Honestly, if you don't consider LoL skill based, you don't watch enough OGN. It really shows how high the skill ceiling can get.
I havent watched much of any LoL. I see some skill based characters, like Zed (who looks to have a high skill cap) but a lot seem more about decisions and teamwork.
Decision making is a big part, but team decision making is a very small part of individual skill at levels below pro. Decision making such as when to trade, when to go for last hits, when to harass, etc.
He didnt seem to need to do that. He used me as tower bait and dove early game to get ahead is probably why it snowballed a bit. Maybe I just need to try and get my hands on a decent adc char and try it out, instead of playing teemo/lux/elise
You need to get the idea of a certain champion, teammate, etc. being the main contributor to being able to play well and dominate a game. It's incredibly terrible for you and you'll end up hating the game and start raging at things out of your control.
I think regardless of how NA is supposedly better at rotations/objective taking than Europe, I doubt Vulcun will be able to fell Fnatic. I still don't think NA's "best midlaner" in mancloud holds a candle to most international mids. Dunno, I might be placing too much worth in NA regionals performance, and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

At all stars it didn't seem like the NA players were getting outclassed individually. Fnatic probably have the strongest 5 man lineup out of EU teams though in terms of individual skill.

This season he is plat IV in solo/duo and gold II in ranked 5's (though ingame he claimed to be diamond)
If you're up against level 15s it's not that hard to snowball on people as long as you're aggressive. 1v2 means you just have more people to feed off of and vayne with farm is one of the best adcs at it. Probably feels like playing in a custom bot game 1v5 to them.
Apparently the smurf I linked was piglet. 18-1-18 carrying fucking hard against link, hashinshin, and phantomlord

Lux, and Elise are fantastic for low elo snowballing. When I was leveling my smurf I played only Lux every game and managed to go legendary pretty easily. 24 second ults are extremely devastating when you're 8 - 0. It's very difficult to see skill in league. I really have problems seeing it unless it's obviously apparant like when the koreans are playing. So that might be why it seems like she did nothing special to you?
Who is Barcode Killer? He fed really hard when I had the glorious chance to play with a PRO KOREAN PRO. It might be a shared account though since they place all roles.
On September 15 2013 14:54 FinestHour wrote: how does that work, is it a completely new account that he went 10-0 in placements?
No. He only has 23 games. Even undefeated you cant get to diamond (placement matches put you in Gold I at best). Obviously Riot jut gave them like Diamond level accounts with diamond ELO.

I usually jungle elise and when I finally get 24 second ults for lux yea I am devastating and dont die (low cd shield yaay) but its usually like 30 minutes in. Though I rarely get to play mid with lux.

I mean be 8 - 0 before that point so you get there by 20~ minutes.
Those must have been pretty weightful contracts then if they just carried over those sponsorships? I don't think I've ever seen such a sponsor transfer thingy.
28 minutes or so into this vod, PL plays against 1k2o1ko12ko12ko1 on ez.
Of course it's just phantomlords PoV the whole game, but you get to see him do some pretty sweet moves in teamfights. He 1v2'd corki fiddle down bot pretty early in the game, though PL failed at observing :D
Pretty impressive how fed he got in a diamond 1 game. It wasn't a total stomp either, kill scores were pretty even for a long time.
There are a few games of GoldPoro1 on qtpies vods as well, haven't bothered to check them out yet.

Those champions can snowball just as well.
Indeed, I'd argue that LoL is incredibly skill-based. Part of it's mechanical (there's massive mechanical differences between a Diamond and a Silver ADC, for instance), but there's also an entirely large depth of knowledge and decisionmaking. It's just that, as a game, differences in skill are relatively subtle due to the matchmaking attempting to balance for skill, so improvement is seen as a progression, and there aren't (generally) glaring cases of skill mismatch (which you had).
He could probably have done the same with almost every champion he could choose. When I use to Q with my lower elo friends, I'd be godlike on everything, even Heimerdinger. Literal 1v5s were disgustingly easy.
Just to give you an idea of how much the skill depth can be.

I agree. People like Madlife and Faker show the way as in how good you can get solely individually, and even they can still improve a lot. Beyond that there's obviously the whole team strategy and coordination aspect, which is the main factor in my opinion anyway.
