Of course it's awkward if you build them in a funny order. What's wrong with straight Cowl -> Veil -> Kindlegem -> Visage, or Cowl -> Visage -> Merc's -> Veil?

Yeah I don't think it's Banshee's being too strong so much as it is Banshee's is a very good counter to the type of champions that are popular right now, coupled with SV no longer being automatically better on tanky champs.

There are still champions that prefer SV, but those champions aren't as popular atm.

I think it's important to get some CDR on your first back, and straight-up rushing a Veil really negatively affects your Q farm. On the other hand, rushing a Visage doesn't really do anything any more, because you don't get any CDR benefit and the Banshee's Veil is so much better against burst AP casters (like the roaming Annie that was 6/0/0 by 7 minutes).

If anything, I think a small buff to the regen on SV would be fine. I don't think Banshee's is a problem, but that's just me.

The thing about MR itemization is that incoming magic damage is one of the things that's been most variable over this game's history, and MR itemization has to be chosen based on its appropriateness for how the game plays at the time.

This would be fine if Riot would accept that certain metagames favor certain modes of protection, but invariably Riot's response to a particular MR item being frequently bought is that the item is OP and needs to be nerfed--not that it just happens to suit the way the game is being played.

yea if they touched banshee veil I wouldnt be surprised to start seeing triple mage comps if teams are willing to explore that. support/mid going ap is already pretty strong, then add in another top AP like rumble or vlad or ryze and it would just get to be too much.

In this particular case I think Banshee's and SV are too similar, though. They have their passives, 20 hp5 for SV, and 50 HP for Banshee's for differenciate them, and that's all. 2750 gold, 55 MR, 400+ HP. In this case nerfing the specifics of one (SV's CDR here) will make them so close that it's very easy to have one better than the other in almost all cases.

I'd rather have them remove/add HP/MR from one or both, and buff the unique stuff (unique as in specific to the item, not "unique passive") so you have clear cut cases where one or the other shines more.

They're only too similar because Riot made them too similar when they remade them.

Though personally I think the change to Veil that made taking damage while the shield was down reset the shield CD to be an awful change.

Them being too similar is why I think a regen buff to SV would be nice. The difference should be that Banshees is good against burst damage and SV is good against sustained damage.

The 45 regen after taking a hit on Banshees is atm pretty similar to the 20 HP/5 and healing bonus on SV, which is strange to me. People bought SV before because 20% CDR is 20% CDR, but the appeal of the item IMO shouldn't be CDR, it should be that sustained regen.

You can't really remove the regen from Banshees just on the grounds that it's awkward when Cowl has the regen and you upgrade it and it suddenly goes away, although if Banshees did get a nerf, the regen is where I'd like to see it hit.

just bring back force of nature, maybe a little cheaper but with less mr and regen and a bit of hp

yes but without the shitty heal thing and it fixes the CDR-is-good-on-everyone problem
obviously with more mr than SV and less hp too

bveil shouldn't give regen at all and im not sure SV should either
