With Shyvanna for example, you basically have to farm like a madman meteos style. Gank only when you are positive you can get the kill because Shyvanna's main strength is that no one farms as quickly as she does when she has wriggles. If you are running all around trying to gank and put pressure on lanes you are forgoing that advantage when she's not even that good at ganking. But then how do you snowball your lanes like everyone else? You win dragon fights or you solo dragon because you will out level your opponent jungler and you have to abuse that by taking dragons and towers. Also shyvanna DESTROYS towers, even faster than nocturne. | ||

I like to extrapolate to the extreme but plain lying is nowhere near as fun. I actually think shyv is great at counterganking because of her sheer strength. You just have to get your laners to bait the gank or allin from the opposing laner. Shyv with ghost is a great at lane ganks too. | ||

You need the sustain and it's so good w/ Q and it gives you the ability to solo dragon obscenely early. Also as you said in order to countergank / counterjungle / solo dragon safely that ward is crucial. Wriggles was basically made for shyvanna. | ||

There are lots and lots of "strong" alternatives to the current meta, but in the end the meta remains. It's not that the alternatives are weak, the meta is simply stronger. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who relishes oddball jungling picks. Most junglers who've played as long as I have cut their teeth on champions like Warwick, Udyr, or Rammus. I learned to jungle on Akali. If the new meta were a next-gen console, I'd be camped outside the meta store waiting for the PS5. | ||
