refund topic, I'm glad I got Xerath and all his skins refunded when I did
