IF we created a game where the community only way to do better was to do a trials mode when you get the best score+time with random players involved. do you think that coordinating as a team would still be worse than that? You should check out complexity's CoD team. They were the only group of people who actually sat down and practiced as a team, instead of just solo queuing and matchmaking. none of them were particularly good matchmaking players, but they practiced as a team and dominated dreamhack. | ||

I've received a ridiculous amount of support after the fact, so I thank you guys for that. I'm actually surprised that no one here is from TLHoN, where I learned the most about Dota in the constant inhouses with top level players... I admit, I'm likely spoiled when it comes to practice in SC2 where having those handful of contacts allows you to practice solely in customs; the last months I had of fulltime SC2 were about 80/20 custom/ladder... but can you blame me for trying? Is learning faster really a 'shortcut' to be ashamed of? I hold firmly that efficiency is key. | ||

Not everyone is looking to get into progaming. Ofc nobody ended up as a progamer just playing normals/ranked 5s, but being serious about improving does not necessarily mean that's your goal. And for something in between I don't think that you won't see improvement playing things other than solo queue if you enjoy them more. | ||
