And even then, the extent of my idiocy usually only extends to when I play Darius. I'll do things like movement speed Darius or even AP Darius. So I guess I don't really go full retard that often.

Even though on average it takes 600+ games to get a penta, the reality is that if you play a "good" champion, you will get it really fast. I recall meeting someone who claimed to have never gotten a penta before. He had at least 2500 normal games and 200+ ranked games at the time. I have never gotten a penta on summoners rift and have about 1800 norms and 1000 ranked games. I've got more pentas than I can count or remember. I've got pentas on supports. I have a hexakill on caitlyn. Here's what I think is important: 1) Play champs that can repeatedly put out spikes of burst damage (Kassadin, Ezreal, MF, Caitlyn, Kat, Akali, Yi, etc.) 2) Play champs that can do HUGE chunks of damage AoE (Karthus, Ziggs, Brand, etc.) 3) Be a good player 4) Play against people much worse than you 5) Hide your power til the right time (farm well, don't make it obvious that they need to avoid you by going 6-0 in lane phase) 6) Time your engagement perfectly and execute They kinda just come but it's not even a big deal for me and a lot of times I know before I go into a fight that I'm going to be getting a penta. It's just something that comes with experience.

I was playing vayne vs cait (lanes were vayne/thresh vs morg/cait) lane was pretty even and shifted slightly to me when a bunch of ganks/roams at bot happened and I got a bunch of kills. cait did as well but kills on vayne are much more valuable + I didn't have to eat poke and lane against cait for too much. so we have similar kills, similar cs. My first item was botrk, hers was berserks and shiv. it was fuckin annoying because even if I stayed out of range of her aa, I'd be near minions or thresh and the aoe magic damage hurt a shitload. It did like 1/6 of my health. it also let her shove extremely hard and take down my tower. when laning phase ended, cait would shove bot extremely hard and then group mid. we always had to send someone (me or mid) to clear bot while they started sieging mid. it was extremely annoying. we won, but it was an interesting item choice that left me thinking about it more after the game. what are your thoughts? I used to do this Caitlyn thing where I would go double dorans -> zeal -> work towards PD/shiv until I thought fights were going to be breaking out then I'd switch to getting an IE instead but nowadays I feel like Thirster is just straight up more effective. Cait vs Vayne is pretty retarded in the first place so I actually wouldn't be surprised if she managed to dunk you with a Shiv build. I imagine she would have done that with a Thirster as well, though. To further expand I felt like the aspd was more valuable in lane because of the headshot procs coming up but you need raw damage for fights and taking down towers. It's about finding that balance imo, but the trend nowadays is to go straight damage (which I feel is strong if you're mechanically perfect--I'm not).

And I usually don't tryhard in normals with lower level pals because I'm not a good enough player to carry in general (lacking the mindset and the experience to snowball a game from snowballing a lane, other than when I'm fd enough to bruteforce it wiht an initiator/bruiser) so there's no use trying to make up for the level difference. I usually try to play various high-impact junglers (I jungle or support most of the time, overwhelmingly in favour of jungle tho since most of them seem to have absolutely 0 experience of it) so I can have presence and gank for them if they're having difficulty, while still being useful/tanky enough to initiatie/dive in the mid/late game, but that's more about "What can I play that I'll be able to do stuff, while being supportive enough that they can have fun even if matchmaking puts them against another plat-level player in lane?". Think I'm going to use teambuilder whenever I want to go for some oddball build/learn a new champ though, since that's pretty specific and the way you pick your champ makes it better than asking for it in champ select or trying to instalock in blinds.

But yeah, I was thinking about the average number of pentas per champion, which weights the popularity of the champion. I was too lazy to do it though... Are you doing/planning to do some association rule mining on the data? What formating do you use?

Are you doing/planning to do some association rule mining on the data? What formating do you use? Association rule will be interesting, but that is not what I am doing. There are a few things that can be done. One of them is champion counter / synergy analysis. I am using logistic regression for that.

I start the walk from this guy: http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/25850956 (Challenger) Nearly 20k iterations later, I am at this guy: http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/32883769 (Silver 4) I think I need to change my algorithm so: 1. Restart the walk from the initial position after, say, 10k iterations; and/or 2. Once the walk finds a player with no ranked games in the last 10 games, backtrack a few steps and find another player who does have ranked games.
