I'd think that support J4 would basically just be an inferior version of Leona. You'll do more damage early, but mid/late game you'll do little damage, won't be as tanky as Leona when her shield's up, don't have as much CC and the CC that you do have is a lot less reliable.

I dunno, I usually destroy lane so hard that I have a decent sized budget but if I don't do well then I can envision j4 falling off badly in the mid game. Thats a moot point however because even with eclipse the same can be said for Leona. In lane though j4 seems more tanky then Leona and also has a lot more mobility to escape. On top of that he has great poke with his Q.

As for Xin, he has a delayed knock up and a slow and cannot escape so I don't think he'd work as well. It would basically be a weaker Leona without the advantages of j4.

imo xinzhao is a better sp than j4, and rengar's zoning in the bush is strong too.

It's not the same with Leona at all. She has so much CC and innate tankyness with her W that she's always useful. J4 has his W for a bit of tankyness, but unless you're maxing it first, it has a massive cooldown and doesn't give a large shield. His EQ combo is also not very reliable, and if you miss it in a team fight, you're pretty much fucked. Leona has a stun that lasts half a second longer than J4's knock up that's on cooldown 6 seconds shorter than J4's flag and isn't a skill shot.

Not really. If you do poorly in lane as Leona you will also be squishy as hell for a front line champ. For the most part if I go even in lane then I am able to buy enough defensive items to be valuable in team fights. The big difference is mostly that I think Leona's CC is more valuable because it lasts longer on top of the fact that you can't just flash/dash out of her ultimate but she trades that off for mobility and some team utility.

Yi, Xin, Noc, Shyvana as feral junglers. First 2-3 are ban status, depending where you are in solo q. Vi is still a good pick. There's nothing like a CC-immune initiation for team fights.

She can usually win 1v1s against the likes of Xin or Nocturne if she gets the jump on them (and her Q doesn't get spell-shielded) because of the initial burst, but if she gets jumped on she'd even lose to Sejuani (difference between fully charged Q-auto-E combo as an opener and partly-charged Q on Sej who activated her passive's buff is huge), so I find her better as a counter-ganker if you know the enemy's near.
I wouldn't gank while knowing Lee or Xin is nearby unless I know we can take the enemy laner out of the fight first (ideally burning his flash or forcing a back from low health so the gank held some value on my end).

I find Xin harder "mechanically" because the positioning is more important on him, without MS buffs or anything, to make sure you get the 3rd hit from Q even if your target has a dash, use your ult well, etc. compared to Nocturne's MS buff and point'n'click E.
Vi shouldn't be too hard to use, although her Q is plagued with weird stuff (mostly the hitbox, the freezing/fizzling bugs only happen very rarely) and early on she's very dependant on hitting it so you must not telegraph it (although it burns flashes pretty nicely).
Shyvana doesn't have cc pre-6 but she jungles so fast that you can pretty much be wherever you need at anytime if you look at the lanes and plan your route a bit, and she's got the dps to make up for it if you flank your target to stay on them.

Or you could do like Scip and go 20-0-6 on Skarner, making him look OP.

autoattack junglers aren't necessarily mechanically easier than non autoattacking ones. Animation cancelling can be difficult when there are lots of creeps around and when it's in the middle of a fight. If you got one less auto in than you could have it can pretty much be like missing a spell.

I feel like if you want to play J4 support, you're better off pairing him with someone like Panth rather than an ADC. Snowball that early damage to a win, or at least completely gimp their ADC.

Yeah that's why I said that Xin is harder than something like Nocturne, whose animation cancelling is made way easier by all the bonus MS he gets (and, as you mention getting screwed by pathing, the removal of unit collision). Xin gets bonus range (175 while most melees have 125) but he has trouble sticking to people once his dash is on cd.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

Xin is the jungler I see fail the most at lower level. I think it's because they all think they are men and go deep constantly for no reason.

He also farms more slowly than the others so even before the Flare nerf he couldn't abuse it as much, and I'd argue he isn't as strong a teamfighter as others (pre-Flare Noc admittedly didn't seduce me at all).

Yeah, I feel the hardest part as a jungler isn't raw mechanics - that part is actually fairly easy and even if you "missed an auto" it is rarely going to make a huge difference in a team.

The hardest part is making the decision to go in. Unlike a midlaner, say, you can't calculate how much your "burst" is. The amount of damage you do depends on how long you can survive and how your teammates react. To me, that is far more difficult to estimate.
