I mean, skins are super fun, some of them are gorgeous, and more power to the people who want to buy lots of them and use them in solo queue. But when you're talking about competitive spectated games all skins do is make it more difficult for new viewers to understand what's going on. I remember a friend asked me to introduce her to watching the game and explain how it worked so she could watch it even though she didn't play, and the only thing she never got in the series we watched together was that two different Blitzcrank skins weren't different champions. How would they advertise skins to us then? Also a girl asked to watch games with you even though she didn't play? Did you follow up? Like Riot needs advertisement to sell skins... Dunno, still didn't spend a single $ for a skin, and I have yet to find a reason after ~3k games. But it seems some guys enjoy throwing money at their screen. I like supporting a game and company that I really like, fuck me right?
I figure the money I spend on LoL is just money I would have spent on other games had I not been playing LoL.

they are pretty?
And yeah, if "some" guys wouldnt throw money at the screen, the game would be dead. But it isnt, because most people like buying stuff. Im not saying you need to, its F2P after all. But there is no reason to feel superior because you havent payed anything
My neighbours buy iphones for 500 euro, i buy a skin for 5.

wut? poppy rework?
Please stop, Riot, you ruin your whole game with these reworks of flavour full champions that then get the weak skills normalized and the strong ones nerfed and then are just some dull version of their former selves.
I rather have poppy as is with OP ult and awesome Q, than have R removed, Q nerfed and given some charge and stun on click or something. Thats boring.

If we're discussing worthless purchases we could talk about the hojilions of dollars 'Murica spends on horrifically bad beer. Small-ish purchases that support a hobby are pretty common, think of how much sports equip costs. If I played sports anywhere near the amount of time I spend on vidya games I'd probably need to take out a loan to pay just the shoes. Discretionary spending is a pretty silly place for people to get all judgmental, "My hobby's dad could beat up your hobby's dad."
Back on track: Have we chatted at all about the morgana changes? Does this alter the fact that she's still got a ton of power locked in an ult that basically requires the other team to be afk to really work? (Waddle in for a non-instant spell HOORAY!)

My gf is really into film photography, especially classic processes which I won't pretend to know much about, and she spends quite a bit, and we were out looking at lenses this weekend that were insanely priced. Hobbies are/can be expensive.
Idk if anyone has played golf, but 18 holes of golf at a decent course is not what I would call cheap. There is a reason I quit playing that game when my grandfather stopped paying for my equipment/fees.
I guess these are extreme examples...
Now hiking, that's a hobby I can do, pay for the gas to get there(not always cheap depending), and then maybe a day permit depending, I got a northwest forest pass so
Reading is far more expensive for me than league of legends and I buy skins here and there, even champs/boosts on my smurf once in awhile(I don't recommend doing that though, I'm lazy).

Be happy you're on the NA server then.
EDIT : I don't get your comparisons though. Ofc it's not a problem to use your money to do things you like, but I fail to see how you can like to use your money to use a different texture for a video game, that's it. I play Magic, believe me, I know something about expensive hobbies :D

Its going to be a game changer for her in lane IF she can pull a health advantage. She can't rush a chalice or revolver quickly enough with how critical zonyas is to her.

just had an improptu kill lane in normal queue. elise pantheon. It would never work if the other team had any idea what to do, but the guaranteed kill at level 2 is hilarious. spear, stun, stun, execute damage from spider is a kill on almost anybody level 2.

Of course I do. Like HUNDREDS. And they're all hot and wear jeans and watch Iron man and go outside!
Serious talk: I didn't know people would be interested in watching league if they didn't play it. I feel like enjoying watching a game, after the novelty wears off (one game) requires that you understand a bit of it. And that understanding has to come from playing the game.

I have a bunch of friends who don't watch but think they play.
What they do is not playing league.

Does it count if I just play aram these days? I started playing league and discovered the pro scene, after somewhile I just lost interests in solo que. SC2 was the same situation for me.

I have a bunch of friends that are in like negative wood league, like sub 800 elo kind of scrubs, that watch Pro-League. That counts as "don't play" right? completely different game at <800 elo.

Stomp a game so fucking hard, ending 9-2-7 as the jungler, with laners similarly fed @20, at which point enemy team insta surrenders. Back to my profile, 30 sec left till first win of the day. Hnnng

I don't like skins very much. Most are annoying or confuse me in-game, so I stay away from them. I would pay for an anti-skin option that lets me turn off my teammates or opponents skins.

Where do people see upcoming patch notes?
I've been told in rank games theyre nerfing ahri and such, but can't find notes anywhere.
|
I don't know that many of my friends play PC games at all let alone watch them(especially ones they don't play, which would probably just seem incredibly odd to them). I will concede that this is in large part due to my choice of friends and is really just a personal anecdote/reply to Ketarah, not a statement of how common it is or isn't.

Caveat: PBE stuff is subject to change without warning etc etc.
That said, here's the latest PBE iteration of Ahri.
Ahri Essence Theft Now heals Ahri for (2 + Champion Level) +9% AP each time her passive-enhanced spells hit an enemy (from 35% Spell Vamp) Fox-Fire Diminishing returns effect on same-target hits increased to 70% (from 50%) [Best case is now: 100% + 30% + 30%] This puts the same-target base damages at 64 / 104 / 144 / 184 / 224 (from 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280), and drops the AP ratio for that case to 64% (from 80%) Fixed a bug which caused Fox-Fire to sometimes deal reduced damage to a target which should receive the standard damage amount Now counts as an AoE damage source for the purposes of Spell Vamp and Rylai’s Crystal Scepter Charm Mana cost changed to 90 at all ranks (from 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110) Now increases the magic damage Ahri deals to the target by 20% for 4 seconds Spirit Rush Base damage reduced to 70 / 105 / 140 (from 85 / 125 / 165) AP ratio reduced to 25% (from 35%) These two changes put the new max damage per target values at 210 / 315 / 420 [+75% AP] (from 255 / 375 / 495 [+105% AP]) Spirit Rush time limit decreased to 7 seconds (from 10)

Sites like Surrender at 20 and Reign of Gaming have PBE notes or Riot forum red posts that people take as gospel for what will be making it into the game in upcoming patches.
