With Banshee's no longer giving mana and Spirit Visage totally unappealing, I feel like Tear -> Rod -> Frozen (with Negatron somewhere for eventual GA) is the way to go now. I think the Tear buff is pretty meaningful: Ryze is literally one of the worst champions in the game at stacking Tear, since a) he can't stack Tear without an enemy unit (unless you count his ult); and b) his typical spell rotation combos are too fast to fully proc the post-nerf Tear.
which is why the removal of the "tear stacking by animation-cancel" was a pretty big nerf back then. And I think they never mentioned it in the patch notes, did they? Which leads to another question: What were the biggest hidden nerfs in LoL?

So he's not Jayce or Nidalee, that doesn't make him one of the worst champions at stacking Tear. Last hitting with Overload does most of the charging for you.
Besides, finishing the Tear stacks is actually less important for Ryze than most. Seraph's is a luxury for Ryze, the difference between +600 mana and +750 mana is not that big.

The current support metagame is much more geared toward offensive playmaking than S3. A lot of players see this as a larger contribution. If I was 100% bent on winning from support, I'd MUCH rather be in S3, though. I have much more faith in my team's ability to capitalize on vision/fog I set up than on even the cleanest initiation that the other team can see coming.

If you're winning lane with Ryze, stacking tears isn't difficult, but if you can be zoned out from waves when it's directly in the middle of your lane (which is a likely scenario), then stacking tears can be such a fucking pain.

Old people are so cute when they're trying to be understanding.
Travis is a really great ambassador and Doublelift is getting much better. Might be the best mainstream media interview I've seen.

Need confirmation on this... ARAMs can feature the same champions on both sides, right?

Nope. Used to be a bug that could, but they changed it.

Oh right, because there are 10 f2p champions each week.... thanks.

Is anyone interested in some ranked 5's on EUW? Most of my regulars are around low-silver level (with some as high as plat) and we're trying to organise into some relaxed competitive tryharding but keep finding ourselves with 3-4 stacks. Mainly looking for ADC's but anyones welcome.
The focus is to improve and give constructive feedback after games while tryharding like mofo's during. Anybody being shitty towards others will be removed because fuq that, our groups had issues with egos in the past so we're clamping down. There wont be any set-times or teams, just when the group as a whole has 5 people willing.
We've known each other a good few years so we wont be disappearing anytime soon either, actually travelling to meet a few of em soon.
So if anyones interested hit me up (EUW: Capped92) and i can provide you with the info for you to join us on TS / everything else. We do it all too, ARAM's, normal stacks, duo's, other games, drinking games! Literally anyone is welcome to come chill with us. I wont post links out of respect

Just did teambuilder. Pretty impressed, queued up for Diana Jungle (cuz recent talk), only had to wait 2 minutes for a full group. Team felt really coherent, no BM at all. Everyone was pleasant, people listened to pings and shit, followed up on dragon calls and stuff, was pretty good. Ended up forcing enemy team to surrender at 20min mark. GJ rito

^The complete opposite of my experience. Tried to queue up (read host game) with a friend as jungle/top. Took over 10 min of wait to find a support. Got bored and queued up for blind pick. Unlike in blindpick or draftmode you don't get to try to make a coherent teamcomp with your last couple of picks because everyone just plays the champion they want. Also, my normal MMR is high enough that I very seldom run into ragers or people who get pissed when someone tries something unorthodox. All in all, I hated teambuilder. 80+% of the time you'll get to play what you want if you ask nicely during blindpick anyway.

Team builder is really nice. The only problem I have with it is that it sometimes takes me more than 10 minutes to find a group, then when I do find one, it's a group of trolls that have 5 mid champs picked or something. Or when I do find a good group, it takes 20 minutes to find a support.
Personally, they really should get rid of the "marksman, assassin, mage, tank, etc" thing and just put the lane. Then once we've picked those lanes, we would go into normal champ selection and we'd be able to pick our stuff there. It takes me 20 minutes to find a game sometimes because no one has the "jungler/tank" description filled out.

Yeah the roles seem either unnecessarily complicated or not specific enough, depending on what direction you want to go with it.
It's this weird half and half right now where it's just not adding to the content of their system.

Or they could allow you to queue for several roles, for example "bot lane support/bot lane tank" for Leona, or "jungle fighter / jungle tank" if you take something like Lee/J4/Xin, that'd considerable help things out. In the same vein, captains should be allowed to put up to 2/3 combos for a position (with possible caveats regarding captains able to enter a bunch of contradictory stuff and trying to coerce people once they've joined). It would make the system much more flexible than currently.
And yes, for "meta" games it doesn't beat blindpick with good-willing people, however I assume the main strength of the team builder is that if you want a double jungle setup, or duo mid and solos on the off lanes, it's easier to rely on team builder than to queue into normals and hope your team will accept.

I tried team builder once. I picked Viktor mid. When the team came up, all 5 of us were mid, so I left and tried again. It seemed to think I was still in the team chat room since I kept getting chat noises but couldn't see anything, and after a few minutes I was still in queue so I gave up.
