And he didn't even invent anything, he just came out of nowhere and got a lot of attention for some reason. Also Wingsofdeath is a really good rengar but not as good as Ryan Choi. Way better than only trashgar tho

Probably not, sunfire into visage tank rango started during the 3.13 patch in Asian tournaments so it is likely unrelated to s4 changes

It's also harder to deal with his ult when trying to catch him since pinks are harder to use that way and "oracle" is available later. It's just that tanky Rengar isn't necessarily as strong in lane as Renekton (especially 1v2) and he doesn't have the facetanking/initiation potential of Shyvana, nor the inherent AoE damage she and Renek bring even when they just zone people. As an aside, the people I stack with are usually rather bad (not necessary when it comes to clicks and stuff, I'm bad at that too; but their knowledge, ability to follow calls, map movement, vision management, etc. are lacking, and so is their ability to determine their own role in a teamfight) and I've been worsening myself as a result of playing less and not tryharding (plus I suck at carrying, my playstyle is more supportive so unless one of them step up I fall short myself). My winrate has prob dropped down to 33% or something along these lines (usually around 53% in normals), and in the few victories we'd had Malpite was prominently featured, w/o being a single person's doing. Makes me wonder about the reason. Malph's always been strong at the silver level where most of them probably are, and his ult is one of the best tools to draw attention, both to tell them "stop screwing around when we say we go in" and to make the enemy focus you. On the other hand hard initiation is good both against splitpush comps that seem to become pretty popular lately, and to push inner turrets and convert a lead into a win in the midgame, before the enemy team gets back to even thanks to all that free gold. Think if they keep making me jungle I'll either shoot for strong scaling champions (Shyvana, Mundo, etc.) who benefit from getting rich whatever happens, or junglers on whom I can abuse the midgame hard if I build damage (so Nocturne or Udyr with BotRK, Jarvan with Hydra, etc. had a J4 game vs 4 AD champs, I could tank 1v4 for ~7-8s but the rest of the team never played around it and I built 0 damage so past midgame I wasn't enough). I def. don't think I could use something like Maokai or Rammus because I wouldn't be able to get enough kills early on, not to smash in the midgame, and they don't farm nor scale well enough to make it worth it. Rammus' really good at diving or hard-initiating when he has Flash, though... I'm not sure which damage item I'd rush on Vi though. Golem-tabi into Triforce, peppered with an hexdrinker if they have an heavy magical threat?

League of Cockroaches. that's probably just you making a joke but regardless, I think I can provide an explanation as to why Rengar got popular all of a sudden: Rengar, with full offense and damage items, does a lot of damage but is very squishy, and thus has a very risky laning phase. That style would be a very risky gamble to take in pro play. When you build him tanky and just try to farm the lane out, you get a strong scaling pick-bot (he creates picks every minute and a half with his ultimate) that can teamfight and splitpush and assassinate who can always go even in lane or win the lane. This style of play isn't (or wasn't, I suppose) popular because its not very intuitive. Also I think when full-tank Rengar (aka the CaoMei IPL5 5000 hp Rengar style) was first popular SV and Sunfire weren't as strong. However none of this is fact, just theory. + Show Spoiler + i'm really bored while waiting for my damn ups package to come

Randuin's Omen and just tanky stuff? Or do you go with like Brutalizer and into some more damage? Trinity Force or Last Whisper?

However none of this is fact, just theory. + Show Spoiler + i'm really bored while waiting for my damn ups package to come Koreans are just using him as a Shyvana and Renekton softcounter (to mild success). It works differently for both. His earlygame 1-4 is a bit stronger 1v1, and is about the same to slightly weaker 2v1. Then he kinda gets outscaled 5-9, and finally catches up about halfway through your second item. Particularly against Shyvana he can just outsustain her for splitpushing purposes, and if she leaves its a dead tower. The reason he is popular, is because no other champ can really hold up against those two right now. Jax has a place (I think) as do Kennen/Rumble/Shen/Vlad/Riven, but its probably safer to pick Rengar because he has that infinite sustain without Vlad's crappy earlygame.
