I've watched a few events now, and I've heard a lot of discussion about the "korean meta" and such. As I'm not really familiar with the evolution of things, all I really see is the AD/support bot, AP mid, bruiser top, jungle ganker. Typically either the support or jungle will be tanky. It seems there is a lot of lane swapping and heavier pushing/ganking with the koreans, They seem to like having a 2v1 top and 1v2 bot type of game, where it's a race for both teams to take down the 2v1 tower. Then they stack and try to take down the rest of the enemies outer turrets as quickly as possible.Meanwhile, trying to maintain map vision and grab dragon and enemy buffs as much as possible. This is just my vague perception of things. So can anyone clear things up for me? What is the korean meta or playstyle and how does it differ from what I see in NA?
Come on now, posters like you are a big reason why this forum exists! We'd be nowhere if we flamed everyone for asking questions. As long as you do a simple search and can't find it, ask!
A poster above me already explained what the current korean meta is, but if you're wondering why you don't see it in solo queue, it's because of sustained pressure on the map. In solo queue you often delay taking a tower so your lane opponent can't freely farm, because solo queue teams can't apply the advantage of a downed tower and freed up lane to apply pressure constantly elsewhere on the map.
This is true for a lot of NA/EU games too. You'll see a tower go down in a 2v1 lane, after which they switch back to standard lanes and...well, play a normal game, just with a tower down for each side. That doesn't really apply additional pressure. (If you freeze lane and slowly farm against most Korean teams, solo queue style, you'll be missing all your outer turrets within minutes.)
Taking outer turrets and denying vision is HUGE. You can't safely ward the river areas since there are no safe areas, so you tend to ward in your jungle. Your opponents start warding deep in your jungle too, so they see all your movements and you lose control of it. They'll be pushing as 5 or 4+1 one minute, then disappear from the map the next. Where are they? Are they doing dragon? Recalling? Pushing another turret? Farming jungle / baiting? You don't know, because you lost your vision and can't go too far out without risking your life.

Make a chart of ward positions for both sides for all time brackets please ~ I hope you're joking. That is horribly inefficent to do by hand. What would be nice is if someone pays a programmer to write an application that analyzes youtube VODs and creates an interactive minimap with a timeline feature that tracks ward placements and movements. It'd be one of the most useful statistics though =P Basically just having different screenshots with dots where the wards were at that time I did that for Curse. A screenshot at 00:40 and 01:40 to track level 1 ward coverage. Not to steal spellsy's thunder or anything, but here's an old report on Dignitas: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0iavogi2ew62p5e/Dignitas cheatsheet.pdf
imaqtpie randomly gets caught at least once a game.
I laughed way harder than I should have when I read this.

Thats kinda cool. Thanks for the extra stats stuff, just started as a research analyst, might look into the data some more.

Reading the new champion rotation and it's all right I guess, but...
Quinn is in the champion rotation for the third time in really quick succession. I'd image there would be some other champions people would like to try...
In 2013, we haven't had Yorick at all

Now if only we could somehow remove him from players accounts that have purchased him....
And remove him from the shop while we at it.

interesting stuff.
On the article; I think a huge reason why 2v2 is still popular has to do with how close to skill gap the botlanes are, and how much less of a threat the AD's in EU matchups are in comparison to AP/Top matchups.

download new patch -> instant fatal error in champion select
g.g. riot
hence I recommend you don't relog to grab the new patch

If we had had Yorick recently, they might not have him as a free champion for a while. Because it's been over half a year, he's going to be free soon. ;o
Please high skill liquidians, how should I play the Pantheon vs Riven matchup? Her shield is pretty stronk against spear and most of her dmg is not from autos.

yorick saw competitive play this past week i expect a small resurgence of him, but since there are plenty of champs that can beat him in lane now, and so many strong early junglers, i don't expect yorick dominance

(KZ ghost actually does damage too, since he's AD.) I'm not sure about comps but Yorick decimates certain laners incredibly hard and he has no problems 1v2ing so he still should be used as a counterpick, I really don't know why he's never seen. Every single team does have an ADC that his ults benefits from greatly and all

LOL I had an itch to play some Dota 2 having last played it a year ago. First game back, I hard carried as Crystal Maiden :D
