Welcome to the club, we've got jackets. The prospect of real life looming Ina few months is incredibly daunting to me.
On topic: I'm really wondering why Riot has gone this route with the ranking system. It's the same disappointment I felt as I watched Blizzard made WoW more noob friendly.
I haven't heard a single positive thing about this form of ranking (which I'm sure is just confirmation bias from avoiding LoL GD and r/lol like the plague).
I get that people hate feeling like they're stuck in "elo hell", but this doesn't really solve anything, and makes it more of a pain in the ass for people who want to feel competitive. If you polish a turd, it's still a turd...
Soniv, I was under the impression that you were like 25 or something. wtf babby
I think in things like this, you can't let popular opinion sway you. Unlike champion or item balance, the league system is something that people will get used to, and if they sat down in a meeting and all agreed that this was the better way to conduct rankings, for the good of the game, then they shouldn't let an outcry of "this is different and I'm angry" sway them. Everyone will adapt and after a few months, no one will care and there won't be a clamor to go back to it.

It's always bugged me that LoL is a redheaded stepchild on this site, yet looking at the viewership on Twitch it is by FAR the most-watched esport right now. Twitch viewership last night (I watch before bed); SC2 5k, DotA 5k, WoW 11k (wat), LoL 75k.
Apparently WoW is really picking up steam with this expansion. Kind of makes me want to play agai-NO REQ NO. BAD REQ. DRUGS ARE BAD.
Well, my guild is looking for healers...XD
I was dual specced Ret/Prot. I healed for part of BoT and BWD in early Cata, wasn't crazy about it.
Also stop. I refuse to buy MoP and resub.

WoW lost its steam for me after they killed all my favorite bosses..
i.e Nef Cho'Gall and Rag.
Nothing will compare to Vanilla WoW for me. Being a super weird kid in high school, it was amazing to retreat into this crazy world that I knew nothing about. Finding people around the world, jumping into vent before logging in, knowing I'd have people to talk to/hang out with.
I made the poor decision of leveling a priest from 1-60 as holy spec. Good lord was it slow going, but I loved healing.
40 man raids were amazing. Staying up til 3 or 4 am, knowing I'd be fucked for school in the morning but not caring. Getting yelled at by my parents for still being awake. My guild never progressed very far in content, but good lord I loved hanging out with those guys.
The only thing I really liked after vanilla was Kharazan, and that was just because it was such a clever dungeon.
I certainly miss that feeling of discovery and novelty, but I know I can never go back. I tried Cataclysm for a little bit and hated it. They torched the whole server community feel and tight-knit play that I loved back in the day.
My gold years were Burning Crusade. I was in a guild that felt like a family for about 2 years. I knew everyone, could depend on them, and had many meaningful conversations with people easily twice my age. It was a time of internet bonding i doubt i'll ever see again. What WoW is now doesn't even come close to a shadow of what it once was.
This was more due in part to the random finding and quick travel/sanctuary zones, imo. There's not enough incentive to have a group of people that you know well, when you can just queue and go afk until you get loot. In their attempt to make it more accessible, they made camaraderie less attractive. You're not part of a tight knit group in Azeroth, you're just another player in a bucket and it doesn't matter who you know unless you're on a top tier raiding/PvP team.

Very true, they removed the community element of WoW. Although my guild ended up being top 3 on server, and i was the highest ranked survival hunter for arena for 5 months, so getting that top tier networking felt pretty awesome as a high school kid :D. But mid way through wrath the game died for me. I tried again in cata, and its not even WoW as far as i'm concerned lol. Oh well, i have memories at least. I wish someone would start up a BC server

There are BC and WotlK pvp servers running, but everything except BGs/arena is disabled. If you enjoy pvp, google "arena tournament"

As a grad of about 5 years- you learn literally nothing in undergrad. The knowledge is completely useless (unless you're in something more specific or technical; engineering, cs, or accounting), however you gain two very important things to show future employers.
First, that you can accomplish something that takes a long time, focus, and dedication. Second, you join a new club, more elite than before. You're now a member of the "have degree club" which honestly does account for a great deal after the entry level phase. I have a friend who never went to school, but is a brilliant developer. He was making FAR more than me when I graduated, but I've since passed him. Most places won't promote you to a certain level without a college degree- you can be a senior dev, but never a manager or director for instance. Additionally, most of those "next level" jobs require both experience AND a degree.
It sucks right out of school and feels like it was a waste of time and energy, but it really does mean something later. Just stick in there buddies.
I laughed way too hard at that shit. The dub drop for ocelot made me guffaw and wake-up my room-mate. Dyrus' bouncing jowels had me choke on my hot chocolate. #FUCKING #ESPORTS

I'd prefer Wrath, since it was far more varied in arena representation. Specifically, s6 or s7. In BC arena, you pretty much couldn't do 2s or 3s as any class but druid, warr, lock, or rogue. A priest could ONLY do priest/rogue in 2s and RMP in 3s. Every other class literally couldn't step into the arena. I played a trendbreaking Ele/BM in 2s, but it was a terribly gimmicky affair.
Yeah, league players running in slow motion is pretty amusing
I was super proud to get 1700 (arena helm!) with my BM hunter with ele shaman. I was terribad at competitive WoW. It was a social thing I did with my bros.
Alright, after that fucking commercial it's official... we are #1. LoL has hype commercials for their players/teams now, we have won the NA esports war.

While I'm flattered that you think I'm that mature, I'm 21 lol.
And on the contrary, I believe they DID let popular opinion decision sway them. The vast majority of players believe they belong higher than they are, so they whine about it. This new system seems to be Riot's attempt to placate the masses, and I believe that WE (most of TL in general) are the minority.
Obviously I have to accept the change since I have no power to change it, but I'm not a fan of it.

Yeah in season 1-2 i was like 1850, in season 3 i only hit like 1700, but in season 4 and 5 i was 2250 and was like top 5 on my server, and was the #1 hunter with my holy paladin buddy (the other top ranking teams were like all pally/dk, or like rogue/mage)
