why do supports have to get items

i dont understand why everyone unanimously thinks support has to get items to make the game "fun"

I buy wards on support because our choice of items sucks.

Except Shurelya's, that's my favorite item.

Every time you buy a ward, you should get to play a small whack-the-teemo minigame where you have to click on various parts of the minimap.

That should make support more fun.

Every time you put a ward down, you should have a chance to "dig/discover" random treasure chest on the map. In the treasure chest, you can receive random items, from ward to zhonya or deathcap.

I'm more interested in the possibility of reduced early vision opening up options for the support to do something other than sit in lane with his ADC.

supports already are starting to move around a bit more, which is a good thing. i think even with the amount of vision, often teams skimp a bit and supports are starting to punish that a bit more.

drastically changing something like how wards and vision works is not something i want to see right now tbh.

besides, the concern is usually centered more around the adc being disadvantaged when left alone as opposed to the support not being able to do stuff when roaming

Except if the expectation is support movement, there's not really a need to put the ADC into a disadvantaged lane. It's not like there aren't ADCs that are quite good at 1v1 matchups against both mid and top laners.

Nah, having an active ward cap will just force supports to constantly re-ward various areas in an attempt to constantly track useful areas as opposed to dead ones, making them spend way more gold on wards than ever before.

Alternatively make warding so expensive that supports can't afford to do it.

Don't think so. The climate is not good for ADC solo laners right now with bullshit like Elise Jayce and Zed still very popular, and Khazix can make a comeback too.

removing vision won't actually add significantly more mobility and movement from anybody besides the jungler due to the way riot is obsessed with an essentially static laning phase and actively attempt to quash any thing aside from the status quo. If nothing else just look at the S3 changes to sightstone and oracles and the recent nerfs to 2v1 lanes for a taste of why something like that is completely unviable.

Having things that add complexity to the laning phase would be utterly disastrous for the bulk of their playerbase and create infinite "anti-fun" situations that riot has sworn countless crusades against.

As someone who does not watch LCS I noticed the EU is so much closer than NA LCS in terms of record. Is there a reason for this? Is one region much better than the other?

See, this is what I really don't understand. Riot keeps making all these changes to enforce this static metagame as if players want Riot to do so because it's "unnecessarily complicated" or whatever reason they come up with. But out of my thousands of games of LoL, ranging from silver level in S1 to high plat where I am now, the number of games where people actually try to do non-standard lane setups in ranked I can count on my hands and feet. Literally no one does non-standard lane setups or play on an even remotely regular basis except at the highest levels of play. To me, Riot making all these changes to enforce this idea of how the game should be played effects no one except pros, and by extension spectators, who have complained in the past that a stale metagame with the same lane set-ups every single game is boring.

EU on average is probably better than NA. Top EU vs top NA though, I'm not so sure.

so atm, when at 96 points, i get 2 points for the first win, 1 for the next, then zero points, so far i have gone 3-1 7 times running not being able to enter promotion series.... am i the only person in the world required to win 4 straight games to enter promo? since i lose 3 if im at 99 points (restarting process)

i know its been talked about before but is there any method to fix it? i'd almost rather demote and repromote lol if that would fix it.

Win more, get higher MMR, and you don't have that problem anymore. It is a stupid system, but this is how it works. You are getting capped because the system thinks your MMR is not yet high enough for the next higher league.

ya its prob cause i did roughly 10 promo series before this problem started (failing them all rofl im so bad in promo games) so i had a negative win rate, but now i have a super positive one, so i guess eventually it will fix or ill get lucky and win that 4th game straight >.>

From personal experience, if you spend enough time failing promotion series, the system declamps you.

I don't know how many games it takes, it may change from player to player, but after failing 5 or 6 promotion series I suddenly went from getting 1-3 points per game to 20+ in Silver 1 and after that got to gold the same evening.

Just keep playing, it's really all we can tell you.

Although I don't think vision and the lack of mobility is hurting the game right now, I have no problem with Riot starts to change stuffs up a little bit. I also have some ideas to change the way vision and mobility works now.

- Significantly buff Wanderer mastery, from giving 2% when out of combat to 20% or something, but move it way higher in the Utility tree. It will encourage Supports and and some Junglers to move around more often.
- Change how wards work, making its vision scales with duration. For example, you have full vision when you put the ward down, and the vision lower as duration last.
- Still let people to buy unlimited ward, but make the duration for price change. For example, 1st ward cost 75g, 2nd cost 85g, 3rd cost 100g,.v.v.. The price drop every 1 or 2 minutes.
- Introducing a consumable that gives you a burst of speed like homeguard burst,
