Good thing they're making most of the current ones cheaper and the expected value of future skin releases hasn't changed much either.
The only thing Riot is really doing is by implementing differential pricing they're reducing consumer surplus since you could get great skins at 975 and then skip out the mediocre 975 ones.

also that ipl5 game was played on elise patch, before S3 changes, heh.
I don't understand how a skill that preys on the enemy's positioning errors super hard is a *worse* pub skill than in competitive.
this has been my general experience playing with TFs. if he falls behind and fails ganks, we have to carry him to where he can become relevant again.
Pretty much true for any other mid as well though..?
TF doesn't have an ult that helps him 1v1, whereas most everyone else does, so falling behind hurts him a lot more in lane. You can see that in the M5 vs WE game, as Misaya has to play extremely safe after 6 against Alex Ich's Diana, and the CS gap just widens. And that's without a missed gank, as he is in lane until the gank on top.

You're now more able to make solo-based plays that your opponents cannot respond to as well. On the scale of solo plays to team plays, you're thinking too far into the extreme team based plays. There's still everything else on that spectrum that is just a potent, and arguably even more potent since a lot of it relies on your opponent's responsiveness.
If you find your team is incapable on following up on certain plays, then don't make them and focus on something they can follow up on or don't need to. And since this is not competitive play, there are going to be more and more mistakes you can take advantage of.
I'm not always thinking of super big team plays, but...
I don't think I can get any further into this argument without specific examples, and I don't have many games with TF players, nor am I home to actually access those few replays, so I'll probably just drop it here.

Honestly, all the skins they're moving up to 1350 are really good skins, they deserve a higher price point compared to others.
It's because it makes no sense at all to increase the price of skins already released. There's like 0 logic in that. Making them cheaper makes sense because that will make people want to buy them. As an example, do you think the community would enjoy it if they suddenly decided to make Jarvan cost 6300 IP? There's a reason champion prices are only decreasing.
I guess the price increase works in the "better buy it now or it'll cost more later on" sense but that's kind of scummy
Its not like that. Riot is a business, and they are doing what businesses do, maximizing their revenue. To be honest, as an econ student we are taught that you charge people up to the point that they will not pay more for it (holding every other variable constant). And in the case of those skins, you look at them and are like "Riot put a shitton of work into these skins, moreso than other 975 skins." Riot deserves to be able to charge for their work and time, but at this point im guessing that they didnt have any understanding of where their profit maximizing point was for skin costs, especially given that they were stepping up their game producing the skins. They have since done the consumer research on what was a new product, and decided on it, and thats why its going up.
Its not really a dick move too because they literally could just do it out of the blue as it probably says in the contract to use the game that they reserve that right with no warning (which would be a dick move) because as it stand they lose profit by telling you they are making it more expensive. Or it could have been like this from the very start, but that could have backfired. Honestly though, Riot probably already does so much for the community that wouldnt be "profit-maximizing" that I really dont think its such a big deal. Also their same day release bundles mean more now, because the skin cost is higher outside of the bundle (which is also fair, because its a deal that is supposed to improve their instant profit).

I only have one question for him.
"why?" What motivates someone to do what he did? Was it immaturity, fun, insecurity? I'm fine with seeing if he can really be a positive influence now, I was just always curious what motivates people to be how they are.
Also, I've found out Varus carries really hard in solo queue. So easy to dominate lane, a teamfight winning ultimate. He's my hero.

But isn't decreasing the cost of other skins increasing consumer surplus? Like now you can get their older stuff for alot cheaper than before. I really dont think consumers lose that much.
EDIT: I just checked and 720 skins are a win (esp the Karma skins, given that they are remade) and we are getting 1820 skins for 1350 now.
I don't know, I feel like this is more of a plan to make people buy those 975skin NOW and not really expecting people to be willing to buy the same skins for more later on (only new skins and skins on sale really get a sale boom for the most part).

What why would that make any sense at all? Like you get so many things for cheaper in this setup that consumers are coming out crazy ahead. And you make it sound like none of the skins listed are as high a quality as Mecha Khazix.

I think they feel like they've gotten as much milage out of the 975 price, and now they might get a couple extra with the "impending doom" period. Like Arcade Sona, is clearly worth 975, so this is the best way for them to get more sales @975 without putting it on sale.

Yeah, they reduced the prices of like half the damn skins in the game
o.o
That, and I already own all the ones they increasing.
I think the skin price change was a good thing, it seemed ridiculous that some skins weren't priced differently. For example Surprise Party Fiddle is a skin that should be priced the same as a legendary but it was 975, same with other skins like Arcade Sona. The price change was bound happen sometime.

holy shit I didn't notice Fiddle on the list, well there you go, there's one sale they got by increasing the price.

That is part of the plan. It has a ton of advantages.
1. Slight influx of buyers who have been on the fence, (and if you are here and buy it, you have lost NOTHING). 2. Establish a new tier of skins at a price point that is helpful to Riot and consumers alike.
Basically we now have: 1800: Legendary 1300: Sub-Legendary 950: Interesting 700: Hmm 500: Eh 390: BLeh

I don't know why everyone's up in roar about 18 skins when literally 76 other skins are getting their prices lowered.
To purchase a 950 skin anyways you'd have to pay $10 (Using USD) which is literally the same amount for these semi-legendaries. With the leftover RP, you can't even buy anything else worth it. Unless you already spent another $10 beforehand.
All the skins that they're increasing to 1350 i either bought because i really liked them, or they went on sale already (wildfire zyra, blackthorne morg etc).
At the end of the day it's a skin, no one has to buy them.
On April 12 2013 08:29 LaNague wrote: increasing the RP prices might not have been their best PR move.
But i guess they can take the hit.
Increasing on the minority while decreasing the majority. Right bad PR move. Why are we complaining again? It's a skin, not champions, runes or rune pages which actually affect the game. 100% voluntary while having 100% nothing to do with playing the game at all.
While Riot can do what they want, and it makes sense for skins with more effort and demand to be priced higher, these business moves always seem like a money grab kind of decision. I'm fine with this one, but I'll still be cautious about other possible money grabs like if new champs got their price increased, didn't go on free week the week after, and got overpowered on release(or seemed like that) so that everyone who wanted more wins would have to play them.
