I was spectating a friend in Bronze 5, and there was a bot lane AD Mundo with a 100% crit rune page who rushed Shiv SotD and was like 20/0 and wrecking their entire team.
It was SO fun to watch.

So, you waste a lot of potential from SotD.

The active is undoubtedly cool on paper, but 3 autos might not hit (regardless of attack speed) and then you have one minute where 2150 gold is giving you NO stats (because the passive disappears when active is on CD). Even when the passive comes back up, it's still only 45% attack speed and ASpd alone doesn't do much.

I think I'll start experimenting with Tristana going BT -> SotD. Just got promoted to PlatV finally so shouldn't have to tryhard as much as in Gold I.

Only a really small subset of heroes can make good use of the 3 crits while building AD and penetration.

I know your teams will appreciate it :D 1) You're a bit too much of a tryhard. 2) You won't get better faster with this mindset. Experimenting and failing (as long as you're a fail-fast type of guy) helps improving !

Only a really small subset of heroes can make good use of the 3 crits while building AD and penetration. Hint: they lack range (Sivir, Graves). Lucian... it depends a lot on his passive. If it consumes 2 "charges" then it's actually weaker on him (I assume it's the case since his passive is for all intents and purposes a second attack with reduced damage). Otherwise it'd actually be pretty strong on him. Another thing to note is that the active can act as an aa-reset. Because it isn't too expensive, the item could probably see some use in the midgame, when having BT/SotD and a burst-oriented comp could make even your AD carry an assassin, kinda, to help you burst people hard and thus underline the "make it a 5v4/5v3 in under 3 seconds" aspect and snowball teamfights. The problem, which was discussed a lot at the start of s4 with the "anti-snowball/comeback mechanics" and is still present even though we don't talk about it anymore, is that it's basically not worth it to try and specifically snowball your midgame. Teams good enough to get a lead will snowball it to reach their lategame faster, and banking on the midgame (Haunting Guise, SotD, etc.) isn't worth it because even during that timing window your power doesn't spike high enough to make up for how fast/hard you fall off. It's also not interesting because these items are less slot-effective than big ticket items, which is normal, but they're also less cost-effective, or not more enough to justify the momentum/scaling cost. You'd have to reduce the price of these items or buff them, but Riot won't ever do that because having the tools to snowball isn't "fun", and a basic "they're strong now but if we stall and hold out we'll outscale their itemisation" is too hard for the dumb average GD/reddit dweller. Also it's not "fun" gameplay/counterplay. TL;DR: you'd need Riot to acknowledge the benefits of having various power curves and real drop-offs in the game, good luck with that.
