When he was first changed (including significant buffs to W) the jungle wasn't as sturdy as it is now and he was a power-clearer like Shyvana, in the s2 "AoE" jungle. He had decent level 2 ganks (hit a cleaver -> get at least a flash off), did more damage with W and big monsters had less HP so he was overall faster and healthier, since there was no machete shit you could start cloth+5 which further reduced the damage taken, and build tabi after your first back at a point where everyone was on boots1 at best. So you were stronger at the start of the game, had overall more health at every point during your clears, and combo'd extremely early boots2 + the tenacity from his W (you straight-up maxed W at that point) + the slow from spammable cleavers to easily stick to people or outrun them. Then you hit 6 with a reduced cooldown on his ult (60 instead of 70 iirc) making you even harder to chase/escape from. | ||
