He's still quite strong, just not the same lane bully he was before. More of a niche pick now, best for a dedicated poke comp with someone like AP nidalee. New Tear helps him a lot. I sucks because you sacrifice some damage, but it makes it so you don't OOM when poking with QE combo. It makes his pokes more terror, imo. unlimited siege even without blue or baron, is pretty brutal. Plus if you do a correct midgame tower push, the ADC still won't have their warmogs yet, so if you get a solid E-Q combo, you can essentially push a team off of a tower.

What kind of build do you go on him nowadays? I used to do things like BT + FMallet or TF + Warmogs back when he was released and OP as shit, but I'm just not sure anymore.

The typical builds we've seen in tournament games lately go Tear -> Bruta -> BT -> Muramana then w/e. Q/E becomes godly and can be done forever. You don't need to max E anymore, but Q is incredible for damage/poke.
Edit: And we clearly need a Jayce thread too at this point. =/

I think Jayce is still very strong, just has fallen out of favor. He's also much better for poke / disengage comps and not the dive comps that we see a lot these days.

Aha, my bad-- I misunderstood Riot's (questionable!) combinations of 'division', 'league', and 'tier' in their little help system in-client. So you go from, say Gold II -> Gold I -> Gold II again, but not Silver I -> Gold V -> Silver I.

Muramana doesn't need to be rushed or anything. The build Asmo described is pretty accurate in terms of when we've seen him in pro play. I goal of Tear on Jayce is different than on Ryze, it's more for the mana utility than the extra Toggle damage. Muramana is just a nice bonus since you can build it without having to sell back your Tear and you get to keep the extra mana.
Edit: Moved to Jayce thread as well.

I used to do things like BT + FMallet or TF + Warmogs back when he was released and OP as shit, but I'm just not sure anymore. It's not about Muramana's toggle, it's about not "wasting" a slot for mana anymore. Tbh Manamune probably wasn't that bad in s2, but BT, LW, etc. were so superior to it that it wasn't even close, plus Tear costed like 25-30% more compared to now and was harder to charge. Now, sure it's still not the ultimate damage item, but it gives you quite some bang for your buck, and easily at that. It's the same reasoning for Kha'Zix, Manamune doesn't do that much for his burst (Muramana a bit more) but it's so easy for him to burst you down when he has the mana to spam W 10 times in a row to soften you up that it doesn't matter.

you people saying jayce isn't as good anymore, I don't know what you're talking about. I always get raped by jayce. everytime I lane vs him. maybe I don't understand the champ or something, but I always lose lane vs jayce.

My goodness, this so much. Now we just need an Asami skin for Vi (EQUALIST GLOVE TO THE FACE).

I don't really think Jayce is as strong as you guys think he is. He just doesn't have a gamechanging ult in his kit. He's also kinda clunky to use. I like my champions to have good animations and to be able to auto after a spell or move a bit. He can't do that.
Jayce has a 45% win rate overall and in my experience isn't the best.

I saw some guy rape with jayce adc and checked his match history and just said 10 straight wins with absurd scores...had to try it. First game never played jayce I destroyed with it. So I think he has potential there. Just maxing Q and E and forgoing ult I would basically 1 shot combo any AD

He's pretty damn good in ranked 5s if you have a proper teamcomp. We had AP Kog, jayce, corki, lulu xin. If the other team can never fight you, you'll never take damage and new tear => rylais is amazing on AP kog. It takes a while to ramp up but if you get to midgame alright, it's very difficult to push against and very difficult to defend against as well.

Just maxing Q and E and forgoing ult I would basically 1 shot combo any AD Should probably move to the Jayce thread, but more general setup thought:
ADC Jayce is kind of interesting in lane. As a straight ADC, he kinda sucks because of the range issue, but as a kill lane combo with Leona, Ali, or Taric, he can dump all over other ADs and just man-mode lane. But at end game, you don't have a proper ADC, since outside of his poke and after his W has been spent, he can't really stand up to most of the standard ones.
