It sets you behind for your first big item, but laning on sona without dorans is horrible, and chalice is so awesome on her. She runs oom so fast. Also the way her skills work you pick up every assist in teamfights and often kills, too, so you are not too starved. | ||

Anyone else happy that they're finally looking into a way to solve the pick order v calling roles argument? I'm curious as to what they'll come up with. I like the notion of picking which roles you want to play before the game, but that won't stop trolls from marking support then calling mid anyways. Also looking forward to "goodies" for players that honor players showing good behavior. I feel like everyone's forgotten about honor and nobody really cares to give it anymore, at least nowhere near as much as when it came out. | ||

Then again, personally I think ranked is a place to practice within the current meta, and normals/customs are for trying out crazy strats and whatnot unless your team(in ranked) agrees to trying something new. | ||

I don't necessarily agree with the idea altogether, but if you're going to have people queue up based on roles, you might as well show what role they queued up as so people can't lie. Not to mention once you get to the champion selection screen if you want to do some fancy anti-meta shit based on enemy picks it's still possible to do so. And let's be fair it's not like there's a whole lot of innovation going on in soloQ anyways. | ||

Then don't powerchord. Having chalice gives you more mana regen to Q and W, and as long as you maintain brush control on your side with vision wards you're going to alright. Even as I say this, Leona's a relatively bad matchup for Sona, because while Sona can survive the lane, Leona exerts more pressure and neuters a lot of Sona's power, while scaling much better into late-game. Then again I don't see why anyone would pick first-pick Sona if they have their choice of support (imo Nami is straight up better and Alistar is also a safe pick if you want sustain + teamfight) but at the very least you wouldn't purposely pick Sona into a Leona lane. | ||
