I really do NOT like an LCS team taking members from a challenger team who had great hopes of becoming an LCS team for the second part of the season.
Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing contracts were created to prevent. I can't speak for gtrsrs's legal arrangements with Velocity's members, but normally (i.e. in other sports) this kind of rapid, unprecedented shifting would be met with some serious suing.
I'm not saying it's a good thing, but this is why there need to be more things like players' unions, etc. ideally. Because there are rules being broken.

thanks for all the support guys!
afaik, evaniskus is not going to GGU. i think it's highly likely that lemon will get the call-up, and with the turmoil that wildturtle's departure has caused so far, he might take it. i have no insider information to back this up though. just my hunch. could be evan. that would be shitty.
anyway all this challenger team poaching is really really unhealthy and i'm going to see what i can do about it. if the 8 teams in LCS are always allowed to just buy out the best challenger players, they'll be the only 8 teams in the LCS forever. i've brought up this concern with riot and they disagree, basically telling me that the challenger circuit is meant to breed players not teams, and that taking players 1 by 1 as fresh blood into LCS is what they want. disappointing but i'm going to see what i can do to change that.
these last-minute trades and kicks are also extremely scummy. i'm surprised at these people that i KNOW are great guys, nice people, and good friends, would go so cut-throat at the last second. in my eyes (and in the eyes of every team owner ever in real sports), if your team is underperforming, it's your coach's fault, not the players. why cut a player when you could just practice harder? team won't practice harder? get a new coach that can inspire them to do so. burning all of these bridges is going to make these teams undesirable. but as long as they have that sweet sweet RIOT cash there'll always be some sucker to get pulled in i guess

I really do NOT like an LCS team taking members from a challenger team who had great hopes of becoming an LCS team for the second part of the season. Having the Challenger tier teams getting their players poached is kind of lane, but having a locked in roster would be a terrible change imo. If a team thinks they can improve with a roster change why make them wait until the mid season break? Teams don't have enough subs to just change out players on the fly. Especially for the bottom teams there's no reason to have them continue to flounder when they can start building team synergy with a new member and hopefully re-qualify for the second half of the season.
Edit: Yeah, Riot has kind of made it clear they are more interested in the Challenger series being like a farm league for future LCS players.

Well Unions have pretty much broke the backs of players in most other sports. Lebron James should be making 2-4x his current Miami Heat salary, not including endorsements.

He took a pay hit so he could play with Wade and Bosh, that's just a salary cap issue.

I think it was always expected since the subs for LCS teams can be starters on challenger teams. At least they have a trade deadline...could you imagine CLG having to face jiji's team for relegation and they call him up to start? GFG. I don't think the system is all that bad but maybe moving the trade deadline up will make things better.

I'm sure there are MANY MANY bad things about these kinds of arrangements, but some form of protection for players (to avoid being screwed over by teams) and teams (to avoid being screwed over by players) would certainly be welcome, right?
I mean, I'll admit I don't know nearly enough about real sports where this stuff exists, but SOMETHING like this needs to happen eventually. Then people like gtrsrs and his teammates don't get royally fucked without recompense.

As far as I know pros and stuff have been talking about playing international teams but Riot hasn't officially stated anything about their involvement yet.

Dyrus knows what's up: Win + Sleep = Happiness. Is Annunciation "t"s like he does in certain an important a Hawaiian thing or does he just have good annunciation?

Then people like gtrsrs and his teammates don't get royally fucked without recompense. it's not a players union needed but an owners union. and when the biggest owner doesn't care (riot) and the biggest owner has exponentially more clout than challenger tier teams, they cannot create an effective union.

i do think it's the players' fault since they have to step up as well, but i don't think the solution to that is cut existing players and add more players. and the sad part is that this is the prevailing attitude in american sports. i don't know how many bad trade proposals i've heard over sports talk radio from fans. i remember last year earlier in the la clippers season, the fans were calling for the coach to be fired because they were underperforming. well, they made a run in the playoffs. and now i have not heard a single call for his head, although i bet we will because they're slumping right now even though they had like a 14 game winning streak earlier in the season.

Considering your posts before defending certain players who are known to be asses, I am just going to say flat out that you are seriously lacking in character judgment for your role in managing a team. Don't hold your players up to a pedestal. Especially when the community has warned you about them in the first place. This is on top of the irony that not long ago, your players already chose to ditch your own sponsor DNG for Velocity in the first place.
