It's possible, and I don't see what you can learn in Solo Q that you can't learn in Arranged 5s. The real problem is just getting 5 people together, which involves a lot of scheduling issues, especially if you have people that aren't sure how seriously they want to play the game... and they kind of look at their Silver/Gold solo ranking and think that they're not good enough to play 5s, instead of treating 5s as just another ranking.

I know people like that too. Its just they never play on the Arranged 5s team while there are 5 high ELO players that always do.

I think that also has to do with how baron the arranged 5 scene is in most regions. Solo queue is the way to go if you want to get picked up by a team.

I'm assuming the only reason you'd want to reach Diamond1/Challenger in 5s is to compete in the amateur circuit of course. In which case, yeah, the most reliable way to do it would be to grind up solo queue unless you just happen to have four similarly talented friends with the same ambitions.

its very possible that you have people getting carried in your team but they've been doing the same things for so long you don't see them as bad things, that's going to be frustrating if you're playing well. obviously if you are a pro team you want to play ranked 5's all the time because everyone has already played thousands of solo q games and dont need practice, but if you wnat to get good i don't see why you shouldnt play them both equally to get a good perspective

My ranked 5s team started out as a bunch of gold/silver players, but we hit plat in 5's pretty fast. We improved individually too, but we hit diamond before any of us were past plat 2 in yoloQ. Now we're those assholes who just play allmid because we can't drop out of diamond, huehuehue

If you don't carry games as jungler but your laners are generally very solid and dont need much ganks it could be you're just getting carried and lose solo queue because you aren't that graet a jungler early game for example. its very possible that you have people getting carried in your team but they've been doing the same things for so long you don't see them as bad things, that's going to be frustrating if you're playing well. obviously if you are a pro team you want to play ranked 5's all the time because everyone has already played thousands of solo q games and dont need practice, but if you wnat to get good i don't see why you shouldnt play them both equally to get a good perspective Depending on your team you can experiment with different things, you don't necessarily have to aim to win, nor do you have to view winning as the ultimate goal. I think we've all played games where we've felt that we didn't deserve the win, and you can still learn a lot even if you've won. Either way, you say to play them both equally, and I think that's really the big problem. There aren't many people out there who are arranged 5 junkies who eschew solo queue, but more people should be looking for and playing 5s even though they're not diamond/challenger. Just to learn, man...

That aegis/locket change. Sure they were bought way too often on several champs (supp/jungle near 100%, certain tops too) but what else are you going to fuckin' build? And the jungle changes again too, seems really derpy

Seems like a reasonable change that won't invalidate the strategy but will make it weaker. That said not sure it's going to be enough. Denying farm from a hero in a 2v1 and a slightly slower but still fast tower kill seems like a good enough reason to continue to lane swap... especially if you're against a hero that is bad in 1v2 situations. Edit: I mean you still have the same problem with diversity of viable champions. How does this fix that? I am not sure where the line is that says going into a 2v1 is no longer worth it.

I don't understand the changes for the small camps, it's just kind of pointless since no one starts Wraiths/Wolves anymore. Maybe it's to further disincentive taking doubles? Seems dumb. I like the new GA. It makes it an even better one-shop defense item for squishy characters, rather than being good armor, good active, and only decent MR. Will be better to buy Negatron -> GA in some lanes, NMM -> GA could leave you somewhat vulnerable. Spellbreaker is pretty niche, we talked about it a bit. Spectre's Cowl is kinda strange. I feel like they could have just adjusted BVeil and SV rather than just making a new item, but whatever.

Summary: All camps outside of buff camps will now spawn later in the game. Some experience has been moved back from the Ancient Golem and Lizard Elder to their Young Lizard spawns so now junglers will need to clear the full camp in order to hit level 2, as opposed to simply killing the buff monster. This is going to be hilarious. So many junglers won't hit level 2 now hahahaha.

No it just means you have to clear all of a buff camp for lvl 2 instead of doing the big buff and then going to take a dump on the enemy jungler (I'm looking at you, Nunu)
