Very minimal counterplay to her lane mecanics and pretty good masteries for being a monster early (flad AD and AP). You just can't pick her in any situations. Wat? She's just fine - apart from Singed I think she's the champion I'm picking the most right now, you just can't really fp her. Edit: She's not a top-tier pick-in-all-situations champion, but if you can play her and you like her you can play her at all levels of play.. Edit2: As far as matchups go there are quite a few GOOD ones actually. For top lane I'd say Jax, Singed, Shen, Olaf and Nasus (this one is a bit different - if you get one kill you can snowball hard, but if you're just winning in farm you probably "lost" the lane) should all be winning matchups. For mid lane she has a lot of even matchups, but she beats stuff like Ziggs, Lux, Nidalee. Kassadin and Fizz are also winning matchups but can be easily swayed by ganks.
Akali is my go to pick when Nida is on the enemy team, as she is one of the very few champs that can catch a Nidalee reliably. Dshield start and its very hard to push you out of lane early. Rush Cutlass, make sure your jungle is around when you wanna do your all in with 3 ult stacks, since their jungle will be there if he is any smart. If you get ahead you can basicly kill her whenever she is in ult range.
Also the last set of "nerfs" hit her base values but strengthen her scaling. So she really is a monster lategame. If Fizz is considered a hyper carry I think Akali has some arguments for her own.

she also has the issue of not having a way to actually block damage unlike fizz and poppy

She has a rough pre 6 laning phase yes, but some of the changes like getting a ward and an extra pot + your dshield def helped her. Like I said vs Nida for example its hard to push you out of lane or I´m playing only fotm Nida players. You have to hit some serious through creep spears to hurt her at all. If you lane her against say Lux, Ahri or Ziggs ye they can put a lot of pressure on you or you have to be a god avoiding skillshots.

What? Akali's powercurve is at the top right when she gets gunblade+sorc's. Not to say her 6 item build isn't strong but she definitely doesn't NEED 6 items to be useful - neither does Poppy tbh, lol (Poppy just has NO waveclear and too high mana costs).

Spellvamp quints+Doran's shield and hitting a lot of q's on creeps should be enough as long as you don't take every single skillshot to the face.

Wait so, with the stealth ward nerfs and oracle stuffs... What actually is likely to be able to see you during teamfights? Just red trinket?

Red trinket and pinks (only one per person now though).

yeah when you are in a bracket where nobody buys pinks I guess

Even if they're not actually good at Lee, it's awfully hard to play around that reveal.

Well you obv rush Hourglass after Gunblade and later GA. But before that ye kill adc, do as much damage as possible and die.

Oh and laning vs Ziggs sure felt almost impossible as Akali. Every time got chunked when I went to lasthit and the moment he got blue it was over.
|
I havent tried spellvamp quints, but I dont think it will help that much vs Ziggs since your initial q damage is really low. You level shroud last obv so the mres/armor only helps when you are strong anyway. The problem vs strong poke is that you cant even cs under tower.

don't know if this is actually the case, but top comment is that exam season (with the assumption that league has more student players than the other top games) is mostly responsible for this. check the rankings again in 3-4 weeks to see if the patch is having a lasting effect on popularity
league has been #1 in korea for nearly 1.5 years now, wow

I've really got a problem with the scope of Riot's changes. When they nerfed WW they took 20% damage off his Q. Nautilus lost 23% damage on his W, ow they take ~25% off two defining cc abilities without any other compensations than "yay mana buffs" (their ults are dropped to flat 100 mana too).
(Then again when Nautilus has a few specific spots where he can pass through walls they patch it out, whereas when Riven has few specific spots nd circumstances where she can pass through walls they reinforce it and make it pretty much universal. I wonder who needed help the most.) Well... I mean I guess next time they should introduce in game quicktime events so we can counterplay any spell.

could you imagine this game if you could perfect block every attack/skill, with smaller windows for higher damage/longer cc

Super Mario RPG: LoL edition!

lol played Taric top, Iceborn Gauntlet, Frozen Heart and Randuins. 460 armor, max CDR. Oneshot enemy ADC, only time I died after laning was when I ran OOM.
|
If you're going to nerf Rammus taunt and Fiddle fear, it's because there's little you can do once you've gotten cced in many situations if you don't have cleanse or qss or tenacity won't save you in time. But that's not going to change just because the cc time got reduced.
Whatever, barely affects my gameplay.
