Yeah I still modify the smartcast for everything before the fighting starts. I could write a script I think to change my casting options but I have no idea how to make the gui for it and would just be entering some command every game like:
sh change_keybinds.sh smart smart smart dumb smart_items

It might lower the risk of crashes.

If you edit the config file during champ select, do the changes take effect when the game loads? It would be a pretty nice utility if a tool could automatically adjust your smartcast settings based on what champ you select.

I know this is REALLLY late, but I'm just going to say that it's still going to be a majority opinion vs minority opinion type thing. One or two people are not going to do much. I also don't know how much sway a new hire would have compared to the team leads. Pretty sure he can make a strong case for it, but if the people in charge have a different idea, it's going to be seriously hard for a minority opinion to pull through. Now, I really do hope Karma will be viable in both mid and support roles, and I was really enjoying some of the ideas Guinsoo was working with for Karma's remake that he spoke about on Twitter. It's a bit of a disappointment that Guinsoo is no longer in charge of the remake( and hasn't been for some time it seems)

For the hotkey talk, for using smartcast or dumbcast, there is a LoL tool that someone on TL made where you can create specific hotkeys for specific champions, so that you can go into the game with your champ already having pre-set for which keys are smartcast and which are dumbcast. Although, I haven't used it recently so I am not sure if it is still up to date with the recent patches.

I just had this (theorycraft?) idea. I am not sure where to put it, so I will throw it here for now. Maybe this will get refined with discussion.

TL;DR version: instead of calling "mid laner" and "top laner", we should call them "main solo laner" and "off solo laner" or something like that.

In Season 2 we had this "strict" meta of 1 top (bruiser) 1 mid (AP) 2 bot (support + ADC) and 1 jungle. Nowadays, however, we can see from the competitive scene that this is pretty much bogus now. The SKTT1 vs CJ Frost game Reapered (supposedly top laner) was mid, SuNo (mid laner) was bot, and their adc + support was top. Similarly, Dignitas has throwing scarra bot for a couple of games already (notably the game vs Marn which Dignitas's duo mid lane destroyed Marn's Kassadin mid). Furthermore, many so-called mid-laners and top-laners play the same champions (e.g. Jayce, Khazix, Vlad). I feel that the term "mid laner" and "top laner" should be changed, because being categorized in one class no longer imply you play the game primarily in a certain lane nor play a certain set of champions. It's probably better off just to call them solo laner #1 and #2, or perhaps a "main" and "off" solo laner, based on which of the solo laners will be taking the blue buff and/or prefers to go 1v2.

Does anyone else get a bug on the mac client with pinging? I use the option key and occasionally when i ping the game freezes and then disconnects. I reported it, just wondering if anyone else has this problem/knows a quick fix

I could see it working as long as his kit doesn't make farming in lane easy, that's where they ran into problems with Diana where she could just Q farm from range and get way more gold in lane then in the jungle.

It's really simple - I do it EVERY game unless I'm playing the same champ - it takes like 15 seconds walking from base to mid and it takes around 4-6 seconds changing smartcast.

Walking from base into an invade spot gives you ample time to change your hotkeys lol
